I was contacted by Fiido by email and told not to ride my bike due to a safety issue. They asked for a photo of my frame number which i sent. The next day another email telling me i was getting a replacement frame and to not ride my bike. 4 days later the new frame showed up and after assembling it i transferred my battery to the new frame. Upgraded brakes and a newer controller were included as were some other improvements. I am happy with my experience with this company.
I am fairly confident that Fido will make good on this, based on the expediency I witnessed with them in the past. Meantime, I am taking my bike to a welder to re-enforce it accordingly.
Thank you for the heads up. I have already been in a warranty battle with fiido for the past 2 months where my frame got bent due to another manufacturing “issue”. The jury is still out on me getting a new bike. But we will see. They said “ I will check whether we can replace a new T1 bike for you. ”
Yes this was on the T1. Basically, on the front fork during the manufacturing fiido installed two steerer collars as my mechanic called them. I’ll summarize what my mechanic explained to me… Basically the system with the fork works because all the parts (bike frame, fork, and others i don’t know) are compressed together to make a tight connection that essentially makes all the many parts of the above work as one piece. The major problem was the extra steering collar caused looseness resulting in lots of play over time. This eventually led to the front frame (bike frame) downtube warping/elongating, rendering the bike to a point that is extremely difficult to drive straight and is now unsafe to drive.
Agreed. Luckily my bike is also on the recall list so refusing shipping a new bike would be pretty difficult. They tend to like to drag their feet. Good luck with your replacement.
Fiido’s response to this is shockingly excellent. Full recall. Replacement of T1’s that have been upgraded to be reinforced, hydraulic brakes (massive safety enhanced), better controller, 5 year warranty and a $10k guarantee on broken frames. Really amazing. My only unanswered question is what happens with our old T1’s? Another question I have is that I’ve only had my T1 for 15 days. Why bother me selling me this bike only to do a full recall 15 days later with this incident? As they obviously new about this situation for a while.
It certainly seems that Fiido have done a goof job addressing issues that customers have raised, by introducing an upgrade version. I don't believe they want the old bikes back, so you'll have some spare parts. If you bought directly from Fiido, it does seem odd that they would send the old one out, if nothing else, they would have saved on shipping costs. Better to have asked you to wait for the new version. They've clearly known for some time that there were safety issues and that's my main gripe. Yes, they've made what seems to be a very good job of a replacement, but not informing customers is, for me, unforgivable. Hope you have a good time on your new bike.
I’m looking to get one of these bikes are they legal not that it will stop me from getting one just wondered 👍I’m 57 I live out in country I can’t see our local Bobby doing anything 😂
Compared to Rad bikes behaviour on their recent Radwagon 4 defective tire recall shambles, Fiido have been great. RW were just ignoring requests for refunds. You literally had to launch disputes through the card you used for payment. That is not to say I excuse the delay in announcing the fault by Fiido though.
Aluminium! Why oh why for the sake of a small extra bita wieght look at the safety of a steel frame ! Its the reason i went for the m21 pro towards any other ive compared them to friends and family who havew different fiidos and i gotta say the m21 welding is levels above alot of fiido models ive got it a year now had it tuned to as solid as can be within a mth had it in every condition mountain fields bad roads beeches and its as solid as always i do keep it in check tho and keep it looked after excellent bike from fiido ,but thats no excuse correct me if im wrong but were some of them snaps above the welds 🤔
It might be, but definitely worth checking. Batches of the faulty ones were still arriving last month. I bought mine from aqouebikes.com who were great. They'll happily help if you're interested and I've a discount code, Bazza50 that'll get you £50 off.
@@Faye36466 well, the original one was just a bit big for my wife, who's 5'7", but the new one is nearly 5" lower, so should be ideal. @@EnglishEbiker Thanks so much, I will be sure to ask if it is the newer version when I am enquiring. I would like to be able to use it off road in the countryside, do you think it would be suitable? Thanks again for all of your detailed information it's really very useful!
@@Faye36466 we use ours on gravelly old cycle paths that are a bit puddly and bumpy, not had a problem. They're not mountain bikes, but they're tough. Only real issue would be the tyres, they come with pretty slick road tyres, but fairly easy and cheap to replace.
Be careful don't bought these bike, this is not a suitable winter bike. There is a weak spot under the battery for water to enter easily. I have the same bike and it actually broke down. I hope the manufacturer will look into this issue. If they put a little silicone in the holes, the problem will be solved. It is a catastrophic weakness.
