    Actually, when Kylo started choking Hux in the throne room, the conversation they had was;
    Kylo - "The Supreme Leader is Dead!"
    Hux - "Long live the Supreme Leader!"
    It was a bit hard to make out since Kylo was shouting and Hux was choking, but it's a play on the old saying "The King is dead, long live the King!", which is usually said when one monarch dies and their heir rises to take their place.

      I don't think they are but I think it would make sense. You see Luke briefly talk to Leia in the movie. So I think people are assuming that that they are also siblings cause they can talk using the force. But also Snoke says that he was allowing them to talk. Maybe people missed that part or didn't understand it.

      Lily Fire I thought they were until Snoke said he was the one that made the breach between the two. I still think she's a Skywalker because these 3 Trilogies are supposed to be about the Skywalkers so unless this Trilogy is actually about Kylo Ren (lol) I think she's probably a Skywalker.

      bc this is the skywalker saga, if they said this was a new saga about new shit that would be fine, but this doesnt due to other 6 movies justice, and even pushing the shitty small rebellion reborn crap bs slightly more powerful first order crap will the sames stylistic design as the ot in both the sequel films is boring and not the star wars way, so cliche, there was a very cheesy lovvy dubby part with middle arc with rose/finn. this rebellion vs first order just makes the episode 4 and 6 worthless and everything is even more compacted and isolated and boring than the grand empire vs larger alliance etc. This is crap, and lazy world building and story building for the grand purpose. They make star wars 2 years instead of 3 and there is no communication between each movie they make up bs as they go, there needs to be an outline like george has for the first 2 trilogies.

      You know exactly why people expected Rey to be linked to a powerful linage. Disney could have nipped that theory or expectation in the bud in the first movie but they didn't. Because the theories and fan discussion is profitable.

How creative... totally not doing that just so you can rise another random nobody up for the next trilogy... which is fine. Anakin was a nobody. But like. This is 100% sacrificing current story for future planning. This universe will without a doubt be turned into fast and furious/ transformers. Mindless turn your brain off watch the action who cares about depth and lore. Star wars isnt an immersive world anymore just a setting.

  • @kaleiohulee6693
    @kaleiohulee6693 6 лет назад +104

    Seriously, people still want to debate Rey's parents? Kylo sees it in Rey's past, he confronts her denial and she reacts because she knows its true. It's an important narrative choice that makes her into someone rising to become a hero and not just some bloodline/destiny/chosen one; the way Luke was originally. They reinforce it with the child at the end that the force is not just a Jedi or Skywalker thing anymore. The movie thematically is very much about breaking away from the past.

      The movie is about shitting on what Star wars is. It's not about Battles nor Republic and rebels. It's about a family, it's about jedis, siths, the force, it's a "soap opera about a family" Georges Lucas.
      If you only look on the surface it's an average movie with battles, humour,...
      but if you are a star wars fan and you know the stories and the spirit of star wars you can't like this bullshit. None of the old characters were true to themselves.

    • @kibert135
      @kibert135 6 лет назад +14

      +yannick930 So you wanted stale boring characters who can't change over the years? I just don't get why people try to act like characters like Luke or Aang (Last Airbender) need to be perfect and can't develop faults in them. Luke was scared of the dark side and saw the Jedi as surperior, Aang tried so hard to grant the airbenders a future that he put too much pressure on his own son. It happens.
      And you should stop watching Blind Wave immediatly. They are the biggest Star Wars fans I know and guess what: They loved this movie.

    • @foxfire9320
      @foxfire9320 6 лет назад +17

      She matters because of who she is, in addition to the fact that she has the force. 'What is she like?' Where have you been? We know a lot about what she's like just from 4 hours and 45 minutes of run time. She's a survivor, kind, idolises the reistance and the jedi, held out alone in a desert for years waiting for a family that threw her away (while learning to pilot and fix ships so she could eat), forms deep loyalties quickly to good people, persistent (just ask Luke), calls people out when she thinks they're full of it (ask Luke again), risks her life to reach Ben Solo even though she's angry at him for killing Han, and not least of all, she picks up a lightsaber and swings even when she knows she's facing off against enemies much stronger than her - she did that in both movies. We may not know anything about her parents, but we know a HECK of a lot about who she is.

