    Great video, I like this exercise a lot! One comment, the additional Datum Axis was not used in this example, but I agree, if it were used, it does aid in simpler selection for downstream changes, i.e. being used for an explicit Horizontal References, etc., and one that can be moved independently from the Absolute Datum CSYS. Very cool!

    That's a one of smartest way I've seen to combine the extensive feature list NX is proposing. ACE !
    I have a question regarding the feature group. I don't see any feature number on them, are they "non timestamped groups" ? Why this type ?
    Thank you.

    • @Bizlearn_Siemens_NX_Training
      @Bizlearn_Siemens_NX_Training 2 года назад

      Hi Stephane,
      sorry for late response - the timestamp of the feature groups can be displayed via the timestamp column. The group always has a higher timestamp, that its members. So, it is not a parent of its content. Kind regards,
      Simon

    • @stephanelouvet1113
      @stephanelouvet1113 2 года назад

      @@Bizlearn_Siemens_NX_Training Hum, not sure is you understood my question. In NX customer default, you can choose which kind of feature group you prefer (Timestamped Only / Floating/ Both).
      Why in your case did you choose floating group (maybe I'm wrong but as there is no (xx) feature number, I assume they are floating groups then)?
      To me, flaoting ones are confusing as they can group "non following" features.
      Thank you

    I really liked this video and it was definitely demonstrative of the value of the selection filters, in a way I hadn't seen before. I've been reading a little more about RMS and other modelling methods. You called this "horizontal" design in your video, just thought I'd give you a heads up that it looks like that sort of method exists and is patented by Delphi, but I think their definition is different from yours. Do you know about that at all, am I mistaken in that they are different? Algorithmic/horizontal modelling, as you defined it, seems very powerful and more so than the Delphi version. Also, have you been able to replicate this behavior in other softwares effectively?

    Nice tutorial. One suggestion I might make, and hopefully comes across constructively.
    Skip explaining all the alternate ways to get where you're going. One thing about NX.. there are lots of ways to do any type of thing. I like the explanation of "why" you picked a particular workflow, but going back and forth on alternates kinda muddies up the instruction.
    Overall, very nicely done and again, thank you.

    Hi Simon, dankeschön/thanks allot for your work. At Min 07:57 you've defined the Extrude (8) as Child of the Composite Curve (3), it makes sense and I understand also why. Perfect! Wunderbar!
    Later on, by Min 12:42, in order to create the Boss Feature groupe, you've copied the entire content of the Frame Feature groupe and the Sketch_000, (why?), Mother of Composite Curve (3), without copying it, ( the composite.curve, again why? ) Althrough copyed without it's corect reference, but the wrong one, NX didn't gave no information or warning, how come? After pasting, you've obtained among the others, the Extrude (13), Child of Sketch_000, HÄÄ?? Now I don't follow anymore.. Questions:
    1- Why didn't the Extrude (13), screamed for it's righteous Mother, the Composite Curve (3)? Why NX allowed, through Copy/Paste operation, to "change" in the the pasted Extrude 13 to have another Mother, like it's GrandMother, I.e. the Sketch_000, how come?
    If this Behavior is standard by NX, than how can I trust it to copy/paste identically?
    It's not the first time when NX, replaces by it's own will references, as it pleases.
    Can you please explain, how is this even possible?
    Besten Gruß,

    Hello Sir;
    I want to sketch a polygon and control its side number by expressions. So by changing for example from 4 to 5 and get 5 side polygon. I have tried to use expression but I couldn^t add expression. Is there any solution to this problem ?

      Hi, depends on the NX version - but you can right click any dimension in the sketch and use the "add expression" option. In later releases, it is possible to enter the expression directly! I hope this helps :-)

    Hi. I am trying to learn NX and find your videos very constructive and helpful.
    My program does not look like yours. For example, tools are not as easily visible, but they are always there if I search for them. Could this be because I'm using the siemens student version? Understandable if there are light versions, but less understandable why there would be a full version where features are just harder to find.

    • @TheDistantDancer
      @TheDistantDancer Год назад +1

      Like at [8:15]. I don't have an offset option. Is this due to my version?

      I am using the default advanced Siemens roles for my videos...
      It is possible that your commands are minimized. There should be a symbol right at the bottom of each feature dialog, which allows you to maximize the commands. The student version has no restrictions btw.
