Inevitably, in the hodgepodge of life that goes into creating a movie, a few strange and interesting things happen here and there that are rather fascinating little tidbits of information. I was unreasonably happy to hear the dog was rescued from death row and got to be a movie star and live a full life :D
The amount of my happiness seemed unreasonable to me. I don't usually get sentimental about things that don't apply to me.
That "pushed a pebble towards her" is PURE Blue-Healer behaviour - they Love a Target and you better give it to them - I chuckled - my sister had a Bluey [Ralph] ; ALL they care about is moving-things [and they are moderately social too].
Like all pets it is a contract : will you give them the thing they need for the next ten to fifteen years?
Beside me is my Labrador/Staffy [Jordan] ; he is 14 and three-months ; he is losing his hearing , and some eyesight , he is on Arthritis-injections ; he likes hugs . . . and it is sad to watch him fade.

I remember seeing Road Warrior in my teens on HBO, i was blown away! It was years after that i finally saw Mad Max and it all made sense to me. The Interceptor still evades my die cast collection, i just can't find one I'm happy with. Thunderdome was ok, cashed in on Gibson and Tina Turner's fame. Fury Road was a whole different level! A spectacular feast for the eyes, great story, a fantastic movie.
Mad Max however will always be my favorite......or until Mel decides to do the next one.
AutoArt here in Australia made a 1:18 scale Interceptor. The best model I own. It is immaculate. Cost me $310. Only they weren't allowed to call it an "Interceptor". It is called a "Ford XB Falcon Tuned Version".

The opening of the Road Warrior is one of the best in movies. It set up the post-apocalyptic world better than almost any other movie.

The supercharger on the interceptor in the original mad max was driven by an electric motor and not by the engine.
Cheaper for special effects and gave the ability to turn it on and of for visual effect.

Still to this day Mad Max is an ICON of a movie. George Miller was a Medical Doctor before a Director?, that I didn ‘t know.
I thought that it was great to see Hugh Keays-Byrne AKA "the Toecutter" or main bad guy from Mad Max 1 (1979), return at age 67 to play the main bad guy "Immortan Joe " in Fury Road.

Another thing you may not know about Mad Max is the Peter Weir (Dead Poets, The Truman Show) connection.
A major inspiration for Miller to quit his day job to create the Mad Max movies was Weirs first feature film called The Cars That Ate Paris. This social satire revolving around vehicular violence featured a character who like Miller at the time, is a doctor who treats car crash victims. The spike covered VW Beetle seen in Fury Road is Millers tribute to Weirs earlier work. Additionally the 'Brides' characters from Fury Road were inspired by another of Weirs movies called Picnic At Hanging Rock.

People keep repeating the same trivia points. I'm happy to finally read some things I didn't already hear about a hundred times. I wonder if Weir was aware and if he got the idea to use Mel because of Miller. I know Bruce Spence was introduced to Miller through Weir.

Saw every movie in the theatre starting with Mad Max in 1979. Can't beat the experience. Since then I have watched them repeatedly, and have seen The Road Warrior at least 500 times via VHS, DVD, etc.

Had no idea Miller was a Medical Doctor! Great list! A lot of fun! Most of these facts I didn't know. Fan of the series. I was happy with the latest installment. The practical effects were great. Just missed Gibson.

I always thought about how strange the contrast was between the very first movie and the later ones. In Mad Max, towns, infrastructure, law enforcement, etc. seem to still exist intact. In later movies, like Beyond Thunderdome, I wondered why the pilot didn't just take the kids to one of those nice towns, or in Road Warrior he didn't just direct the survivors of the oil pump fort to his old town.
The first Mad Max is set just before a war that destroyed humanity, Max is one of the survivors of the apocalypse in the later films.
Mel Gibson's the Road Warrior was the Best Mad Max film of them All...

They should have mentioned the fate of the original Black Interceptor. The story was in a car magazine a couple of decades ago. A fan of the movies became intrigued with the car so he tracked it down and found it in a junkyard, complete with camera mounting points and mechanicals. He said he would drive it around every now and then and that he always got some enthusiastic reactions when he did.
Apparently he later sold it but that was after this article was printed. I think it's in a movie car museum these days. Anyway, if not for him this now iconic movie car would have probably been stripped and destroyed.
There's one out in Silverton, near Broken Hill in Oz but I think it may be a replica.
The car was bought by the cars of the stars museum hear in the uk and was on display until the museums closure a few years ago. I read somewhere that it is now on display at Car World in Miami USA

The first two Mad Max films were excellent. The Road Warrior became a HUGE hit and then Mad Max came to view after the fact. Still the coolest, raw action film ever.

