    Arcturus Mengsk betrayed Sarah Kerrigan and left her to die with to the Zerg. Because of this, he lost Raynor's loyalty. In this mission we have to shut down the Ion cannon so we can safely get off the planet, without getting shot from the sky. I decide to do so with a whole lot of Battlecruisers.

    That Mengsk speech is so iconic, I remember quoting a few lines in a non-SC/Blizzard forum yet immeadiately folks recognize those lines. One of the best parts of the first game 🤩

    The minerals are so far away from gas so that you could build several CCs and have tons of comsat stations and nuclear silos. There is no such rule as "1 base=1 CC" :) Go ahead, build 2 or 3! Have scans for days! Minerals are quite excessive in these missions. Same goes for hatcheries in the next campaign: you shall want to have alot of those if possible and distance between resources can help you with that. Same goes for the Protoss Nexi actually and that is not that useful compared to other races :)
    The computer does not expand his bases. You can check that simply by using the cheatcode for map (black sheep wall). However they can research upgrades over time. And since the enemy is mining that means the later you capture his base, the less minerals you'll have on that base should you decide to expand there.

    • @ArdFromRiA
      @ArdFromRiA 7 лет назад +1

      The multiple base buildings(Hatcheries) on the same base is also especially useful for Zerg. Extremely useful since there is no SC2 queen ability.

    • @TheHalogen131
      @TheHalogen131 7 лет назад +9

      Also, I think Blizzard tried to make minerals appear more "natural" in the campaign so they aren't arranged to fit perfectly with a CC. There's a mission on Char where there's only a single Vespene Geyser somewhere on the high ground.

    • @Sbastjan

      @TheHalogen131
      Exactly this. It's a friggin' campaign, it's supposed to be natural and immersive, not perfectly symmetrical as seen in multiplayer maps. Lowko is entertaining to watch and all, but he can also be so dumb when he tries and makes comments about these things...

    • @estellebright2579
      @estellebright2579 7 лет назад +1

      Sverr however, given that you can harvest infinite amount of gas in sc1, eventually you will end up having no enough minerals to do anything serious. I even end up building a ton of archons as forces late game in some Protoss missions.

    It's surprising how often and ferociously the enemy attacks in SC1. I would often get caught with my pants down in the campaign with a random AI nuke or massive attack.

    • @Nurk0m0rath

      Same here. Even coming in as an adult player, the counterattacks here are surprisingly strong versus sc2 campaigns.

      yes.. I had my units wiped out even when i had the best positioning of Marines, Siege Tank, etc. I had to set up checkpoints of Bunkers, tanks, and Turrets so i can rally and reinforce safely. I do miss that aspect of SC1 compred to SC2. SC2 you just steamroll it. *I recall in WoL that I did not lose a single unit.

    Fun fact ; That part in the briefing at the beginning where Mengsk goes "I will not be stopped,not by you of the Confederates, or the Protoss or Anyone! I will rule this sector or see it burnt to ashes around me." is the exact clip used in Wings of Liberty when you broadcast Mengsk's message, the one where Tychus unleashes the Giant thor on Korhal.

    That Mengsk grand speech in the end of Terran Campaign is the reason why I want him to be added in Heroes of The Storm! Just imagine him talking big on the battlefield, bolstering his allies (well, maybe at a cost, a terrible one sometimes...) and depress enemies, calling down the might of the Dominion and turning usual Keeps/Forts into unbreakable Bastions of Terran forces! Oh yeah...
    P.S. Lowko had witnessed the power of mass Battlecruisers. And their respectable Captains with heavy Russian accent :)

      Not sure if you refer to the overmind, but consider that he was based on Old Testament God and you might see why his lines might seem overly dramatic - he is literally in the process of creating... well, his creation. The Creation. Everything that ever was and will be. For the Zerg, rather than humans.
      Old Testament God is REALLY freaky from an alien perspective, or anytime you're not his chosen children.

