I agree. I think if Maureen McCormick had done the show and they'd dropped the over-the-top soap elements that got resolved way too quickly (Marcia recognizing she's an alcoholic), the show could have been a hit that attracted better writers. Been loving the HGTV "A Very Brady Restoration" extras here on RUclips. The "kids" were unanimous in their agreement that they wouldn't want to make another show playing their characters -- in part, I'm sure, because Florence, Robert, and Ann have passed on. I believe they said a reboot upholding the spirit of the original show would be the way to continue the Brady legacy.
The child actress, whose image is replacing a 12yo Maureen McCormick, looks the same age, maybe even younger, than Eve Plumb was at the time, 10, the 1st season pilot & intro were filmed, Fall 1968.
@@matthartleyjr9180 | "I am sure the picture is of Leah when she was younger..." man for someone who hated being in the original show. Robert Reed appeared in everything they did over the years. the variety hour , Brady Girls get married , Brady Brides series , A Very Brady christmas and the Brady's.
They deserved credit for bringing together everybody, including Robert Reed (who always hated the show), Ann B Davis, and the actors who played Marcia and Jan's husbands from the Brady Brides series. Shame Maureen McCormick didn't come back, though. Actually, I liked the series. It worked pretty well, all things considered, and it probably could have stood to continue another year or so. And as to the lyrics, heh, they weren't bad. Fortunately, Florence Henderson had the talent to make it work. At least, they didn't have the kids sing them.
This has Fake Marica. The variety show had Fake Jan. The Christmas special had fake Cindy. Only the Brady Brides pilot had all the original actresses in any Bradys reunion show.
I remember seeing these episodes matched up into movies on the Family Channel years back around the holidays. I always thought it was just made for TV specials as the Bradys had so much success in syndication that people wanted to see them in endless specials. I was watching TGIF at the time when this show aired. If Sherwood was serious about this show having a chance, it would have fared better on ABC at 10pm on TGIF and move 20/20 to another night. At least a full season or two would have worked before the plug was pulled. With this being Reed's last major appearance before his death, I can see the series using his death as a finale.
@@GSU2004 The Bradys aired on CBS , who put it on at 8pm to lead into Dallas and Falcon Crest. By this point, Dallas and Falcon Crest had slipped from the glory days - Dallas mainly since Patrick Duffy came out of the shower. (FC would end later in 1990). That timeslot put the Bradys against Family Matters and Full House on ABC, which were popular at the time.
The original show would have lasted a couple more seasons IMHO if the writers had allowed the characters to mature more, particularly Cindy. The fact that they had her doing that "Shirley Temple" routine toward the end of the fifth season when Susan Olsen was 12 years old, speaks for itself.
***** "The Bradys" was a last second idea pitched by CBS. What happened was after "A Very Brady Christmas", Sherwood and Lloyd Schwartz decided to released made for TV "Brady" movies every six months. CBS was desperate for a hit and convinced them to make a new series, in spite of their reservations (they thought a new series would hurt the franchise). The reason why Maureen McCormick is not in these is because with a young daughter, she did not want to commit to a series. If you notice, the first two episodes are written as if they are one movie as are the next two episodes.
Robert Reed was more comfortable with this as it was a more serious show and he of course was a serious actor, he STRONGLY preferred drama over comedy. In the original series he was miserable playing Mike Brady but brilliantly masked it in the episodes. I know he also reprised the role because he welcomed the opportunity reunite and work with the cast again.
Actually he wasn't. He openly feuded with Sherwood Schwartz over the scripts and direction of "The Bradys" as he did with the original show and spinoffs. In fact, Sherwood Schwartz was planning on killing off Mike Brady in a helicopter accident had "The Bradys" not been cancelled and come back from hiatus.
I had no idea of its existence. This has more bubble-gum than any candy shop in the world. I actually got a headache and feel embarrassed for them. It is so cheesy. Of course every Brady can do the 1% things that just aren't seen every day unless you're a Brady. Bobby's a race car driver and a champion but Greg the doctor that totally flew me through a loop. I loved it! First year of the 1990s there's a lot of 1980s in the background. So long ago hard to believe
I actually like the third theme song best. The lyrics really tie it all together, the Brady Bunch theme is as much an icon “character” as the family or the house. Though this series was short lived I actually really enjoyed seeing the Brady’s grown and taking on the World. Sure it was cheesy and the topics should have been drawn out longer than an hour-wrapped up, but it had potential. In someways, I think this show was ahead of its time and had it started within the last few years it would have caught on longer than 6 episodes. We are all looking for nostalgia and comfort, what’s more comfort than seeing the Brady’s “America’s Family” grown? Besides the original series, The Brady’s is my favorite connection.
OK! Some stations that show reruns of this use a fake opening (which is really an unused opening) using how the Bradys appeared in the 1990's instead of how they appeared in the past. It came in two versions. It was done to hide the fake young Marcia. Other stations use a really fake intro with a bit of the grid from the end of the standard intro and use clips from the show & A Very Brady Christmas full screen. It came in one version only. It also was done to hide the fake young Marcia as well.
Eve plumb wasnt interested in the variety show because she felt she couldnt sing. Susan olsen was on her honeymoon during the brady christmas special. Moreen mccormick had just had her child when this was filmed and wanted to be home.

