"Radio Free Zerg is a zerg bonus track in StarCraft: Brood War. It can be played by entering the "cheat" code "radio free zerg", which has no impact on gameplay."
Uhhhh....I think you meant "feral" and yes, in fact they do go feral in SC1 with no master...(spoilerish) there's a campaign mission centered entirely around that concept...
Ah true, the first Zerg mission in BW I think... But then if you play the Protoss missions, slaying a Cerebrate just makes the Zerg go neutral and not fight anymore
Actually, no, I just checked and in the first mission the Zerg are not feral because their link in the hierarchy died, they are fighting each other because of a Psi Disruptor. Were you talking about a different mission?
Lowko Did you know? The Mutalisk was called "Mutalisk" because it was the first unit that was able to "mutate" into a Guardian (and later into a Devourer). Later in the game was joined by the Hydra.. Sadly in SC2 it no longer mutates into anything but the name remains. in fact is one of the few units that does not mutate at all :(
Parasite can be used to see what an enemy unit sees. Basically, it grants you the target's line of sight. It cannot be removed except by death. Medics in Brood War can remove it though
This was the mission that made me hardcore starcraft fan. I didnt know what was in the chrysalis. Then I found it was kerrigan I fell in love with the storyline from there.
No Lowko Char was already the homeworld of the Zerg, the overmind created you on Tarsonis to take care of the chrysalis then you traveled to the Zerg homeworld when you got strong enough.
Selwrynn Zerus is the homeworld of the Zerg. Char is the chosen "stronghold" planet in the Koprulu sector. Zerg have infested planets all over the Galaxy, and are WAY more massive reaching than the other factions
Technically Zerus is the zerg "homeworld" because it's where they originate from, but just like dark templars and shakuras, Char is their actual homeworld.
Garrett Reven in SC1, Zerus didn't exist. There were no "primal zerg", and the story was overall way better. Yes, Char has always been their homeworld.
Lowko, to properly do muta micro in SC1, you need to continuously do a sort of triangular movement to let them group up because they will spread out over time naturally otherwise. Then, if you're new to it, it's easier to go very near the closest enemy or missile turret and hit "h" just as they are within range. The 'target fire' method is better but harder to execute sometimes.
Radio Freee Zerg is indeed treated as "cheat code" due to engine limitations at that time, but in reality it is only an Easter Egg activated by console-like command - something similar to "players 8" in Diablo 2. So in the end you don't get any advantage Lowko and you're not punished for using cheat code - not that game would punish you for any other cheat code, it's not HoMM3 ;)
Other thing regarding Radio Free Zerg - it also works in single player matches with computer. So you can just start some custom map and check what Radio Free Zerg does Lowko :)
Parasite gives you vision of the unit. Pro Tip: Use it on detectors like observers to get detection the enemy don't destroy, doesn't work well against Terran, they can restore.
Another fun fact: Due to the old mechanics the way they change the color is just making a new player controlled by an inactive A.I, which has always a different color, and its marked with the ''rescueable'', which makes that the first unit that comes close to it gets the control. Heroes in this game appear just like in the second mission when you rescue a colony
also: 1) gain control of all units of "rescueable" player if you touch their command center (see the terran mission with downed BC) 2) standard SC had no command in script that was able to give units to other player (same for WC2) until it was added in Brood War. 3) the last slot for Kerrigan abilities will be filled with... something... You can see that one of the skills belong to terran (cloak), one to zerg (slowdown)... soooo guess what's next
NetTrollStuff NO SPOILERS! Though, it'd be hard for Lowko to actually guess the ability. And even if he does, knowing the ability early doesn't really impact anything.
This is what I kinda missed from Sc1 in Sc2, it really feels nice, having a purple-colored building producing blue-colored units. This also made me have extra caution with units that had different colored suits, like thw white marines from the Norad II mission, I kinda think of them as "Semi-Hero units"
I like using parasite on the critters to have incognito map vision. In Brood War, if you mind control queens, you gain the vision of the critters they have cast parasite upon. The flying birds on Shakuras go all over the map.