There`s also the popular fan theory about the Max in Fury Road is not the original Mad Max Character, he is actually the grown up version of the Feral Kid from the second movie. Halfway through Fury Road, you see one of Immortan Joe`s wives playing the music toy which Max gave to the Feral Kid. The kid was fascinated by Max in the Road Warrior, so when he reached manhood, he dressed like him and assumed his identity...That`s how the theory goes anyway
That doesn't really work considering the fact that at the end of Road Warrior it's revealed that he grew up and became the leader of the great northern tribe and that he was telling the whole story on his deathbed as an old man?

Yeah I guess I could see that, but really I think a more plausible theory is that Fury Road and the other Mad Max Films are just stories being told by different people, so the continuity and details are always changing. Either that or George Miller just doesn't give a fuck about continuity.

When they were filming Mad Max around Lara area the crew would take the cars to 5ways, which is an icon general store/ milk bar in Lara. My father has photos of the cars there he took himself.

A friend of mine was one of the set directors on fury road. A surprising thing he told me about that film is they were filming that for over 10 years....
I grew up in the Western Suburbs of Melbourne at the time that Mad Max 1 was shot. Its kinda nostalgic for me to see the back roads of the Laverton or the old MMBW pumping station in the movie. Now living in the Midwest USA, seeing all of these sights is a trip down memory lane for me. Thanks for the memories!

One of the best lines ever in the entire Mad Max franchise is, "Remember: no matter where go, there you are." from "Beyond Thunderdome". There are two reasons why any Mad Max fan should love this quote. The first is more childish (admittedly), but still a cool. The first reason is that the character it is said to is always there through the entire film, no matter what. The second reason is more existential and relating the Max as a character. "Remember: no matter where you go, there you are." Are strong words for Max as a character because he's haunted with the what he lost. He lost his whole world. His wife. His child. Everything was taken from him, but he was there. Remember: no matter where you go, there you are.

Another fun fact caused by a shoestring budget. Originally the movie was going to be filmed in and around Sydney, but budget didnt allow it. They had to go to the back country to find places that they could afford to film on. This change caused a significant shift in the overall tone of the movie away from something a little less grim and dying to what we know and love today. This is why the change from the first film to the second film costume wise is so dramatic as well. Miller took the praise and ran with it!

Bonus: Leigh Wannel said that the inspiration for the first SAW movie came from the last scene in Mad Max 1 with the "no win situation" of having to saw off his foot at the ankle to avoid being blown up with the car leaking gasoline. Max: "if you're quick you can saw through your ankle in 5 minutes" ...

Since the dog came from the pound, they were not going to release him without first neutering him, which meant castration. Since the for the film they didn't want that, they paid for a vasectomy instead. Glad to hear he had a good life being a ranch dog.

Mad Max: Fury Road is fucking incredible. This is from someone who hates action movies. The colourful cinematography, acting and incredible set pieces are breathtaking. It's nice to see some strong female characters for once also, As a huge fan of Mad Max I can wholeheartedly say this is the best one.

Not only is "Road Warrior" the best of the series, I'd argue it's in the top ten best films of all time, albeit in a genre no one would expect anything great to come out of (even as awards are routinely festooned on rank garbage just because they're dramas). Casting, direction, acting, editing, dialogue, and score are all top-notch, and the sense of immersive verisimilitude I do not think is equalled by many other films. The first film is a good movie with a fantastic cast, but the lack of budget is easily apparent. "Thunderdome" was a crowd-pleasing money-grab: certainly enjoyable, but lacking the air-tight script of its predecessor.
"Fury Road" is by far the weakest of the bunch, and shares evidence-of-the-decline-and-fall-of-the-industry similarities with "Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" in the Indiana Jones franchise: Tom Hardy can't act his way out of a paper bag, Charlize Theron is in it and the plot is as it is because scripts must cater to SJW narratives now to avoid critical-panning, the vehicles are cool but don't really make any sense (why are gas and bullets suddenly plentiful, but not anything else, and who's making all the tires? You need fucking *factories* for those steel-belted radials!), the sandstorm sequence should have been at the end of the movie as a capstone (pro tip to filmmakers: never have a jaw-dropping effect at the beginning if you're not going to top it later), and really the whole thing was just off right from the unnecessary and stupid introductory pissing scene.
Aside from Immortan Joe's costume, the only thing in "Fury Road" that really clicked was the warboy culture, and a much better film should have been built around Nicholas Hoult's Nux character in a coming-of-age story instead of a retread re-casting a new Max (which immediately trashes verisimilitude). And of course then they killed Nux, so the best thing in the reboot has already been thrown out.

· For some reason in the fourquel, his age has been retconed to 36, even though Fury Road takes place 46 years later after the events of Beyond Thunderdome.