That's right - a porn name to go with that pornstache.
@@ErisRising Tagline: The clowns still haven't laughed, but his beanstalk is GROWING.
The first version was the best, during the last one I laughed so hard Mug Root Beer went up my nose! Those lyrics were kinda special, if you know what I mean. Also, yes the new Marcia sucked, but did anyone notice Jan? Eve Plumb went and got pretty hot while our backs were turned! Just sayin'
I think this show kind of cemented why the Brady Bunch movie had to do what it did. The Bradys are nothing if they're not stuck in the 1970s.
Exactly. They will forever be viewed as a product of their time. The Brady Bunch and The 70s are synonymous.
RIP Robert Reed, Florence Henderson and Ann B. Davis.
I knew the show wouldn't last when they didn't have Maureen McCormick playing Marcia!
Yeah - totally f'ed up.
I am sure the picture is of Leah when she was younger
@@matthartleyjr9180 | "I am sure the picture is of Leah when she was younger..." If you watched the intro from the very beginning showing the grid with the Brady Bunch when they were all younger, all those headshots were not still-shots. The child actress portraying the young Marcia/Leah Ayres was smiling and moving. And if you're thinking that was CGI, keep in mind that technology was still a few years away.
@@MoniqueFromPlymouth yeah good points all around

Wow that's crazy I don't remember that version of the Brady Bunch.
Was it any good?
Finally a recent comment lol.
The Third Version with Florence singing had me tear up. Mostly because She, Robert & Davis are gone.
I wonder what they’re doing rn in heaven…

I loved this show. I was bummed it didn't last.
It didn’t last because Robert Reed died the following year RIP
😢
@@AnthonyWilliams-li5mz It was up against Family Matters and Full House on ABC, which were popular shows. So The Bradys had no chance.
@@AnthonyWilliams-li5mz It didn't last because it was awful and was canceled. Not because of Reed's passing.
@@brotherofjunk Not to mention that had it continued, Robert Reed was going to leave The Bradys anyway as he was disgusted with the show (and clashing with Sherwood Schwartz).
So an episode was scripted (not produced due to the cancellation) where Mike Brady dies in a plane/helicopter crash and Carol replaces him as councilwoman.
Greg looks like Bob from Bob’s Burger with that mustache
man for someone who hated being in the original show. Robert Reed appeared in everything they did over the years. the variety hour , Brady Girls get married , Brady Brides series , A Very Brady christmas and the Brady's.
Patrick Peralta I’m glad he did. ❤️
I seriously never knew about any of these other Brady shows until now
Well, he didn't hate the people he was working with.
They should've made the show where they all run a B&B together and called it The Brady Brunch
RIP Florence Henderson, Robert Reed, Ann B. Davis, Sam the Butcher...
Was Sam the butcher in this series?
They all look fantastic!
I like all 3 intros, even Henderson’s version lol
They deserved credit for bringing together everybody, including Robert Reed (who always hated the show), Ann B Davis, and the actors who played Marcia and Jan's husbands from the Brady Brides series. Shame Maureen McCormick didn't come back, though.
Actually, I liked the series. It worked pretty well, all things considered, and it probably could have stood to continue another year or so.
And as to the lyrics, heh, they weren't bad. Fortunately, Florence Henderson had the talent to make it work. At least, they didn't have the kids sing them.
marcia changed her hair face everything what
Different actress. Maureen didn't want to be involved.
This has Fake Marica. The variety show had Fake Jan. The Christmas special had fake Cindy. Only the Brady Brides pilot had all the original actresses in any Bradys reunion show.
6 episodes 3 theme songs.
I remember watching this when it came out. An attempt to give them serious storylines didn't work so well.
Shit it’s been 30 years since this show has been on. It was only 20 years from the time this show was on to the time the original was on
That’s how the Brady bunch became the bradys... hope nobody lost sleep coming up with that lyric
HAHA ... for real!! ... i'm still crying with laughter from how dreadful that was... you know Sherwood had to have written it.. hahaha
This show only had 6 episodes and 3 different theme songs!
The last version is the best. Catchy tune and lyrics plus Florence Henderson's great vocals.
Who the heck is that little girl at 0:00 that’s not marsha
"That's how the Brady Bunch became The Brady's"??? Absolutley dreadful
Oh yes, the version with lyrics was... terrible.
That's puke inducing.

+Jayd Lor I know :( Maureen McCormick made the Brady franchise the bomb! The original series she was great and the same with the Brady Brides
+Jayd Lor She came back for the "Day After Day: A Very Brady Episode" crossover!
She just had a baby at the time so she had other responsibilities to fulfill
Still ♥ Peter.
That smile.
As a straight 35yo male Robert reed was very good looking, young and old
I like the second version best. I wish this show had lasted a couple of more seasons.
+James Trout I know such a shame they couldn't get Maureen... Maureen McCormick was the bomb of the Brady franchise
Vagamente recuerdo esta serie de TV, sin embargo lo poco que recuerdo me entretenía y mucho, gracias por este tipo de programas, 😅
He was wonderful. In the 70' and on the 90'. A hanndsome impressive man!!
I didn't never see this or heard of it but ok parallel world I guess
I had no idea of its existence. This has more bubble-gum than any candy shop in the world. I actually got a headache and feel embarrassed for them. It is so cheesy. Of course every Brady can do the 1% things that just aren't seen every day unless you're a Brady. Bobby's a race car driver and a champion but Greg the doctor that totally flew me through a loop. I loved it! First year of the 1990s there's a lot of 1980s in the background. So long ago hard to believe
The what?? I’ve never seen this before 😂 This is so 90s!
I like this this show use to watch this in 90s

Sounds like this was on CBS 🤔

I don't care what anyone says. This show should have run for years.
Agreed. Felt the same way about the Brady Brides
Yessssss
Why couldn't they ever get all three girls on one reunion show. One always refused to show up at least once.
Eve plumb wasnt interested in the variety show because she felt she couldnt sing. Susan olsen was on her honeymoon during the brady christmas special. Moreen mccormick had just had her child when this was filmed and wanted to be home.
