This whole diversion plan never made sense to me because of how suicidal it was, like how did that deputy driving the stagecoach not realize the bad guys would simply shoot him to stop the coach? It's not as if a stagecoach can outrun a pursuing gang. These dudes just got done murking an armored coach with a gatling gun.

It wasn’t love or respect though it was fear. He was a psychopath. He didn’t care for anyone. But he knew that if Ben Wade escaped without his help he would kill everyone who abandoned him, which he killed everyone in the end anyways so that fear wasn’t misplaced.

@@simle6010 they could have easily killed ben wade if they fear him though.

The whole plan was ridiculously stupid, what did they think the gang would do? Politely ask them to stop the wagon then let them leave once they found out he wasn't in it?

    • @joeycmichael3206

@@rickyray2794They were convinced the coach would make it to safety before the gang would catch up due to them thinking the gang was in Mexico. They wanted to leave their spare guys with the actual Ben Wade.

@@rickyray2794 Right?! This part of the plot always bugged me. It's as if the deputies were like, 'We'll just put on these red shirts and go off and die now. This is definitely the most useful contribution we can make with our lives. Good luck, Christian Bale!'
Also loved the marshal and his deputies that surrendered in Contention. Like, they just assumed the outlaw gang wanted dead or alive for dozens of murders would kindly keep their word and not immediately murk them as a loose-end.
