@@scrapitall200 after reading my first message I realized I forgot to say that your love/enthusiasm of scraping is contagious. I have found that I really enjoy doing this. I just need to find a balance for what is worth putting my time and effort into scraping for more value vs hurry up and get the house and property empty so it can go on the market. I’m kind of thinking about how to set up a small workshop at my house to do this in my free time for fun and a little extra cash here and there. Now that I’m thinking about it and have seen the cash and checks coming in. I have started to see all kinds of stuff people put out on the curb with a free sign on it. Really a lot of free money out there available you just have to spend a little time and effort to extract it.
I love scrapping, it’s a lot of fun for me and it is definitely a great source for extra money. Last year I made over $4,000 hobby scrapping. I hope my videos will help you learn things that will help you with your scrapping adventures.

Hey Scrapitall, Thanks for your videos, I enjoy them. What I do to get a little more clean copper from wire that has the end exposed, cut back an inch or two and the insulation comes right off pretty easily with pliers. Blessings

I like getting mystery boxes like that. I live in steel toe shoes, just never know when something like that happens. even when I wore cowboy boots going out and about they were steel toes, just never know what I might get myself into.
I was hoping that is was all copper because it was old but half is just as good. I wish all transformers were made like that. My yard has a minimum of 500 pounds of iron/steel before they will buy it: therefore, I do not save it. Here in NYC and Long Island, all the yards have a minimum. God Bless!

@@scrapitall200 That "old dangerous thing" was a thing of beauty, a work of art, built when pride in your work still prevailed, you should have called somewhere they restore antiques like neon signs. A ballast like that is hard to come by.

Absolutely, they can be so sharp. Fortunately I’ve never been cut by them yet, but I have friends you have and I take it very seriously. Thank you buddy.
I prefer to cut the welds with an angle grinder, but I think there's advantages to using a hammer instead. For one, you save money on grinding discs, as well as wear and tear on your grinder.
@@scrapperbrad it’s definitely faster. For me since I work in a shelter logic tent I’m worried sparks or hot metal dust will ruin the tent, plus I try to show ways of doing things without post tools since many new scrappers don’t have all the tools, I know I didn’t at first lol.
Cold chisel worked just fine with minimal effort. Lots of people who hobby scrap don’t own a grinder so I try to show different ways of doing things, but thank you.

Romex connector is Zink I do believe. I collect them to melt with a torch and pour. Most people toss them in aluminum.
You’re right. My yard pays me cast aluminum price for them and I got into the bad habit of calling them aluminum.

I cut the cords into 6 inch lengths. I can find and pull a piece to loosen up the others and pull all the copper out.

Be careful of those ceramic pieces, they can be quite sharp even slice through leather gloves👀
