  • Wonder bread is again available to the consumers of bland bread (in my humble opinion.) Flowers Foods bought the brand from Hostess Brands, after Hostess filed for a phony baloney bankruptcy. The type of bankruptcy that could have been avoided, and the type of bankruptcy that has the court system screwing the workers, while throwing MILLIONS & MILLIONS of dollars to the same executives who screwed up the company by never updating the products. Those were the same executives who asked and received MASSIVE cuts from the workers in previous years, and then started a public relation campaign of implying the union workers were greedy for not being willing to cut some more in order to save the company. CORPORATE GREED AT IT'S FINEST.

The series "The food that made America" lead me here.
I believe wonder bread and twinkies were one of the first to do food ads aimed at kids on television.

Originally seen in 1956, at the time Howdy was (again) running for "President of the Kids of the United States"....

Barry I. Grauman There were at least 2 or 3 scandals in Howdy's administration. The media was constantly complaining that he was just a 'Puppet Ruler'. They wondered who was really pulling the strings! Also something involving Clarabell, a water bottle and the shah of Iran, in what was known as "Seltzer-watergate"!

Thank you for explaining the politics behind this commercial. Apparently Clarabelle simply was venting frustration at The System.
