I have a 2004, AWD, the front driver wheel has made a funny noise since I bought it new. I have around 170K on it now, still makes the same noise, hasn't gotten any worse or better. I had an old 1995 Ford T-Bird and didn't have to replace any wheel bearings until I got around 250K miles, (it had 340K on it when I gave it away to my sister because she needed a car). I was under the impression Infiniti was a premium built car that should last longer, how many miles does the manufacturer recommend changing them out?
Looks like the driver side is known to give out before hand. I’m having the same rumble and it’s annoying me. Thanks for the diy video. I’ve done suspension work but never the hub.
Great videos. I have 05 FX35 with 130,000 miles. Things are starting to wear on vehicle. Glad you post these videos so i know what to do and how easy/hard changing something will be.
2007 Infiniti FX35 AWD My brakes are weak/spongy This happened after I changed the FRONT wheel bearings. The brake lines show no signs of leakage. The system has completely flushed (bled) through all the brake lines until the new brake fluid was coming out the bleeders. (No old brake fluid in the system whatsoever) We bled the system for abt 6 hours thinking it was the issue. Brake fluid is cleaner than new Nikes. The Master Cylinder has been replaced New rotors have been put on all around New brake pads have been put on all around. No Brake light No Abs light No Check Engine Light Any ideas?
The brake pads get pushed by a cylinder. It has a boot around it. If that boot has failed that could be it. But you would probably see fluid. But it could be clogged too.
Thanks for the video. Looks like the front is a lot easier to do than the rear. I ended up taking it to a mechanic friend and he said it took him over an hour just to get it to separate and come out!
I have this loud noise coming from my front right tire. Same car and all. It gets louder the faster I driver. The mechanics told me its a bad wheel hub bearing. I feel like I can do this myself. I do most stuff on my car anyways. Im worried I wont put everything on right. Do I need any special tools to put the brake pads back on. Or is that only when I change my brakes.
After I replaced my wheel bearing I’m getting a different sound now its driving smoother just a whooshing sound now !do you have any idea what is causing that?
Oh man. Without actually hearing it no. My driver side mirror always made a whistle sound. Maybe your hearing that now because it's sounding right. Lol
I think that dust shield might have been bent a little because my wheel bearing was almost like welded together it was rusted so bad and I hoping that not scrubbing the back side of the rotors
Thank you for this video! It helped me to replace the one on my passenger side. I have the exact vehicle, same color and all. Mine is a 2004. I appreciate your work and time 👍🏾
Yes. I didn't think the wheel bearings were bad. Usually they squeak or squeal a little. This was like you were driving on a small rumble strip the whole time. Rides super smooth now.
Does anyone know where I can find the torque specs for all of the bolts? Or are the important ones just the 4 for the hub and the one axel nut for 177 ft•lbs? I put my callipers on without a torque wrench, should I have used one?
I've got a question for you. I just replaced both of my front hubs but I'm a bit confused about the spindle nut torque. What I found was 203 ft lbs can I ask where you got 177 lbs from? I think 177 is for rear axles. Just trying to do it right. Thanks.
I have a 05 g35x and I have been looking at the hubs very closely and I only see a difference on the entrance where it goes into the spindle but the mounting holes and axle hole look exactly the same I think it would work but I am not 100% If someone knows please comment I really need to get this done soon.
Kinda hard to tell. If you jack the front up, take the tires off, then spin the hub by hand (AWD in Neutral) the bad one did not spin freely. Kinda gritty and made a scratching noise. Should change both if possible. If you change one. The other will go out soon.
I have a vibration when i turn the wheel to the left on my fx 35 ,it seems to getting louder .you can fill it at low speed as well but only when turning to the left
I think mine need to be replaced. Have an 05 Fx35. Squeaks when I cut the wheel to the left. Vibrates the steering wheel when I stop and at 60 mph. Brakes are fine and tires are balanced.
Did you replace rear bearings as well? I have had a bad tire do it also. Rotate tires to see if rumble moves to front or back. I also have a video of the drive shaft replacement. That's what I thought it was first.
Having a problem where a grinding and vibration is felt through the wheels (only when turning at speed), already did both wheel bearings, new brakes and calipers, what could it be?
Just during a turn? Did you do rotors too? I see a bunch of people changing them out because they can worp easily. But it seems like you would feel that the whole time.
I was thinking about it and the first thing I would check would be the CV Axle. There is a ball joint in the pivot point. They can dry out if the boot fails.
I had this problem too, turned out to be a missing upper strut assembly bolt. It came undone and lost causing the tire to have slop in it, and when turning in either direction the missing bolt allowed the tire to rub on the inner top side of the strut housing...so look for missing bolts.
I agree. But a spindle and a CV Axle are different. Bearings spin on a spindle. CV Axle is a spline so it moves with the Bearing. Locked in with teeth. Not saying it wouldn't hurt. But not really needed.
@@packwoodperformance4x474 Just follow up, I replaced my fronts today following your guide step by step! I tried to do the rears but it was a bit more difficult. The four bolts in the back seem impossible to get out. Thanks again! Videos like these truly help DIYers (and saving $$$$)
Great job dude! I would recommend using anti-seize around the bearing and inside the knuckle were it sits. That way if you ever have to replace the the bearing again it will come off real quick. Also on the spindle on the axle sometimes it gets really stuck to the bearing.

That's kinda what I said in the video. It seemed like too much but as tight as they were on removal. I figured maybe that was right. Obviously I was wrong.

Is the rear hub replacement the same and if not can u do a video on it and a door handle replacement please
Yes same process but they are a different part #

No it's pretty easy. I cant remember what tool to get brake caliper off. Torx bit? But not a special tool.
I was wrong it's just regular bolts. 14mm maybe.

I could see that. I think I had to bend mine back straight a little.
The axel nut isn't going reverse rotation is it? Thinking mine is just rusted beyond belief
I don't believe so. This car had rust everywhere.
Very helpful, thank you.

How detroit hub bearing holding up

What made you notice something was up? I hear a warp sound on my ex35 & I'm trying to make sure what it is before I spend money on repairs
Did that fix the vibration problem? I have a 2010 with the same problem you were having in the drive shaft video

Thanks champ, that describes my exact problem. Great content and camera work. Not enough videos for these fx, thanks for sharing.

I searched a bunch of places. More said 177 than anything. But for some reason I think the 203 was for the rear. Or 2wd vehicles and for the rear.
I just found a PDF on Google that says 2003-2008 infinity fx35 AWD front spindle/axle nut 203 ft lbs. I'll look into it more tomorrow.
@@packwoodperformance4x474 Ok this is what I found. 03-08 front is 203. Rear is 275 ft lbs.
275 seems like alot
@@packwoodperformance4x474 Maybe but that's the specs. I will confirm this today when I go to the parts store.

Where did you buy that bearing ?

Ebay
Detroit Axel
do u happen to know the torque specs for inner and outer tie rods?
You can find the service manual pdf free online.
What percent tint u have bro? Looks sick
35% on windshield
35% on Front Doors
35% over factory on the back which makes it like 20%
Looks dark on the outside. Barely looks tinted on the inside during the day. 👌
Thanks for the video. Have the Detroit bearings held up for ya?
