Hi! For a week stay I would recommend an apartment hotel, there are many in the city for different budgets. Location wise I would choose nearby where you want to be visiting or next to a metro station for easy transportation. If you want to be in the city center, then I recommend Zhujiang New Town in Tianhe district.

I have been in Guangzhou for seven years. I still struggle with the language. As for the food, I still cannot get over how disorganized restaurants are when it comes to the timing of food. Mostly I got to BBQ places and hotpot now, so I actually have control over the food. I also enjoy the Chinese getting fatter and fatter as they just lap up western crap. Being in China about now is probably the best place to live on Earth due to the fact they already have communism and are not crushing the souls of people like in the West to usher in communism over there. Although trading in livestock has meant I have made zero money in a year. It is a pity that most of the old city was flattened to make way for such beauties as the Canton Tower. I wish I could get to the coast or up in the mountains, but my wife's work keeps us here. She is a Chinese national. I particularly liked when the Chinese people were told the flu rebranded was spread by foreigners and just loved always getting a seat on the Metro as people scrambled to get away from me! What my time in Guangzhou has taught me is that most people are morons wherever you go. I am an ex-pat twice. First the USA and nowhere. I will probably leave once they start forcing untested vaccines on people. But to end on a bright note at least at this time of year I am not constantly bathed in sweat.
