I cook gammon joints in the air fryer and I never cover with foil. I cut of the rope d before cooking and never leave the netting on. It always turns out so tender and juicy and really 19:42 tasty

I'll have to have a go doing it that way. Thank you 😊

I have cooked joints of beef and gammon plus a whole chicken in my air fryer. All turned out really juicy and properly cooked. I did test with a meat thermometer to enszure they were cooked through. I wouldn't do my meat any other way now.

Your gammon sounds lovely! I haven't done much meat in my air fryer, I keep saying I'm going to. I think I'd start with chicken.
      Thank you for watching.

I’ve cooked a whole chicken a few times, comes out crispy skin and tender meat. Beef burgers, sausages, chops. All nicely cooked.

We're not big meat eaters, so I've not tried a lot of meat in mine. I'm going to have to give it a go!

Hello Maria another good video, you need to get yourself a food temperature probe, they are a really useful gadget to have and yourl know if meat is cooked, it's much safer especially pork. Also love o ne of those gripper things to lift out hot dishes or anything else safely from the airfryer. would be really helpful for you and safer. I see some of your followers on here sharing how to make a foil sling that's good idea too. How about setting up an Amazon wish list then we can gift them to you. Love watching your vids Maria, I catching up watching the all.lol😃👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

I do have a digital temperature probe, I'm naughty because I never use it when I should. I'll have to try and get into the habit of using it. I don't have a gripper, one of them would be useful. Someone had mentioned about silicone gloves for lifting, I'd never heard of them! I have been thinking of setting up an amazon wishlist, but I'm not sure how to do it, and I'm worried it'll seem a little bit cheeky when times are so hard for people. I will look into it. Thank you for your suggestions and for watching, it's very much appreciated 😊

It's good to do comparisons, I've cooked a chicken in the air fryer and it turned out well. I did some gammon in the slow cooker and that was nice. I have a gammon joint in the freezer I was going to cook in the air fryer but I'm not sure whether to do it now. I don't like chewy meat. I don't like fat, I cut it all off if I'm having some. What I did do when I did the gammon in the slow cooker was I cut the skin off and put it in the air fryer so it made crackling, that was lovely. Well at least you have it a go. One thing I don't like in the air fryer is eggs as they get a skin on and fried bread as it's too dry

I'm glad I tried it. I'll keep on trying different things to see what works best where. I'm keeping notes in my cookbooks too so I don't forget the results.

Like you I haven’t cooked a joint of meat in the airfryer.
All this cooking quickly, isn’t always the best way for meat, which benefits from longer cooking. Something can be cooked in the airfryer a lot quicker but often lacks flavour and as you said not so tender.
I tried roasting potatoes in the airfryer, these also wasn’t as good as roast potatoes need to have space between each one so that the heat can get to all sides. Thank you for another great video.

I've not tried roast potatoes yet. I've done tinned Potatoes with bacon & chopped spring onions. I'll have to try roast potatoes.

I have cooked it a couple of times in the oven , but I prefer to simmer it in water on the cooker top. A bit that size would probably take an hour and a half, it always tastes delicious, and lovely cold for sandwiches.

Oh that all sounds lovely, I could visualise and almost taste it as I was reading! You certainly have perfected the art of cooking in the air fryer, I hope I'm able to eventually. It'll probably be desserts with me! 😊
Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment, I really appreciate it.

Get a meat probe thermometer to confirm temperature deep in the joint ,you may find less cooking time ,air fryer will give even crispy skin without foil.Air fryer more suited to quicker cheaper cooking of thinner food slices and portions.

To be honest I do have a meat thermometer, but I never use it. I should do really. Not using foil might have been a better idea. I definitely prefer the oven for cooking joints of meat.
      Thank you for watching 😊

Yes i agree, meat should be long cooked for a tender and tastier result. The texture and taste between the two joints was very noticeable.

Air should revolve round whatever your cooking so should not be covered.

You cant cook meat in a microwave anyway unless its a microwave that does brown meat as you can buy ones that brown stuff but most of them only warm things up.

    • @therichardsonssimpleliving
      @therichardsonssimpleliving  Год назад

Yes the combi microwaves. I never liked the idea of cooking meat in them. I have a normal low wattage one now, like you say just for warming things up.

Slow cooker for me. Air flyer failure for me with gammon/ham. Can cider or apple juice and 3 hrs on low abs gorgeous. I eat all the soft fat but not skin. My dad did and died at 95 so don’t subscribe to fat = harm

I've yet to try a joint in the slow cooker, but I'm sure it will be lovely. I like meat to fall off the bone. I don't go along with modern fad dieting, give me proper dinners, good old fashioned eating anytime. I have an aunt who owned a butchers shop, ate meat everyday along with green veg, raw milk and butter, she's 96 next month. It goes to show doesn't it. Thank you for watching 😊
