    I am now on day 8 post extraction with a dry socket and it still hurts. This has honestly been the worst amount of pain I have ever felt in my life, by far. Day 5 and 6 were absolute 10/10 pain wise, I'm convinced I would have ended up in tears at the emergency room if it wasn't for my medication. The pain actually made me light headed. I went back to my dentist and he packed the extraction site with a dry socket paste. That helped only somewhat. My gums are just now slowly starting to close, but I can imagine I have a couple months ahead of me where I have to flush out food from the cavity until it completely heals. Please, listen to your dentists advice. Don't smoke, vape, spit, or drink though a straw. I promise you, it's not worth it.
    Edit: 2 weeks of absolute hell. Day 15 was the first day where I didn't need painkillers. I am now on day 16, and while it doesn't exactly hurt, I can still feel a bit of discomfort. My condolences to anyone going though this.

      I feel this so hard. I was in agonizing pain for a couple of weeks after my wisdom teeth extractions. Nothing was helping. One night I woke up and felt really dizzy and confused and told my husband that something was wrong and I needed to go to the ER. On our way to the car I passed out and woke up on the cold dirty garage floor. He called an ambulance and I was told it was infected and got antibiotics. The entire recovery was honestly the scariest and most painful experience of my life. I actually still tear up just thinking about it. Also I followed all post op recommendations and still got dry socket, which really sucks.

In African countries majority of people have perfect teeth. They don't eat sugary food and chocolates, carbonated drinks. The people eat sweet and tempting foods, due to that they need to brush. If they brush their teeth then the enamel will get slimmer and eventually they will end up with a dentist. If they don't brush, the teeth will have cavities and end up decaying having a appointment with dentist. These all is a well structured set-up. You don't have any choice but you do have one choice of restricting some materialistic temptations to get more joy out of life. After I had the extraction of my first molar on the upper jaw and I was very afraid of anything that comes close to my mouth. I couldn't even speak a lot. My friend told me that that he even started eating the following day so I decided to eat and that was the most stupid thing I ever did in my life. Long story short, today marks exactly a few hours to a week since I had my tooth extracted and I have a dry socket. The pain has been real BAD but slowly going away. I can't believe I will spend Christmas not eating and spending my money on eating pain killers.

    Got my 3 front tooth extracted and I feel okay. The cold compress and meds really helped me after the extraction. The blood clot is present and I didn't spit it nor rinse it with water, I just let it form. Then I only ate soft food like porridge and drink water without disrupting the area.

      Almost 2 weeks passed, my experience:
      First 3 days were very crucial and one must need to take special care of. My dentist has recommended me 3 days medicine for pain and fevers which turns out to be very helpful. I avoided eating any solid stuffs in first 2 days. My diet was oatmeel, banana/mango shake, pulses only for those 2 days. I have avoided to use toothbrush next day, instead I used my forefinger and rubbed it slowly to the opposite side only. I have applied ice pack to the swollen part of cheeck for first 2 days 5-6 times in a day. Post 24 hours, I used lukewarm salt walter to rinse the mouth slowly slowly. Make sure you do not rinse with high pressure. I followed this rinsing method for couple more days 3-4 times in a day. I'm an occasional smoker so yeah it's not a big deal for me to avoid it for 3-4 days. If you have urge to smoke, please atleast avoid it for 2 to 3 days and later on put the gauze over your socket while smoking. A day after that, I used the toothbrush but still took proper precautions by using it slowly and avoided brushing on the side where extraction was done.
      After following all of this, not even a once I felt any pain and this journey was like a cakewalk for me. Hope this may help to some of you.

I had 4 teeth pulled out a few months ago so it's okay! Just eat soft food. Nothin too cold or hot. Like jello :0 I had my first extraction when I was in 3rd grade so it's really gonna be okay!