I still remember this mission for the 1st time back in the day, I went "wtffff" when Kerrigan popped out, good times. Who would have thought the series would have grown into what it is today.
Yeah but to realise what she's become during the mission, that was pretty mind-blowing. It's easy now since we all know what infested Kerrigan looks like and what she is, but back then that came as a total surprise.
LOWKO!!! Tips for SC1 campaign. Anything that has to do with a hero is going to be teal color. So the blue CC could have been killed and the mission would continue. Raynors CC was teal thus ending the mission when you killed it. So from here on out, when you see a teal colored unit in the campaign, it is a hero unit.
LOWKOOOOO one more thing. After the next mission "The Amerigo", you NEED to tell us how do you feel about the cinematic that is after it :3 It's one of the most beloved Starcraft cinematics by the community, and my personal favorite ;)
Hey Lowko, Parasite works like an observer. Use your Queen to parasite a dropship or something else, and you´ll see what they see until the unit dies or get healed from a medic (Only in Brood war) works on bio as well as on mech units. Queens are necessary for the missions later on.
Once she hatched from the Chrysallis, she was tethered into being loyal to the Overmind. It was just her damned ,**shudders** ,human instinct to call to him.
Terran Kerrigan cries out to Raynor for help due to fear and pain. Zerg Kerrigan basically says, "Kek. You're fucked. Shouldn't have listened to me when I was weak."
I didn't used to, but when SC:R came out I've used all of them and it actually makes the game a lot easier cuz the heroes are OP - just requires a little bit more awareness of what your units are up to. Only exception is Fenix (Zealot) because that's like having canon fodder as a hero.
Lowko, infest an unit with the queen alows you to see what the infested unit see(it's not a detector though), so you dont have to scout with your overlords. its useful on units that tend to wander around, like dropships, observers, science vessels or even workers
It works as a detector only if you infest detector units like scouts and science vessels as well as other overlords, you can also infest critters as well to explore the map and act as early warning detection
the muta micro pro's do they do it like that because apparently if you do it right the muta's can attack from a much further distance and I believe if you fly diagionally or at certain angles the muta's fly faster. Also there's techniques to make the muta's turn around without them losing speed.
Just to let you know, if you don't, queen ate useful: 1- parasite: cast on any enemies (bio and mechanical units) and you can see what they see, but can be removed by medic. 2- broodling: kills any enemy and cause two broodling for a sort time. 3- ensnare: slow your enemies. Plus all three cost energy, so use that in your advantage Lowko.
The Infested Terran that come out of an Infested CC are WAY different than the Infested Terrans in SC2. They are like super banelings! It is fantastic.
Hold Position with muta ball when you get within range of marines. Move within range, H, Move away. They will engage and attack more quickly. This is obviously most effective when a single marine or whatever gets further away from the others. One reason mutas are stronger against marines because you can't clump-stack marines literally on top of one another. You can engage and retreat and wither them away.
Lowko, Queens are amazing in this game! The parasite gives you vision of the infested unit until it dies and the spawn broodlings can destroy even a siege tank instantly and spawn 2 broodlings. I loved rushing them and hitting the mineral line with that spell xD
It's a shame this is the only mission where you can infest command centres, but at least Brood War makes up for that with the side objective in Zerg mission 4.
Brood War AI is even better and harder. When I beat the Zerg campaign in BW without cheating, that truly made me feel like the Swarm. SC2 couldn't capture the same feels I had with that.
The micro-tricks in Starcraft: Remastered, as well as certain limitations such as 12-unit control. is what makes this game feel like it really stands out. :L ALSO the "Radio Free Zerg," even though it's activated via a cheat code, is TECHNICALLY NOT CONSIDERED A CHEAT! All it does is play a bonus soundtrack exclusive to zerg! Like so he can see!
I actuaaly did the mission like the overmind said. Destroy all terrans. Might be a spoiler for you. in the south is another terran base, more easy to take over/infest. ingested terrans are like pretty heavy banelings. 2 infested can take down a missile turret.
