Pens wiped the Floor with the Leafs on that One. They traded a Bottom 6 Forward, 2 AHL Guys and a 3rd for a Star Forward who was a big Reason why they Won Back 2 Back Stanley Cups.
Had the Leafs not traded the First they got from PIT for Anderson, this Trade would be talked about as one of the Worst of all Time.

This was a win-win trade.
Leafs weren't going to win with Kessel as their premier player, and getting rid of him made them bad enough to get Matthews, and Matthews is far better than Kessel ever was or will be (sometimes you have to take a step backwards to take a step forwards). They got Kasperi Kapanen out of the deal, and a pick that was part of the deal to get Andersen.
Pens on the other hand got supplementary scoring and have the Leafs paying a portion of his salary, and imo it's doubtful that they would have won two cups without Kessel
Supplementary? The guy is third in the league. Leafs traded away a legit superstar winger for a pick and a prospect ultimately. Throwing in the Matthews draft is bullshit because that was a lottery, they could have easily ended up not drafting first.
It's win-win if the Leafs ever actually win something, like a playoff round for starters. The Pens are absolutely the winners of this trade as it stands, its not even close. They got 2 cups, 2 MVP-level playoff performances from him, and now he's in the race for the Art Ross. It's going to require a lot of mental gymnastics to make this trade out like a win.
I'll give you Andersen though, he's been solid. Kappy has done nothing so far, so time will tell.
Supplementary - as in additional, but wasn't expected to be their primary source. He's definitely done more than what was expected of him, but lets not pretend that the Penguins (or anyone) was considering that he'd outperform Malkin and Crosby.
Yes the Leafs traded away their best player at the time, but as I said, they took 1 step backwards and 2 steps forwards. You're underestimating Kap, because Babcock loves to use his veterans. Also, the Leafs weren't going anywhere with Kessel, and wouldn't have even made the playoffs with him as the top player on the Leafs.

is it against the Law for Leafs (the team that makes more money than any other team in the NHL) to actually get a big name player? Really there is no reason why this team can't acquire someone like cory perry or Ryan Getzlaf.... someone that doesn't get passed up and down to the farm team 3 times a year, and is worth buying a jersey with there name on it.
These guys are losers. SportsNet are hyping them up to be the next Jay Onrait and Dan O'toole, but they lack that magic.
These guys were around a couple years before Jay and Dan. Jay and Dan had the benefit of being on a much more popular channel.

Edward Bliss I remember watching them along time ago. They use to actually talk now they kind of just make jokes and try too hard to be cool and weird. Guess being normal and informed isn't cool enough any more.

I'm glad our Penguins have been infected by Kessel, I actually think Kessel should have won the Conn Smythe trophy instead of Crosby, because he was amazing. He just needed to get traded to a GOOD team with potential that has a great fan-base
Trade worked out really well for both teams. With Kessel the Leafs probably dont end up dead last and draft Matthews.
You're under the presumption Matthews is an automatic bank player. Could be a bust, you never know.
