I don't understand why everyone (except me I guess) complains about beeps on Air Fryers, ovens, microwaves, any and all appliances. Unless the beeps are at 100 dB, who cares? Performance and longevity and support are the most important things. I don't have an Air Fryer yet, but if and when I get one it will be the Cosori.

Yes I think the beep is something that confirms I hit the button and got the function enabled! The beep gets my attention to tell me when I need to do something like add food or turn the food or that cooking is ending!

They do not bother me either. My dog, yes. He thinks beeping means the gas oven is going on. Some reason he’s afraid of the sound of the gas/ignition and goes upstairs and hides under the bed lol. He’s 80 lbs tough dog 😂

Oh and I'll also share my top 3 tips/time savers for AF owners:
1.) Foil or parchment flying up in your heating element and burning? Get 4 plain magnets to hold down the 4 corners. I bought a pack at Dollar Tree tho Michael's/Amazon surely have them.
2.) Basket annoying to wash? Just fill w/ water 1/2-3/4 full + a squirt of Dawn & "cook" for 7-10 min. Then just rinse. I also rec wiping your heating element while still warm after you cook greasy things to prevent future build up/burnt odor. I wear a kitchen glove for protection and use a damp sponge.
2.) Buy yourself a cake pan that fits in your AF. Use directly or line w/ foil. Huge time saver--no washing the entire basket. A cheapy pan is all u need. I bought a $25 AF silicone pan w/ a ridged btm but grease is v difficult to clean off the silicone & ridges are a pain to clean, too. My $1 cake pan trumps it & I have not noticed any cooking diff w/ it not having a ridged btm. I bought 2 at diff dollar stores but this one is $4 and fits the Vortex: a.co/d/aZWGBCC
*Bonus tip: Did you know PAM/aerosol oils are not recommended in AFs? It's bc they can build up over time (I thought it was bs but it happened to a pan I had w/ the same warning--that I ignored.) Invest in this Mistifi oil sprayer. All the others I bought need to be pumped, crapped out or only shot a stream not a mist. Avail in plastic or glass:

Great video. Got myself the Cosori after many hours of internet homework. Was a choice between the Philips XXL or the Cosori 5.8 quart. The reviews on the Cosori tipped the scales for me ultimately and I'm very happy with my purchase. Cooks great for a family of 4 and my wife thinks I'm a pro chef now 😉. Very good video! I have the Cosori which I like but purchased the Ninja because it has a ceramic cooking surface which is supposed to be healthier. The Teflon type finish on the Cosori started to come off and I was concerned it was getting into my food (I did purchase an extra basket). The ninja isn’t as loud as the Cosori which I like also. I do like the Cosori square removable basket better than the ninja round basket. I also like the presets on the Cosori especially for fish and shrimp. If the cooking surface isn’t an issue for you I think I’d go with the Cosori for the square larger basket. The ninja goes up to 450 degrees and the highest temperature on the Cosori is 400. They are both very good air fryers so basically it depends on which features you prefer.

    • @X22GJP
      @X22GJP Год назад

450 is a pretty high temp, and only good for rapid crisping, but there is such a thing as too high and too fast. I never put my older air fryer over 400 (204'C) on anything because it's a small volume and constant circulation, hence I didn't bother looking for that as a feature in my replacement.

Cosori is is extremely poor quality and should not be sold with all that Teflon coming off!

