I don't understand any of your criticisms about the bracelet.
You say 'tinny' as if that is a negative. Tinny doesn't mean anything or have anything to do with function or comfort. I have Seiko bracelets with both stamped and milled clasps and the stamped ones are *way* more comfortable because they are thinner and don't dig into your wrist. The dive extension works fine. I have worn mine over 5mm and 7mm wetsuits without issue at surface and at depth.
You just keep saying it looks and feels 'cheap' without defining what cheap means. The watch is very functional, so it is not cheap in any way to me. Saying it "feels cheap" doesn't tell me anything about the watch. If a car didn't come with a radio I would call that cheap.

I agree with most of your thoughts and I must say that I too did not find the hands used in the turtle or skx appealing at all and I never understood why the forums raved so much about them but the more I started taking a closer look at the hands the more I started to appreciate them only because these hands somehow stands out in a much more weirder and non symmetrical way that makes them sort of unique with subtle magnetism to them! Thanks for the good content & review! Cheers from Bengaluru India

Hi Joseph thanks for the comment. The hands are a small issue I would say I don't hate them but I don't love them. I will say they're very functional obviously very legible and really with the tool watch that's what you want. Thanks again for the comment! Have a great day!

Love the look of the ion plating but can definitely understand the weakness of the plating and it being a scratch magnet. As far as the Seiko bracelet itself I own the Padi Turtle 🐢 and it has same stock bracelet and I personally don’t mind the Seiko stock bracelets but I know I’m definitely in the minority on this subject. As far as the handset definitely overused in the Seiko collection but again not that big of a deal for me . Chris I strongly suggest returning this watch and look into buying the new great white save the ocean turtle. When I was on vacation a couple of weeks ago I went to a Macy’s and to my surprise they had one there . It’s stainless steel with a new bezel insert that’s like an upgrade and even the bezel itself is upgraded and easier to use . I personally loved it and definitely like the new dial and bezel features much more than the this watch you own or even my Padi Turtle. Check into it Chris it’s an amazing Seiko Turtle 🐢 👍🏻

i like the look but the ion plating is really making me think twice. although i do have an old seiko snzd15 w/c has been in my possession for over a year now and its ion plating is holding up very well. so i'm a bit confused about the whole ion durability issue.
btw, in the far east, this particular model only costs something like $ 345. i didn't know it was that expensive state side.

Hey thanks for the comment. The ion plating on this watch was already starting to show some wear just from a few days on the wrist.. also the plating isn't covering the inside of the links I don't know if you could see that from the video. However I think I prefer the non-ion-plated either way I'm thinking about just getting the original save the ocean turtle... I do like this watch especially the dial. Please don't forget to like it subscribe. It's much appreciated and very helpful. Thanks again!!

Do what Random Rob likes to do: harvest the movement and face and all that out of this turtle and throw it into an SKX build. I agree about the ion plating....not a fan of either its scratch magnetism or the look.

Agree, the ion playing on all Seiko's is weak. I don't have too much of a problem with the turtle bracelets, if they can get rid of the stamped clasp they'll have a keeper.

    • @WatchChris

Yea I couldn't deal with the ion plate it's scratches Soo fast... Sapphire and better bracelet would make this way better...

@@WatchChris I've always been willing to overlook the lack of sapphire on their dive watches. The one crystal I shattered on a watch was a sapphire and I've learned of the trade offs between the two and why hardlex is their choice. In the end it's all about cost effectiveness or should I say the bottom line 😁

The stamped clasp is vastly more comfortable than the Seiko milled clasp. I've owned both. The Seiko milled clasp is slightly thicker and sticks out from the clasp housing more, digging into your wrist.
I've never heard anyone say why they prefer a milled clasp for any functional or concrete reason other than the stamped one 'feels cheap'. What does 'feels cheap' mean exactly?

    @jamess8175 5 лет назад +1

Nah! The ion plating in this case is a severe shortcoming. You won't be keeping it. Unlike the ion plating on the Casio G-Shock MTG B1000BD, the ion plating is top quality. That's a keeper. Do check it out

@@jamess8175 I returned it as fast as possible because of the missing ion plating from the bracelet it's really this could have been a defect either way I think I prefer a plain stainless steel turtle..

I wish they had a choice for the 6R15 movement in the turtle

Hey Ronald I think this watch without the eye on plating 6r15 and a sapphire crystal it would perfect. Maybe the clasp from the SPDC061 Since this is all pressed metal... So Seiko bracelets are cheap...shocking. Plated watches are not robust...a revelation. Don't like the handset? They were there when you bought it, no? No Sapphire....ah, on this we can agree. You can get one aftermarket, hands too for that matter, but for that money, it should come with. That said I do like my regular steel Padi Turtle. Changed the bracelet immediately to a Strapcode Jubilee..

    • @a_single_white_female

      What does cheap mean?
There is nothing wrong with the Seiko Turtle bracelet for me. They are comfortable, have micro-adjusts (4), and the diver extension works great.
I bought a Strapcode bracelet once and the edges were very roughly finished (sharp to the touch), the clasp was bulky and uncomfortable, and no dive extension on most Strapcode. The one Strapcode bracelet that had a dive extension is a one-way ratcheting type which too easily became over-tightened. If you are going to do a ratcheting system for a dive extension, the only function version I have ever seen first-hand is Tudor's but that is so far outside my price range. The Turtle does everything for me anyway.