Hey Lowko, you can spend money easier if you put multiple hatcheries at the same location and select larvae with a Ctrl+click. Other than that you should try clicking on unit portraits many times (especially Terran units). And muta works best with a burrowed unit in the control group. Great videos! Keep up the good work:-)
I'm sure others have mentioned it already. But you can parasite critters on the board too to get vision around the map. That was one of our old tricks. We would parasite them (especially flying critters) and get their vision. And if you are playing another human opponent they really just blend into the background as most don't pay attention to them. And the only way the opponent knows they have been hit with a parasite is by clicking on them. Then they are forced to kill them or you get to keep that vision.
Lowko, if you ever read this: You should replay this mission and infest one of the cc-s which isn't Jim's (there's another in the bottom of the map as well). So that you can try out infested terrans. Just look at their stats, you'd have a blast. ;)
Radio Free Zerg is a zerg bonus track in StarCraft: Brood War. It can be played by entering the "cheat" code "radio free zerg", which has no impact on gameplay. It can only be accessed in single player Brood War games when playing as zerg, so the only campaign it works in is StarCraft Episode VI.
Great job as always Lowko! Really enjoy these videos. One thing i realized while playing SC2 and then adding together the lore from SC1, is the formation of "Raynors Raiders" you dont really get an explanation as far as i´m concerned? But I love it how Blizzard always sneaks in small hints in their games. Aaaanyway I might be rambling, carry on.
The queen parasite is to grant you vision of a target forever until the unit is killed: AKA if you use it on a dropship and it flies around the map, you get full vision of what it does
yeah, "radio free zerg" is kind of a cheat code. but all it does is enable an additional soundtrack of the same name. not really an unfair advantage. )))
Starcraft is a lot more about zones of control, placing units like Siege Tanks or Lurkers and strong static defences in strategic positions and locking down areas, while (last time i checked) SC2 is about death balls trying to outmanoeuvre each other. The fact that it’s a lot harder to stack a lot of damage into a small area due to the pathing, scbw favours things like skirmishing with small forces and flanking for maximum damage and makes weak units feel more powerful since they don’t necessarily instantly blow up (lack of smart targeting helps with this as well).
Overmind: Lowko, you grow more cunning with each passing battle. Indeed, you are a testament to my will and the fury of the Swarm! Lowko the cerebrate: Ey, ey, ey! I wanna infest the Command Center! *retries* *Kerrigan dies* Overmind: -_-
Parasite : Gives you vision of a unit as if it was yours, just like the oracle's revelation, except it's for the remainder of the game. Spawn broodlings : Destroy a unit and summon two broodlings in it's place (Except reavers, archons, dark archons and flying units) Ensnare : fungal growth-like ability that lasts longer but slows instead of snaring and doesn't deal damage. Also reveals cloaked units. Infest Command Center : Infests a command center below half HP, allowing you to spawn infested terran from it. (Banelings on crack, dealing 500 damage upon ATTACKING, they will not deal any damage if killed. They will also just commit suicide if you order them to attack somewhere with the A+move command.)
The parasite ability of the queen is actually supposed to allow you to Spielbergs on the enemy through the enemy's own eyes. If you cast it on that drop ship, it would of revealed the rest of the Terran bases, otherwise it doesn't actually harm the unit it's cast on.
Up until this point I watched every single one of your SC:R videos but I wasn't even subscribed. I don't know how I keep coming back to your videos on accident so might as well subscribe!
To infest a command center it needs to be injured pretty badly (I think around 700 HP maybe less, red for sure). This is the only map in SC1 where you can get Infested Command Centers and Infested Terrans until Brood War, which has at least 2 missions where they are available. Infested Terrans are Fast moving Banelings with a Damage Output equal to a SC1 Nuke
Parasite - grants you vision of the unit until it dies, and if you parasite an scv and it builds something the building and all units from that building will also grant vision. in Brood War medics can clean away the parasite with an ability upgrade.