      @@damainogreaper1236 When I first got my very first tooth extraction my mom would give me jello, soup, pudding, soft black beans, cheese, and a bit of rice. I found that chewing didn't help at all. It just gave me more pain. So if my extraction was one of my teeth on the left side I would either chew very slowly on the right side or just cut the food and swallow it. Let my stomach do that work for me :'). After a few more extractions over the years I got bored of eating the same soft squishy food, but that's normal there's nothing you can do. So before an extraction I ate all my favorite foods and had my soft food be ready for me in advance so it'd be ready after the extraction. You could just let chew your food if it doesn't hurt just make sure it doesn't touch the gum where you had your tooth pulled out.
      Another example if you ever need this would be if you had 3 or more (hopefully you don't) teeth pulled out at the same time and you can't eat, would be just swallow. No chewing at all. It will be a lot more painful. I recommend smoothies but let the smoothies be really well blended so there are no small pieces that will hurt your gum. I once foolishly used a fork bc I thought that since it's been 3 days and well forks are my favorite utensil- It'd be fine. But I accidently had he fork touch my gum where it was healing and it hurt real bad. So use spoons. NO STRAWS- I'm sorry but noooo straws pls. That will saveee youuu. (if your gonna drink something just drink like you'd normally do but no straws.) The pressure you put on your mouth to try and drink with the straw will hurt a lot. If you end up getting braces too, after they tighten it no straws, at all. I tried that 4 days ago bc I had my braces pressured again and forgot that I couldn't use a straw so I just stared at my mango smoothie and waited till I got home to use a spoon or just drink from the cup bc I was outside.
      So yeah it depends on how many teeth and how many days it's been since the extraction. Ask your dentist too don't be afraid to ask. And if they don't explain well just use a search engine to help, and make sure you use the gauzes properly to help stop the bleeding. Hope this was helpful and apologies for making this so long lol.

    some how I got a dry socket.
    It hurt but not as bad as I thought it would.
    There would be times I’d start crying mid day due to pain but I thought it was just healing, not excruciating enough to go to ER

    I followed every instruction perfectly, but I had extreme pain on the left side in my cheek. So I finally was able to see what it was and it was a bone spurr from my jaw. A couple hours later I went to look at the bone spurr and noticed my socket had re opened, I started feeling intense ear and jaw pain, and I think the spurr dislodged into my socket: I now have to wait 2 days to go back and get it checked out. I’m on day 5 and my right side is perfectly fine but I’ve never felt pain like this. Even the pain killers are doing absolutely nothing.

    Guys I got a dry socket in a day. The 2-3 days it can happen bit doesn't mean you don't have one in less time. I got one the next morning after my extraction. Waiting 3 days in pain and just went for dry socket procedure yesterday and let me tell you it isn't as pretty as it seems. Not only did they remove the clot and part of my gums but they also shaved off some of my bone. Then packed it and stitched it up. Last night and this morning especially was the most excruciating pain I've been through this process and its not the gums that's the problem, it's the nerve in the head that is one of the biggest nerves in the body. It was so intense that ibuprofen or Tylenol together wouldn't touch it. I vomited many times. Not to scare you but this is the reality of it, it is no joke. I'm talking 4-6 hours straight of unbearable pain and most clinics tell you to wait a full day atleast before coming back

      HIV is a serious and recurring disease which can't be cured through drugs or injections by the American doctors but the best way to deal with HIV is NOT by taking natural herbs medicines but taking the Gammora Vaccine and Pills,and it's only few American, European and Arab doctors that know about this Gammora HIV Cure medicine from Dr Kurt Cullen from USA In partnership with Dr Oko-oboh I have read about Dr Oko-oboh the great doctor from African who can cure HIV with his powerful HIV medicine. for the people suffering from the following diseases HIV, Cancer,Hepatitis,Infections ETC should contact him for his herbal medicine because i am a living testimony and i was cured of HIV. Although, i sent him what he requested and he sent me his medicine which i took for 21 days and today when i went for test i was tested HIV negative. And you can also call/whats app him through His number:( +239150342309) or +1(904742-7471 he will help you out.Or you email Dr Oko-oboh now on doctorookooboh234@gmail.com .Rush Now and Get Urs..

