The “drummers” on the scissor lift are the ones who provide the background vocals for Corey...Clown and Chris (at the time) now it’s Clown & Tortilla Man doing the backups vocals
I think you owe us another slipknot video after stopping early 😂 If you want to see his mastery of crowd control, watch spit it out live at download Festival 2009
Its the epitome of crowd control. When such a song becomes so legendary that even non fans know what to do before Corey Taylor asks you to get down, thats incredible.
I mean, not to sh*t on corey taylor. Hes not my favorite singer but hes got a good voice. However his screaming is not Guttural screaming, and theres a plethora of more disturbing screamers out there
If you want to hear more of Corey's amazing clean vocals I'd recommend the songs "Snuff" or "Circle" from Slipknot ... but, Corey also is the front man of a predominantly hard rock band called Stone Sour. I'd recommend the songs: Through Glass, Bother, Song #3, Hesitate, Taciturn, Zzyzx Rd. and Influence of a Drowsy God. The guy has an absolutely phenomenal singing voice.
For an amazing female metal vocalist, check out Unleash The Archers and their song Tonight We Ride (official video). Her belting is Goddess level and will split the earth some day 😁
Dude, I LOVE your innocence and excitement when you see what Slipknot is all about.... ❤️ this is a GREAT video! 🔥 Thank you for doing this - Appreciate your channel and review of METAL 🤘🏼😎🤘🏼
99.9% sure he was wearing in-ears... however stage volume in an arena isn't as loud as you would think (I've played to in 10,000 crowd arena and the stage volume is very tame.... it's all BOOMING out of the mains though!)
I love it when kens talks like he’s Ron burgundy’s smarter brother at 2:55 or maybe a little Paul Rudd in there. I truly enjoy watching ken react to this genre of music.
I actually used to be in a metal band and got to meet Slipknot in person. After they saw us cover this same song. Never thought that would happen to me
They have been one of my favorite bands since I was a child I finally got to see them live in 2015 and it was one of the best shows ive ever been to Corey posses a special voice being able to do so many different styles a great display of his voice would be with his other band Stone Sour a song they did called bother
"Everyone is so at odds with each other. Everyone is so quick to look at each other as an enemy without trying to find common ground. For our kids, for our fans, that can really be a stressful, daunting, dangerous time. It’s very dangerous for people to be different these days. I will not have it. I grew up different. I know the pain of having to deal with being treated differently, and for me, it’s one of those rare cases where we actually use our position in life to make a stand and say 'It doesn’t matter who you are, where you come from, what you look like, what color your skin is, who you love, what you believe - we are all your family because of this love for music that we have. The title "We Are Not Your Kind" represents that gathering of people together and then turning our backs towards the rest of the world and saying, ‘We’re not going to let your illness and your hate permeate us. We are not your kind. You will never be ours. This is what Slipknot is about."
What you’re actually seeing is Joey Jordinson slay on the drums the whole song. He literally sets the tempo and feel for the entire song and regularly throws triple kicks into the song in dynamic intervals. I’m a little biased but I think he’s the best still living drummer
Hi! On the album, I believe he sings both parts...but, in concert, someone else does the screams, so he doesn’t strain too much I imagine. Also, he’s one of the few vocalists with a 5.5-7 octave range.😉
I can’t say how much fun it would be to be in a metal band. But I’ve been to a good number of Slipknot concerts. Hella good time had by all!! But nothing I’ve ever seen has topped Rammstein live.
So if you want to hear easily the best clean vocals in the world. (also metal) Lost horizon - cry of as restless soul Lost horizon - sworn in the metal wind
There was another vocalist on stage. One of the percussionists Chris Fehn(the mask with the long nose) who is no longer in the band was singing the backup parts.
Idk if you read any of this buuut this might impress you a bit more. In the late 90s he destroyed his vocal cords with heavy smoking drinking and screaming and was told he might not ever sing again. Here he is now
I don't know if Corey was using In-ears back then. But I know he does now. Yes he was standing on the sub cabinets. That's pretty common in metal. Corey was pretty raw when he first started. But it definatily sounds like he's gotten some vocal training over the last 15 years.
Maybe you would be interested in "from can to can't" with corey taylor and dave grohl among other musicians. On the youtube video they show part of the recording (including vocals)
Omg man, what you said around 1:50 Is amazing...... so much music in this world... i want everyone to love it like i do, Music is beautiful music is joy. Got to edit it, i love everyone from Ralph Stanly to Nightiwsh but also to some band thats amazing i never heard of but blows me away.
This is a great performance for sure but if you wanna see Corey at his peak. I recommend reacting to Disasterpiece live in london 2002 I believe. He almost ruined his voice permanently on this tour but my God it was slipknot at their absolute best.
Live performance vocals change a bit in order for corey to not blow his voice out. The 2 custom percussionists add in more vocals at live shows. Slipknot is known to play 250+ shows in one year of touring.
corey can do it all , he does ballads , rock , metal yeah pretty much everything . his other band stone sour he shows great range and his unplugged show in london even more
If you want to hear a trained metal singer who nearly became famous with Judas Priest, look into the German power metal band Primal Fear and their vocalist Ralf Scheepers. He auditioned for JP when original singer Rob Halford left the group. He lost the job to Ohio's Tim "Ripper" Owens, whose story was dramatized in the movie Rock Star. Regardless, Ralf is an absolute beast of a singer who also works as a vocal coach. You won't be disappointed. Several songs to listen to are "Armageddon", "Revolution" and "Silence" from their album 'Black Sun'.
KEN! YOU WOULD KILL IT IN A METAL BAND!!!! Seriously! I’m old! 50! Been a metal head 40. I know metal lead singer guy charisma when I see it. And with your skills, your biggest problem would be trying to figure out which band to join. Listen, I am a senior corporate exec for a strategic consulting firm, and we obviously scout and assess talent for roles. So now that I’ve started writing a work email in a RUclips comment, I’ll close it to say: You’re a master performer and musician. Why would you not try this style of performing? Imagine just cutting loose, letting your skills fly at 100%, do what you know a speed of living to the fullest. Suit and tie guys like you and I get so much out of metal if you indulge. Talk about enjoying being the suit and tie guy that gets to blow off the steam that’s been capped off by our tie’s. Boom baby. Now, back to my conference call. And sneakily watching Slipknot entrance Ken... :-)
yeah they have a backup vocalist chris fehn originally corey does those screams but I think his throat was bothering him but he can scream alot better now
There are two other musicians who can make Corey Taylor voice play in the background of a song. One of them is Sid Wilson on turntables and Craig Jones on sampling.
Him: "He's carrying a microphone. That must be Corey Taylor."
Corey: *screams* YEAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
That was perfect lol
lol
Limao
Chris Fehn, the percussionist on the left does the backing vocals during the chorus in this song
*DID*
😂 nice
As does clown