Parasite is an amazing ability in multiplayer. It allows you to see what targeted unit sees and the only way to remove it is to kill that unit or use medic's ability Restoration. If you are familiar with Warcraft 3 spells it's similar to Faerie Fire of Druid of the Claw, but it doesn't lower any defense.
Char is the location of the Primary Hive Cluster but I don't know whether it's where the Zerg were created. It is possibly where the Overmind was created so it's possible
Try muta control with H(hold) when you attack towards them (hitting bulk unit) P(patrol) when you want to attack from the opposite of the direction of moving A(attack) when you want to hit single unit like (high templar or tanks etc) - Korean player
Parasite placed on an enemy unit will allow you to see what they see, great for placing on transports. Spawn broodling will kill a living unit and produce 2 temporary units.
how can you misjudge the main command center??it has different colour and turrets all over it!! had you infested the other one the mission would continue..
I hate how minerals in SC2 are always so perfectly placed. In old SC it feels like you actually started base near naturally occuring minerals instead of "bringing minerals" to existing base.
When I have queens I like to infest the some of local wild life with parasites, especially the flyers in later battles. That way you see everything they do. The flyers go all over the map and done usually don't get shot at. Great scouts
From a characterdevelopment standpoint Kerrigan is kind of the Sylvanas Windrunner Precursor, since WC3 came after StarCraft. I think she inspired Sylvanas AND Illidan as Chaotic Good Character.
infest command center is for make infested terran and is a Baneling like unit but is deal 500 damage and aoe . And parasite of the queen is similar to reveal in SC2 but is permanent
I searched the channel, can't find any Wings of Liberty campaign playthrough, but he does have full playthrough of Nova Ops, Legacy of the Void, and also Heart of the Swarm but only up to the Narud mission 16, can't find any Swarm campaign missions after that point.
3:26 = you hit some combination of keys that darkens the minimap, then hit probably again at 5:00 that brings back the map terrain.. IDK what it is but it's quite annoying for some of us that actually look at the minimap during the vid :P
Lowko I don't remember if you've already done this but at least once or twice could you show the old graphics during the mission screen so we can see what the people/things talking used to look like.
"Radio Free Zerg is a zerg bonus track in StarCraft: Brood War. It can be played by entering the "cheat" code "radio free zerg", which has no impact on gameplay."
Didnt starcraft 1 tell you that you are a dirty cheater, i believe at the end of the campain ?
Michał Złomańczuk the remastered allows u to to play in base game too
JokoCi instead of "Victory" or "Defeat" You would get "Cheated" at the end of the mission.
Michał Złomańczuk though, isn't it only on Brood War?
This needs more upvotes so he'll know it doesn't impact gameplay.
Lowko: Am I forced to drop?
Kerrigan: Yes, Cerebrate.
Mister Whiskers that was damn funny
LOL!!!
Ofcourse the overlord is sad. If i were a larva and lowko will make me an overlord instead of a magnificent zergling i will be kinda depresed.
Overlords control the zerg, so it would be pretty cool imo
Especially in SC1 where Zerg didn't become "Primal" when they lost their link to a master, they just basically became braindead.

Hugo Osvaldo Barrera Aye, sticking parasites in every flappy bird thingy that goes past your base can give you a lot of free vision
^Mutalisk?
Basically Starcraft 2's Revelation from the Oracle but permanent and only targets 1 unit.
HappyĂpollo117 , it is Kakarus, not the mutalisks.
Warmach1ne 32 and it's a large vision radius than Revelation.
Dont worry. "Radio Free Zerg" is just an easter egg. no cheat and no profits.
As i remember it activates as a cheat
Does not work on sc1 tho it's a brood war Easter egg
This was the mission that made me hardcore starcraft fan. I didnt know what was in the chrysalis. Then I found it was kerrigan I fell in love with the storyline from there.