    I got my wisdom teeth out it was the top right one and it hurts but isn’t so painful I didn’t know I had to brush with No toothpaste thoe cuz I’ve been using toothpaste. It’s my second day thoe. My dentist put something in that he said would help it heal faster and he had sewed it up which I go back in 2 weeks to take out but like hopefully it heals good And fast cuz I’m tired of eating soup and soft food cuz It doesn’t feel me. I looked online that I can eat soft cakes and cupcakes. Cuz I like eating sweets. But I’ve also been taking amoxicillin that he gave me and been trying to eat on my left side and hope it all works out

    On day, six of having a back tooth removed this has been one of the worst pains I’ve ever experienced. It’s actually getting worse. I can only speculate that I have dry socket. I have to go back tomorrow.

    When I was lightly moving the prescribed mouthwash in my mouth I found that I slowly let out (not spit, just let the liquid fall out into the sink) a super thin pink tissue, hope it's not the blood clot.

    • @iramcontractor1346
      @iramcontractor1346 3 года назад +12

      No it's not, don't worry! A blood clot would only dislodge if you were rinsing aggressively, and would appear as a really dark reddish brown semi-solid piece. Wishing you a speedy recovery!

    Got my tooth out today & i ate some food. I can see very small residual for particles in the socket. I’m scared to rinse before I should, so will the food particles cause an infection?

    • @iramcontractor1346
      @iramcontractor1346 3 года назад +4

      Gentle rinsing is fine, you can use a mouthwash if your dentist has prescribed one, or just warm saline rinses should keep the infection away. It's important to be gentle while keeping the area clean. Wishing you a speedy recovery!

    Well, let me explain mine. I had my extraction few days ago. My dentist put a cotton on my extracted area immediate after my surgery. I took it back after I came home. The day passed somehow. At night I woke up and discovered that my mouth was full of black blood. I was bleeding. I couldn’t stop it. Then I went washroom and I splitted. Then I had a lot more bleeding that was out of control. I was so scared that I Couldn't call my mom properly. Then I just lost my sense. My mom came after a while. Stood me up and took me to my room. Then she put a ice bag on my extracted area. Then the bleeding stopped. After that day my pain developed to the next level. I suffered a lot I cannot explain through words! After a week the pain gradually decreased. Now I'm fit glad to say! But I Won't forget the day no matter what happens with me for the rest of my life!

    So I got my 4 wisdom teeth removed about a month ago now ( Thank God I'll never have to go through that again) and everything was fine, up until about 3 days ago when the swelling came back, but only on one side. I thought everything was healed, but then I was struck with this. I finally got it to drain pus today, which was pretty gross but provided a lot of relief with pain as well as swelling. Don't really know what caused it, but I'm doing extra just to keep it clean and hoping it goes away soon

      it’s weird because i got a bunch of what looked like cold sores, and whiteness around the socket as well, i had a very minor infection due to dry socket but for me it was a weirdly bearable pain,, and yeah it’s normal to have discomfort when you swallow because the muscles contract or something i forget what my surgeon told me lol

    • @user-ts1zx7zl2z

      @@tminus-6152 well i obviously did not chew on the side where i just had my tooth extracted. I am in a foreign country so there's language barrier, the dentist only told me not to eat spicy food when i asked what to do/avoid. I also just impulsively asked to have it extracted right after my braces adjustment so i won't have to worry about it in the future. Oh and to answer your question, no i did not get an infection. the side of my face where i had my tooth extracted just swelled for a few days and i also had stiff jaw for about 10days so i can only open my mouth at a certain height. when i came back to have my stitches removed, the dentist told me that it's healing well. guess i'm lucky

    I have a ball which I assume is the blood clot. All I did was lightly burp involuntarily. I felt the clot loosen and it felt like it was going to come out. I didn’t but hours later I have severe pain radiating from there and it goes to temple.
    Sometimes…. You just have bad luck. Dry socket has been my biggest fear and I’ve done EVERYTHING I possibly could to prevent it. I don’t smoke, I don’t use straws, I sleep elevated, I brush extremely lightly and never around extraction site, etc….
    And it still happened.