@@mantymusic9109 not anymore.. Its either clown or tortilla guy
Um.... the song wasn’t over lol
who cares? it was just the chorus repeated again
Ol' Whippersnapper Exactly! He got the idea, he’s a singing coach.
he already hit the 8 minute mark
HAHAHAHAHA
😂 😂😂😂😂😂
"That is a very... big man on the guitar" 😂
Mick Thomson is a beast at 6'4", but Jim Root has a couple inches on him at 6'6". It's funny seeing him near Corey.
@@benjaminrapp7418 i always thought James was 6'8 because everytime he stands next to Mick its like a 6'8 to 6'5 or 6'7 to 6'4 or 6'6 to 6'3
I’d like to see them next to Chuck Billy, met him once and he completely filled the door jam.
@@BuckInchuteranch1 he's only 6'3 and fat
Jim is tall, Vman is chunck and Mick is fusion of them
KEN YOU DIDN'T FINISH THE LIVE PERFORMANCE!!! HE STOPPED TO HYPE UP THE FANS 😭😭
RIGHT?!
I was gonna say I'm pretty sure its not over yet
THAT HURT ME TOO
@@lukewalker9733 man I hope your middle name is Sky 🤔😎

You’ve gotta check out Corey Taylor performing their song “Snuff” live. You’ll get to see the extent of his talent.👌🏻
Yeeess
Yes!
+1
Vermilion and Vermilion Pt. 2 are also a good showcase of Corey's range :)
this..yup.
The “drummers” on the scissor lift are the ones who provide the background vocals for Corey...Clown and Chris (at the time) now it’s Clown & Tortilla Man doing the backups vocals
Sometimes that can also be sampled in by Craig.
Only Clown used the scissor lift. Chris is afraid of heights.
ah a chad Tool fan
Tortilla Man needs to work on his backing vocals,...😬
..But he is fun to watch onstage! New awsome job and all
@@venomau5speedz He actually improved a lot throughout their tour cycle. At the beginning of 2020 he was doing really well.
If you want a ballad from Corey Taylor, Snuff is the way to go
Or either Bother or Taciturn from Stone Sour
Circle from vol 3 it's probably closer to that kind of music
snuff isn't the only soft song or ballad that exist in corey taylors carreer. u know?
@@seba24trade It's the most popular one from Slipknot, but I do know more exist
You didn't finish the video Ken lmao
'-'
He skipped the best part!

Its the epitome of crowd control. When such a song becomes so legendary that even non fans know what to do before Corey Taylor asks you to get down, thats incredible.
I’ve never seen such pure innocent enjoyment of such a heavy act 😂😂. I love it
The genuine surprise on this mans face when Corey started singing
his vocals on the song "from can to can't" are very good, that's a song he did with Dave Grohl, and Rick Nielsen
Seconded
@@BexREB and thirded
Oh maaan!!! Its true lml!!

Such underrated song!
He's actually got a beautiful singing voice, along with the most disturbing screaming, growl, you'll ever hear.
oh cmon
Far from the lost disturbing growl you'll hear, I wouldn't even say it's a growl
@@LaughingMan44 fine... how about gutteral scream?.... better? Geez

The two parts of Vermillion also offer a nice study in contrasts of Corey's vocals.
his growl is very inconsistent, it can be rlly good. or very crimgy.
You still had a whole minute left, they always do a pause there
Ken's doing Slipknot?
"Oh Kenny boy....you're about to have a fun day."
“percussionists all over the stage”
yep, nothing has better summed up Slipknot lol
Corey Taylor has another band called Stonesour... check out their song Hesitate!!!!
Look up Cory Taylor live in London. it will showcase his many sides of his voice and personality.
Especially when he did the Spongebob song😂

You have to do Slipknot "spit it out" live at download 2009, also I would love to see you react to Ramstein "du hast" live at paris.
The two percussionists besides the main drummer both do backup vocals/screams.

"Hold up everyone, I'm gonna sing something." I would start every concert that way.
Loved the pure glee on his face at the beginning
Singing with a mask on? You should definetly check out Ghost! Haha

Try out Deftones with 'Passenger', 'Change' & 'My Own Summer'
And while you at it, try out TOOL with 'Schism', 'Lateralus' & 'Fourty Six and Two'

Corey actually designs his masks so they are quite easy to sing in, he also strengthens his jaw by doing exercises with his jaw