"Radio Free Zerg" Won't give you any in-game advantage, it just increases the awesomeness
Technically Zerus is the zerg "homeworld" because it's where they originate from, but just like dark templars and shakuras, Char is their actual homeworld.
zerus is the primal zergs homeworld. the swarm has made char its homeworld. clearly you dont live for the swarm
Yeah what that guy said.
Garrett Reven in SC1, Zerus didn't exist. There were no "primal zerg", and the story was overall way better. Yes, Char has always been their homeworld.
RADIO FREE ZERG enables a hidden soundtrack for the zerg, it wont alter the gameplay. Is the best song ever.
Lowko, to properly do muta micro in SC1, you need to continuously do a sort of triangular movement to let them group up because they will spread out over time naturally otherwise. And regarding clicking critters - 14 times in a row, where critter replies with sound :)
Other thing regarding Radio Free Zerg - it also works in single player matches with computer. So you can just start some custom map and check what Radio Free Zerg does Lowko :)
also you have to click the critter not drag a box over it.
Kevkos and if you really find it that bad you could always save first.
I think the other cheats disable the score at the end of the game, but Radio Free Zerg is an exception, same as OverEngineeredCodPiece in Starcraft 2.
Parasite gives you vision of the unit. Pro Tip: Use it on detectors like observers to get detection the enemy don't destroy, doesn't work well against Terran, they can restore.
Restore is from medics, which come in during Brood War. In this mission, parasites are mostly useful for detecting drops.
Yeah, Parasiting the drop ships is quite nice. :)
Fun Fact: All special units and special objectives are highlighted by different to everyone else player color
Another fun fact: Due to the old mechanics the way they change the color is just making a new player controlled by an inactive A.I, which has always a different color, and its marked with the ''rescueable'', which makes that the first unit that comes close to it gets the control. ''Rescuable unit never move, or anything alike.'' I dint find the exact words tbh... but i though that ''Inactive'' was more than clear to explain it
also:

2) standard SC had no command in script that was able to give units to other player (same for WC2) until it was added in Brood War.

Perfectly logical. He was just too late and, really, haven't any chance anyway. But when she called for him - she doesn't know that.
Sunkens are not expensive at all. Drone + Creep Colony + Sunken = 50 + 75 + 50 = 175... CHEAP
They also do 40 explosive, which is hilariously powerful against heavy ground units.
@@Appletank8 Ahhhh sweet molten dragoons
@Ž Š photon cannons also only do 20, bunkers do 24. though note that zealot shields still take the full 40.
"Am I going to be forced to drop units here?""Yes, Cerebrate."
Rofl
32:47 The facepalm that we all made back in the day when Kerrigan accidentally dies and screws the whole mission, priceless!
Yavuz Köroğlu That's why I never use "must survive" hero units in offensive combat unless I have to.

It works with Vanilla in Remastered as BW is integral part now.
I actuaaly did the mission like the overmind said. Destroy all terrans.
Might be a spoiler for you.

The queen parasite is to grant you vision of a target forever until the unit is killed: AKA if you use it on a dropship and it flies around the map, you get full vision of what it does
i never really got to play the full SC1 campaign, so this series is kinda special to me. i with it was more frequent. the uploads, i mean.
yeah, "radio free zerg" is kind of a cheat code. but all it does is enable an additional soundtrack of the same name. not really an unfair advantage. )))
zerg radio is a cheat code to change the music of the zergs, its like hearing terran up the night in the middle of a mission on WoL's campaing
Spawn broodling, so broken. You can one-shot tanks. I usually parasite the dropships for map vision.
Overmind: Lowko, you grow more cunning with each passing battle. Indeed, you are a testament to my will and the fury of the Swarm!
Lowko the cerebrate: Ey, ey, ey! I wanna infest the Command Center! *retries*
*Kerrigan dies*
Overmind: -_-
something to note about kerrigan, she is considred as a light unit, and will take extra damage from firebats and anti light unit characters.
TIP: parasite flying neutrals, they'll scout for you
I was sooo looking forward to this last night
Parasite : Gives you vision of a unit as if it was yours, just like the oracle's revelation, except it's for the remainder of the game.