3 important maintenance tips esp for Instant Vortex owners:
1.) To mute/unmute Vortex, hold the time & temp buttons simultaneously for a few sec til it beepbeeps. If you own a Cosori you can do this guy's hack: ruclips.net/video/QpaQ6VxB54w/видео.html
2.) Grimey Vortex touchscreen? Water & sprays cleanser didn't seem to work great. What did was buffing w/ a damp cloth or paper towel w/ a lil Dawn foam or a teeny dot of Dawn.
3.) For those w/ or considering the Instant Vortex PLUS aka the one w/ stainless steel panels and potentially any of their other appliances w/ SS paneling like Instant Pots, etc.: do NOT use any abrasive or harsh cleaners or tools on the SS like magic sponges or scouring pads (this includes the finish on & around the dial knob). Do not set anything on the top that could scratch the surface even lightly. Tbh, If you don't need the dehydrate function go w/ the cheaper all black Vortex as the black plastic lacks this problem (and the machine itself is great).
Backstory/Potential fix: There is a thin (and I mean thin) clear coating over the SS I assume for anti-fingerprint. It can come off easily. I learned 1st hand as I noticed the front of my basket was spotty on one part so I tried wiping it and it didn't change. Jump to magic eraser and noticed it was getting worse. Turns out it was the coating coming off. Same for around the dial. It's not even a year old and only 3-4 months then. I also had 2 small flower pots atop mine atop 2 cork coasters and this also caused the top coating to come off looking patchy. I ended up stripping the basket's front coating w/ nail polish remover and buffing in a thin layer of mineral oil to prevent future rusting and to match the shine of the upper front panel that still had the clear coat. Debating doing the top tho it's not terribly bothersome just annoying. All this to say be careful w/ it. I was careful--or I thought--but it still happened (I just made the front worse trying to fix it tho my final workaround has held up). Just wipe w/ a soft cloth and if necessary a LITTLE gentle cleanser...perhaps Method AP spray? Even Windex might be too strong bc of the alcohol/ammonia. Don't set anything on the top or if you do buy a thin clear cutting mat to set down 1st like this: www.dollartree.com/flexible-chopping-mats-11x14in/145661

This is the first air fryer I have ever owned. It works well ruclips.net/user/postUgkxD4Qeo-HRLxMfom_PDinM_SBfes00qJsB and, if you use the proper supplied silicone tray, keeps the food separate from the oil\grease of cooking. I cooked pizza, hamburger, lasagna, etc all with good results. (I also purchased some paper inserts to cover the silicone trays, just not to have to clean the trays.) Recommended. Just make sure to REMOVE the PAPER INSERT below the air fryer tray before using the air fryer! And yes, I have experienced a bit of an "electrical"-type smell after cooking items. It seems to have gotten less with time and did surprise my nose the first time I smelled it.

Great video, very informative, I didn’t even realize 10 minutes had gone by. I decided on the instant vortex because of the simplicity of the controls. I don’t need all the presets, but I do like the removable basket of the cosori. For me I didn’t like the extremely loud 1990’s microwaveable beeps of the cosori. 😊 Also, the control panel on the cosori is a little hard to read for me compared to the instant vortex.

Thanks for the comparison, just looking at a replacement and eyeing up the Cosori. I'm not too convinced these are so cost effective given you need to spend money in the first place, and in my experience their life span (due to the nature of the beast) isn't quite as long as a microwave for example. But, they cannot be beaten for speed, convenience and texture.

I have the Cosori for about a year and a half now. The biggest fault I find with the Cosori is that the inner basket sides are near impossible to get totally clean, even with a stiff brush that I have been using. After using it every day for a year and a half, the non-stick coating of the basket has worn off quite a bit. I bought a back-up Cosori on sale, but now I wish I had not because of the previous issues.

I’ve been debating between the Instant Vortex and the Cosori. I think the main difference is in the basket. Some people like to pull out the basket and dump their fries or chicken wings out, so the Cosori with the basket within a basket would be better. They say with the Vortex, if you dump out your food onto a dish, any oils or liquids that have collected on the bottom will pour out, too. Plus some people say when they dump their cooked food out, the hot metal plate can fall out with the food. So you need to use tongs to take the food out. The advantage of the Vortex is that it seems easier to wash one basket plus a plate rather than the two baskets of the Cosori. Easy cleanup is important to many of us. America’s Test Kitchen rated the Vortex as their top choice.

@@judyh3017 Instant Pot with clear view and filter in my opinion is so much better than the Cosori. The Cosori control buttons didn't respond well and I had to keep touching them until they worked. The control knob on the Instant also makes it 100 times easier to select time/Temp. The basket issue is as exactly as you said. For me I have no issues with it dumping items like fries or shrimp out, but I do use tongs for greasy items. The plate did fall out on me once but now I am just more careful when dumping. One thing about the clear view is it does get very hot (not enough to blister your skin) on longer cooks but with the larger handle it isn't an issue.
