I like to use this in a three to one ratio with a bit of generic garam masala, and a pinch of extra turmeric. Generally I find this recipe to be the best basic curry flavor. Love this video.
Yeah mate, I'm an Aussie (with European heritage)😆,BUT I LOVE having ago, especially at cooking. Love spices😎, knew some Indian Malay friends, which I tasted their cuisine from their hospitality and that's when I learnt, it's not about chilli, yes curries are not about chili, they're about different spices😋spices yumm, just had to be patient and learn about all different spices and,Wow,.. how beautiful they are. And love sharing them with others and have had many wonderful and encouraging comments from family and guests commenting how much they loved my curries. I just loved Learning and sharing, that's what its all about, loving one another and sharing. 😊bless you all
Thanks Chef. Great recipe. I made 3 different powders from your recipe, mild, medium and the “bells ringing in your head” version. All excellent. Cheers
I see that your mother gave you the dinchik dinchik and put you in some kind of work, because of that we have got a talented chef teacher like you. Your mother is a good example for teachers and mothers who have playful children like you. Thanks dear Vah chef Mom, you are great!
I love making Indian food here in Scotland. The commercial curry powders I've tried aren't as good as I'd like. I'll follow your recipe and make my own.
This has given me an idea. I'll make and take this curry powder on my Europe holiday. So I don't have to eat bland food. Being an Indian I can't live without my spices. Thanks Vahchef!
Been looking for a recipe for curry powder for a while to make for a friend who's allergic to chilli. Of course there were one from Vahchef, why didn't I think of looking here first?
Sound like my uncle, he and his brother were in school in India and he was always in trouble for not paying attention but when asked a question would come back with the correct answer even though he was messing about in his classroom. You have inspired me to make my own curry powder, until now I have mixed powdered ingredients like my dad did only difference is we added Fenugreek too.
from the first time i tried this type of food i was hung.i LOVE LOVE LOVE CURRY.tipus tiger in missoula montana was my first.this channel looks awsome!!
Talk about nutritional blend...after watching this curry definitely is unique and special. I haven't seen any sauce can equal that in term of nutrional appeal.
I have just made this today, and wow it is an amazing blend, I dabbed a finger tip and what a flavour explosion, making beef madras tonight, thank you for sharing this.
Well done chef i love to watch your videos and tried too. really good and tasty food and love to watch when you feel and tell. You know what you are doing. God bless you and family. Regards from Sweden.
hi, vah chef thanks for sharing. your recipes are really awesome . especially the rava dosa. I make them very often. once again thank you and God bless you
I like this video a lot. It seems curry powder is kind of a tame garam masala with not many warming spices like clove or cardamom. Also, it seems like nutmeg pops up in some curry powders from time to time. As an American, I do like curry powder a lot, even though I usually cook with a masala called "kitchen king".
Thank you Chef! I was wondering how much onion and garlic powder to add. Also I'm thinking of adding fenugreek and ajwain.... but I'm not sure how much to add in this recipe of yours. Any suggestions? I will also research before I add them and also try it in a small potato curry. Thanks again my Guyanese Husband will be full and happy! Hugs from Ontario, Canada
Sanjay, I thank you a lot for sharing your childhood experiences, I've met many humorous and trouble making children like you when I am teaching. They are the most healthy kids in the class. Many kids of this type behave like that because they can get the attraction of friends and teachers, and they are talented in some other field of subject than that is being taught at that time. Some teachers don't understand that and give wrong punishments to children like that.
Sir plz mention the cup size is this 200gm or 250gm If we use ginger garlic paste and onion at curry should we avoid onion and garlic powder in that masala?
I am from Sri Lanka... More than 2 years following your recipes. Thank you chef... Yes! You're a good teacher... And please tell me. In this spicy mix. You added garlic deep fry or dry roasted. Once again thank you
Thank you so much, for sharing us this important information, I was wondering how I have make it but now I have what I need, I'm from Yemen 🇾🇪🇾🇪 we love India too much and still make them food, sorry for my bad English 💔
I love your food and the way you teach us, thank you very much. Where do you live? so I can take Indian cooking classes I bet your wonderful. Thanks again.
kumari sooriyaarachchi It depends on your choice and taste. For better understanding check some of the recipes in which these are used or google search on curry powder and garam masala to know what they are and how they can be used. Thanks. Happy cooking
Thank you for the recipe! I was wondering the instruction said to have 5 cloves, but I notice the video has 10 cloves. Also instruction calls for 6 cardamon, but the video has 7. Lastly instruction calls for 5 springs of curry leaf, but I only notice 2 springs on the video. I am planning to make this power and wonder should I go with what I see in the video or go with the written instruction. Also would power be better or would curry paste be better for chicken curry soup. Thank you!
Hi thanks for sharing, I am from the Caribbean and we have something called Madras Curry is this the same as Garam Masala. We absolutely love our curries in the Caribbean, we use the yellow curry much more than the red curry
Garam masala is a strong spice mixture which is used very little at the end of the cooking to enhance the flavour what you are talking about is more like curry powder
I've tried some of the recipes from your RUclips channel and my all time favourite recipe is Hyderabadi Chicken Biryani . This homemade curry powder is also a must try! Thanks Chef.
I like your recipes very much and tried them as well. the only hurdle in making them right to the taste that you do not tell the quantity if ingredients which you use. please write down the amount of ingrdnt which u used in curry powder and garam masala powder. thank u
+Marrium Fawwad Thanks. Recipes available below the videos. As per spices and ingredients, always add them as per your requirement and taste. One like more spices, one likes mild spices. So you are the better person in knowing your and your family taste.
Thank you for such an easy to understand lesson. I'm definitely going to make your curry powder. It seems to make sense to make it in batches instead of making curry four single serve meals. Keep up the great videos! Maureen from down under.
