In this Siemens NX CAD tutorial, you will learn how to use selection rules in a very efficient and consistent manner. The modeling technique is based on a single method, called horizontal modeling. Always relate your objects to the possibly oldest objects while creating an association. That's it. That's the rule you have to follow.
By the way - we are teaching the most efficient usage of Siemens NX within our Blended Learning programs and also offer a specific training which gives you the ability to increase the comfort as well as the stability of and during your designs.
To be honest, creating a boss relating text is tricky, because the used windows fonts are not clean enought for such complex scenarios. But anyway, the concerning methods describen within this video can be used to emboss custom sketches etc. as well.
You will learn how to create update stable debossments by following the horizontal modeling rule. You have a slightly higher time invest compared to making it quick and dirty, but at the end a huge amount of time will be saved, when you have to modify your embossment or debossment.
The thicken command is enhanced since NX1872 and allows you to relate several non connected faces at once. This fact can support your work a lot as you will see in the video!

First of all - thank You for sharing these excellent videos with everybody. They are all very informative.
I am a bit puzzled by your "extrude (7)" feature followed by the "Thicken (8)" however.
Could you not just have extruded from an offset value of e.g. -1 from the text curves and to the Extracted Face (2) as "untill selected". This would have given you the same result as "thicken (8)" does with "intersect" as boolean.
Do you find that the method you show is more stable?

Emboss a simple text isn't difficult anyway, but make it automated is so tricky!
Those letters are tricky to handle because they have lots of intersections and loops. Creation of extrude or thicken works, but when it comes to blend or draft creation, which don't have to be necessary, it'll become an unsatisfying procedure.
8:35 ok, machines are different and of course there are possibilities to manufacture both cases. I had my own possibilities in mind, when regarding this issue (;
I cannot get the edge blend of body edges in it (feature 13). A second later the feature was suddenly no. 15 by the way. It keeps giving an error, even after several times.
Clever ideas, but I think it's too tricky for average NX user.
Sure (-: That is why we have designed a complete training regarding the NX CAD Secrets and it's the best seller. I don't think, that every deign should look like this, but everything, that shall be reused^^