Retconing ruins everything, its used as an excuse when writers can think of new ideas on certain elements in the story, it's even common in video games like Street Fighter.
If you ask me: I think those two barbarically insane tyrants were long lost twin brothers named Toe & Joe. Immortan Joe seems like a demonized version of Max because they have similar lives (such as being fallen hero cops) while Toecutter is the type who creates monsters like Max & Joe. Before the events of the 1979 original, I think those estranged twins once tried to kill each other as Joe loses his mind wanting Toe's head for slaughtering their parents, and Toe's psychotic gang chased Joe off into another wasteland to run for his own life and Toe found a new brother named the "Nightrider" while Joe started his own cult later on to eventually seek bloodthirsty revenge on Toe and his gang.

Fury Road is one of the best movies ever? LOL *pun intended* Shawshank redemption, Casa Blanca, The Wizard of Oz, 2000 A Space Odyssey... those are some of the best movies ever, Fury Road is complete and utter garbage.

I have also watched some of the movies you mentioned as being great, and thought some of them were the most boring films I've seen. I felt like Max wasn't really the main character in Fury Road
Josef Hansriem He wasn't. There are many stories where the "Hero" is not the main focus, the character they are helping is. Miller has talked at length that he considers the films to be Legends of the Road Warrior. Basically tall tales that a story teller would tell around a campfire. Fury Road could be considered Furiosa's telling of what happened to her.

Fury Road was a worthy addition to the mad max saga. Road Warrior is still the best.
During filming on The Road Warrior there were a couple of notable injuries amongst the stunt crew. Guy Norris ran a bike into an overturned dune buggy and clipped it with his left leg rather than vaulting over it as intended, shattering his femur, and somersaulted through the air with a bloodcurdling scream of surprised agony. He appeared in later shots while hiding his cast. Stunt director Max Aspin attempted to jump one car over another, but the vehicles connected and Max's car, losing momentum and nosing into the dirt which fractured his ankle. George kept both takes in the final edit. With Max's death shortly before production, Guy took over as stunt director on Fury Road.
Watched Road Warrior in the theatre in Las Vegas NM , theatre had about 50 seats. Man myself and the audience were lit up. Big lifetime fan

And that the car was rebuilt using salvaged parts and the other vehicle he uses. And in the game the interceptor and jacket look very similar to the secind film but there is more civilization in the game and gas is much mkre available pointing to before road warrior.
I LOVED THE MOVIE AND I LOVED THE GAME EVEN MORE.
If you do the main quest it is OK, but if you want to do 100% it is way too repetitive...
If you like car chases, Fury Road will not disappoint. The first half is one long car chase. The second half is the continuance of that car chase, and the vehicular creations are just insanely cool. Characters are what you'd expect, as well as the plot.
Another fun fact, an unusually high number of stunt performers were sent to hospital on this production.

Grandparents had a cattle farm and several blue heelers!! Great dogs with tons of energy!! The Road Warrior was an instant favorite of mine growing up once I saw his dog.
George is a stickler for practical effects in his live action productions. When he was shown the Doof Wagon guitarist's prop he wanted the prop master to play it. The prop master uncomfortably explained that only the flamethrower was functional. As George looked at him like a sad puppy the prop crew knew they needed a fully functional flame spewing electric guitar. George got his way, but the audio on the instrument was horrendous, so it was agreed that the chords would be dubbed in. He still got a working flamethrower guitar for the movie, though.

My personal opinion is that Fury road and Beyond Thunder dome both sucked, 1 and 2 may have been low budget and no septics but by far the better films ...

I love the road warrior, but I honestly think that fury road is the best mad max film. Of course the second one is way more important than the fourth on, because he pretty much defined the post apocalyptic genre, but hands down, the action scenes in fury road are unbelievably good!! Some of them might be some of the best ever put on film. But also the rest of fury road is a freaking masterpiece! Like I said, the road warrior is an incredibly important film, but in my opinion, Miller really did his best job on fury road.

I love all 4 of the Mad Max films for various reasons, but I have to rate the first one best overall because of the ridiculously low budget, the originality, and the relative unknown factor, at least to Americans, for many years, yet it still became a classic. The first Mad Max was so unknown in the U.S. that they completely dropped "MadMax" from the title of the American release of Mad Max 2 : The Road Warrior. I saw 2 and 3 as a kid and never even knew the first one existed until I was an adult, and now it's my favorite. It just brings all the rest of them together. Not to mention the awesome characters like the Toecutter and Bubba, and the Goose...and all the great one liners.
I love the mad max movies so much, and Furiosa deserves her own movie that give's us a more in depth look at her back story!