Spawn broodlings : Destroy a unit and summon two broodlings in it's place (Except reavers, archons, dark archons and flying units)
Ensnare : fungal growth-like ability that lasts longer but slows instead of snaring and doesn't deal damage.
Char is the planet where the main hive (in the koprulu sector) was located at that time. The zerg homeworld is Zerus
Campaing tip: Use parasites on creatures and Dropships. In a few minutes, you will clear most of the map, and will know everything about enemy base.
Infested Terrans are Fast moving Banelings with a Damage Output equal to a SC1 Nuke
good guess, you were very close. its 750hp
Parasite - grants you vision of the unit until it dies, and if you parasite an scv and it builds something the building and all units from that building will also grant vision. in Brood War medics can clean away the parasite with an ability upgrade.
Hey lowko quick hint. If you want to know a units damage or armor it has you can move your mouse to the the place under the number of kills of a unit.
27:27.that moment when u got your question answered.😲😲😲
Watching you run up the ramp instead of dropping your lings and hydras behind their siege tanks was painful
remotely nearby! humorous oxymoron served daily courtesy of LOWKO! XD
I remembered at some point, human Kerrigan transformed into the Queen of Blade.
I like the music (radio free zerg turns it off) and your gonna want an overlord with your units always they are your detectors in sc 2
:-D love your videos, keep up your fantastic work!
7:43 LOL so oblivious! I love it! In for a nice surprise!
Lmfao! You gotta scout with either mutas, or empty overlords.
how can you misjudge the main command center??it has different colour and turrets all over it!! had you infested the other one the mission would continue..
I like the SC1 mineral and gas setup. It's inefficient from a gameplay standpoint but I think that makes more sense from an immersion standpoint.
I hate how minerals in SC2 are always so perfectly placed.
In old SC it feels like you actually started base near naturally occuring minerals instead of "bringing minerals" to existing base.
*destroys Raynor's command center*: I guess it doesn't actually matter which one you destroy
Bruh, amazing
[enter] radio free zerg [enter]
you have to experience that to get full SC picture Lowko. Don't worry - trust your dedicated fans ;-)
When will you make extra hatches? You need that production!
in original StarCraft Kerrigan doesn't have that much of "wings" on her back, that looked more like some sort of spikes
I'm just enjoying fresh meat playing Starcraft campaign lolz. Love the content Lowko
Teal is the color of hero units in SC1. The main command center was the teal, not the blue. ;-)
There's a great deal of micro with mutas if you're muta balling. If you want to give that a try, I suggest looking up Jaedong.
The "parasite" ability of the queen could of gotten the terran dropships to of done your scouting for you.
Quality content, keep it up!
You can also get the muta clump by right clicking them over a mineral patch
Will you play some arcade in remastered if you done with The kampain?
What's that? Metapod is evolving!
infest command center is for make infested terran and is a Baneling like unit but is deal 500 damage and aoe .
And parasite of the queen is similar to reveal in SC2 but is permanent
It was Raynor's command center, and it does matter which one you destroy/infest haha
Btw could you make a let's play of the liberty campaign as well as the swarm campain after thid one? Would be great!
he already has played those campaigns, check out the channel (:
I searched the channel, can't find any Wings of Liberty campaign playthrough, but he does have full playthrough of Nova Ops, Legacy of the Void, and also Heart of the Swarm but only up to the Narud mission 16, can't find any Swarm campaign missions after that point.
biembi445 ni he hasnt, he just played the void campaign and nova's!
3:26 = you hit some combination of keys that darkens the minimap, then hit probably again at 5:00 that brings back the map terrain.. IDK what it is but it's quite annoying for some of us that actually look at the minimap during the vid :P
Lowko I don't remember if you've already done this but at least once or twice could you show the old graphics during the mission screen so we can see what the people/things talking used to look like.
feels good
Lowko, why doesn't you check the amount of attack and defense of the unit? :0
FYI, the Teal Command Centre is Raynor's, not the Blue one