    I discovered something funny about Yamato Cannon vs Gun. If you make custom hotkeys in SC2, there's a file stored on your hard drive with all the non-default hotkeys in your setup, and it actually says Yamato Gun. So I guess in the code of SC2, they still use "gun"

    Can we appreciate Mengsk's voice actor?
    He starts so calm, friendly, /humane/. When he needs something, he luls you with his demeanor and straight facts, just "we all obviously want to do this"
    Whenever someone would oppose, he instantly shuts them, but also explains why "it must be done".
    Once the jig is up, he knows there's 1% chance you'd keep working with him, but he tries with his grand entrance.
    When Jim shuts him, he sounds angry. Listen. He's not angry. He now knows there is no chance for continued alliance, so he switches on a dime and makes himself a threat: "I am busy becoming Emperor, so you two worms better make sure that once I'm done, I don't even remember you ever existed".

    Bases were designed in such a way that it is practical to bulid 2 ommand centers in each one. That way, you have the opportunity to operate a nuclear silo and a comsat station at the same time. So you have access to nukes, and scouting at the same time, and you don't have to build 2 CCs just for that purpose. But you can mine minerals from the first and gas from the second.

    @LowkoTV , I don't know if you will read this since I am a bit late, maybe someone else pointed it out(though I don't think there are warships fanatics here), but Yamato cannon/gun it's actually a reference to the Space Battleships Yamato's Wave Motion Gun, this making part of a movie. The Yamato-class battleship was the biggest warship ever constructed with a 72kilotons displacement(compared to 57kt Iowa and 54kt Tirpitz) and guns of 460mm(compared to 406mm of Iowa). This is a nice reference.

    My battle cruisers got totally destroyed by the Ghosts and lock downs in this mission. Kerrigan is no where near as badass as Overmind is. Zerg campain is great! The opening speech is really good!

    The wraith strategy works well, but you picked the wrong target. You can kneecap the red base on the left by swooping in and sniping the SCV's and taking out the command center. That cuts your opposition in half.

      That's one of my favorite things about original StarCraft and BW. You are YOU! You are the Magistrate, the Cerebrate, the Executor (although I think in SC1 Protoss campaign you actually "play" as Artanis, but I'm not sure). It makes you feel the immersion. Especially when
      SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT
      Du'Galle rebukes Duran to speak to you properly, since you have higher rank than him :D
      You are a Captain and Duran is a Lieutenant.

    • @thundersoul6795
      @thundersoul6795 7 лет назад +2

      Indeed, that added a great deal to immersion. And yes, you are Artanis in Episode 3, although in 4 you're you, an Executor.
      COUNTER SPOILERS WITH SPOILERS!
      He was actually referring to himself. He was an honorable man(rest in digested pieces), but very sensitive about ranks. Although considering the place at which Duran ended up being, everyone around him is of higher rank and thus Gerard could've been speaking for everyone. We shall never know unless one of the points will be proven correct by the exchange itself when Lowko will get to it.

    • @TheHalogen131
      @TheHalogen131 7 лет назад +1

      If I remember correctly he said exactly this:
      Spoile... ResidentSleeper

    But haven't you played StarCraft 2's single player story campaign? You shoulda known Mengsk betrayed Kerrigan to the zerg causing Raynor to go renegade, and founded the Terran Dominion, being a corrupt leader just like the Confederacy was. He's the main villain in SC2 after Amon (sorry to remind everyone of that character). Anyway, If you're so excited, then hurry up and play through and upload these already.

    Locko are you for real? Meinsk betraing kerigan was big plot point in SC 2 wings of liberty, uncovering that information and then brodcasting it took like 1/3 of all missons. Including my favourite and one of moust quite missons. This mission was even reworked into co-op misson. (I'm talking about stopping the train

      Viktor in SC2 you get it said very clearly he left her to the zerg and he left dice that lured the zerg it, and since Lokow played SC2 I find it rather odd for him to not notice.

    You know what's funny? Despite Blizzard trying their best to make Raynor the good guy, Raynor never much of a problem following Arcturus and his crazy revenge plan of killing billions until his girlfriend was killed. No no no, everything else is barbaric but acceptable, but the second it gets his girl then it's time to pull the boys and start a rebellion.
