I have a few of these, all mounted, even the coconut one that is so commom....it is on a large piece of cork for couple years now....others are from Andy's. All doing well with a couple that have bloomed since I got them a few months ago....I water every other day and they seem happy....intend to get more as they become available . I have a very varied assortment of genus now thanks to Andy's and am sticking with mostly mounted!
Thanks Wade! Love Maxillarias...would always like to add more to my collection. I too struggle with the spotted leafed one..easier to write that then attempt the name hehe. i had one recently for over 2 years that produced growths and then just flopped over one day.. Had such high hopes as i had killed previous ones much quicker. LOVE the last one..i have a similar growing Max. elatior which has smaller orange flowers that are fragrant. and got a Maxillaria chacoensis from ecquagenera this spring that has bloomed off and on all summer and fall and it is suppose to be a cool grower..go figure. Happy growing and thanks for all the tips
Svetlana's Happy Orchids Светлана а вот я не первый раз вижу как пересаживают, на сухую рвут корни, на сухую утрамбовывают в горшок.... это что обычная практика какой процент приживаемости?
Thanks Wade, great video. I love Maxillaria, I have 7 species (but mainly little ones). It all started with schunkeana..... I find them mostly pretty easy to grow indoors (in the Pacific Northwest north of 49) where it isn't hard to have a cool grow space. My most pathetic is reichenheimiana, at the moment I have almost as many blooms on it as leaves (2, 3). Yours looks positively spectacular in comparison.Do you have any specific tips for this one?
Thanks. Mine has had a bumpy life and has been knocked off its shelf and out of the pot once, and a few leaves were broken off at the time, so I guess that didn't help. I will try giving it a bit more shade than the others. My sophronitis has really flourished since I mounted it, and I think they are great plants for those of us with small spaces (OK there is a bit of greenhouse envy here... :) ), so thanks again for sharing the info.
Hey, where’s Wade? I miss him! Must have gotten snowed under by all this crap weather. Hope your well. I know you must have one awesome bloom you want to share c”mon dude!
Paul I’m really sorry that I haven’t done any videos lately. I have to get a new camera. I’m doing well and hopefully will be doing more of Wade’s Orchids soon.
Glad you're well. Hope that nasty ice storm didn't mess you up. Got a green house built (nothing like yours - way smaller) and now putting in water and electrical. Trying to think how I should transition my 'chids to the space without shocking them too much. Happy camera shopping.
We miss you! I must have seen this video and bulbo one 20 times ! I am in love with maxillarias and bulbo and neofinetias and paphs and orchids in general ahahha
Sherry Walker the best price has been on Amazon. You have to be very careful with it. I have had it damage certain sections of Dendrobium and some other genera. Repeated applications of neem oil is pretty effective.
Yes, it's the same media. You can "fine tune" it by the amount of sphagnum that you use. If you feel you need it to dry more quickly just use half the moss.
It is so nice.Greetings from Brazil.
Great tips!

Informative video. "Safari" spray?
I'd love to see how this plant is doing. I have a similar Maxillaria on order. Happy New Year.
Thanks wade, maxillaria grows like grass indoor, I have one.

I'm growing it with a bit more shade than the others and in the mix I detailed in the video. It's a real challenge! Good luck with it.

I have that one too...reichenheimiana. I keep having blooms blast and it isn't growing that well.
very nice vidieo as usual! I recently purchased a tenuifolia... how do you deal with fertilizer?
Fertilizer is pretty standard. I use less in the winter on all my plants.
Tell me the name of the spray you are using for mealies and such. PLEASE!
Thanks so much! Can you speak more on the fragrance of each?
The best thing is to research any species that you are interested in. Some (like tenuifolia) are very fragrant while others have none at all.
Repoting orchid is fun
Hello, good video, sorry I have not noticed but what is the name of the first maxillaria? Thank you
It is Max. variabilis.

Have you stopped you shipments until Spring?
Sherry Walker yes. I’ll start shipping probably the 2nd week of April.
hi Wade just found your channel... have sent you a message
Wade where are you?
Where do you get your Safari (?)?
Sherry Walker the best price has been on Amazon. You have to be very careful with it. I have had it damage certain sections of Dendrobium and some other genera. Repeated applications of neem oil is pretty effective.
Is the same medium to the maxillaria tenuifolia?
Yes, it's the same media. You can "fine tune" it by the amount of sphagnum that you use. If you feel you need it to dry more quickly just use half the moss.
Wenn Englisch gesprochen wird, nützen englische Untertitel nichts. Daher keinen Daumen. Maxillaria hätte mich gerade interessiert.
