The video shows an excerpt from the online training NX CAD SECRETS.

In this Siemens NX CAD tutorial, you will learn how to use selection rules in a very efficient and consistent manner. The modeling technique is based on a single method, called horizontal modeling. Always relate your objects to the possibly oldest objects while creating an association. That's it. That's the rule you have to follow. By the way - we are teaching the most efficient usage of Siemens NX within our Blended Learning programs and also offer a specific training which gives you the ability to increase the comfort as well as the stability of and during your designs. As example, a deformable part will be designed through a sketch on path and pattern along path. Also the boolean operation unite will be discussed, as many people do not use it in the right manner and problems are based on a wrong selection progress.
By the way - we offer a Siemens NX online training concerning modeling methods. Just get in contact (;

0:00 the goal of this lesson
1:06 create Studio Spline
1:52 Composite Curve related to Feature Curves
2:13 Create Sketch on Path
3:50 Create Extrude and internal Draft
4:31 Edge Blend related to Body Edges
5:10 Create a Pattern along a Path
6:28 Create a booleon Operation in the right manner
9:18 Edge Blend related to Feature Intersection Edges
9:41 Create Datum Plane on Path (on Curve)
10:25 Trim Body
10:32 Copy and Paste
11:12 Create a Shell related to the trimmed Faces
11:58 Replace the Path
It's really great that you put stress on the importance of referencing to the oldest possible stuff instead of what seems comfy right now.
Just selecting the closest thing at hand instead of thinking about it is messing up the model of in the worst possible way, regardless of which CAD system you are using.
You are quick (&dirty) only once but will be repairing forever.
Thanks to the NX Wizard!
Awesome ! I'll include more composite curves in my modeling technics from now ! Thank you :)
Very useful
ты как всегда крут!!!
Thts what something to learn bro actually appreciate that....
Very nice video my friend!
A
I've been learnning a lot!
God bless you!
Thanks!
Excellent!! Thank you!!
Superb and simple 👌
Excellent information!!
Nice!
Thanks a lot This helped me
You're welcome! Have a nice day (-;
unable to apply blend, try reducing radius , only 0.01 radius work.
so why just can't we use the orginal sketch instead of composite curve?
Not working properly in this case. The point set replacement would fail. You know what I mean? Regards
I don't get the composite curve usage here. It seems like there was no difference while replace spline and composite curve. Or the point is that while replacing composite curve instead of spline I don't have to show some datums, features which are needed to extrude etc.?
The point set behavior is better, when referenced to an additional composite. Otherwise, the replace of the reference spline is not working properly. You will know the difference, when performing replace or copy and paste😉
Hello, This looks very nice and copying all the steps it work but I has a limitation. Your curve cannot cross the datum plane that you create otherwise a big part of the tube will be trimmed away. Have I done something wrong or this is a limiation of this design?
You're correct, if the path of the Composite Curve traverses back across the Starting End Datum Plane, the Trim Body will Trim the Tube cutting off that length which extends back past the Starting End Datum.
Instead of using Datums to Trim, create a New Sketch Instead of the Datum Plane at the starting point of the Composite Curve and use a circle in the New Sketch of a sufficient size to create a face which you can then Trim the End of the Tube using Trim Body. Copy and Paste that New Sketch, Face, and Trim Body to the other Tube End instead of creating the other Datum Plane at the Tube End. I think that should work and eliminate the issue with Trimming to a Datum Plane.
Thanks John 👍