    • @iliboxic7586
      @iliboxic7586 6 лет назад +1

      Yeah. Like Luka and Leia had "romantic tension" in TESB. Probably they had romantic tension again too, when they showed the force bond of Rey and Ben - and right after that the force bond of the Skywalker twins. Anakin's lightsaber did only split because Ani would have thought that Rey is hot and that Star Wars should become like Twilight. Sure.

    • @iliboxic7586
      @iliboxic7586 6 лет назад

      Please don't mix up stuff with Game of Thrones. He asked her to rule the galaxy with him. But for some "shippers" it probably was as well romantic when Vader asked his son the same thing.

    • @foxfire9320
      @foxfire9320 6 лет назад

      Making their connection romantic hardly going to turn it into Twilight, if only for the fact that Rey and Bella are nothing alike. (OK, I've only read half of one Twilight book, but I think that's enough to justify my statement.) Still, I think it would be extremely hard to do a romance - with only one movie left - that would do both characters justice and isn't just gross in some way. I was not a fan of the 'force connection' thing at all, but that's what we got. And if they end up together and Rey is still the character we know instead of Padme 2.0, and there's no suicide pact or romantic sacrifice nonsense, then maybe ... it won't ... be ... completely ... terrible ...
      Having said all that though, why would Rian and co spoil a romantic connection? Probably just misdirection on their part.

      Rey not being a skywalker doesn't 'ruin' the character or the trilogy you twit, even if they don't go for a romance between Kylo and Rey. They said even after the first movie that Rey's parents WEREN'T IN THE MOVIE...ruling out Han, Leia, and Luke, so I have no idea why people STILL think she's magically a Skywalker even with this movie outright telling them Rey's parents were NOBODIES. As to Kylo and Rey...there's a romantic pairing in every trilogy, Finn's actor already confirmed that him and Rey are just friends, and when asked if the first movie had a romance the director responded that there is, but it's very subtle. Whether you whiny babies like it or not, and whether she redeems him and they have a happy ending or not, some sort of romantic relationship between them is clearly being established. Which since you seem so fixated on the Skywalker name...should make you happy...because unless Kylo has a kid that's the end of the Skywalker bloodline.

    I really can't bring myself to think of Rose stopping Finn from sacrificing himself as anything other than stupid and selfish. The whole "We have to save what we love, not fight what we hate" idea is cutesy and all, but it's just not founded on anything whatsoever. I guess the Rebels should've just given Alderaan a big hug and pushed it out of the way, instead of blowing up the Death Star? I guess Admiral Holdo did the wrong thing when she sacrificed herself to disable Snoke's Star Destroyer and save the Resistance?
    Because here's the thing, by "saving the thing she loves", Rose also prevented Finn from trying to save the Resistance, thus dooming like 100 people to death because she didn't want to lose Finn. That's nothing other than selfishness on her part. You can't have Holdo be the hero for sacrificing herself in one scene, and then try to make Rose the hero 30 minutes later for stopping Finn from doing the same thing.

      I was ready for Finn to die in that moment. It was selfless, it was for the cause. And it was a damn risky move as far as the filmmaking goes. Finn should have been allowed to sacrifice himself. And I don’t buy the romance between him and Rose at all.

    I think Snoke, while decently powerful, was using Kylo as a sort of conduit and using his power by manipulating him emotionally. That's why the connection still happens at the end of the movie, because it's Kylo's potential that creates the necessary conditions in the first place.

    • @MysteriousMrL
      @MysteriousMrL 6 лет назад +10

      I actually like this theory. My guess was always that Snoke was a red herring to be dispatched by Kylo Ren so he could ascend to main villain and I was pleasantly surprised to be right about that. But the part I got wrong was that I thought Snoke really was just all smoke and mirrors and not actually strong in the Force. If they were going to go that route with him using Kylo's power I think they would have revealed it in this movie, but it's an interesting idea anyway.

    I think the overall complaint is Luke’s character. I don’t really understand what people mean by that? How did they ‘butcher’ Luke’s character? I felt like Luke was such a badass in this movie. I thought he portrayed a disappointed and heartbroken Jedi master well.

    • @TELeeable
      @TELeeable 6 лет назад +8

      Well first of all, he was supposedly at one point one of the strongest Jedi to have ever lived. Plus, it's been a few decades since where we left off at the Return of the Jedi, so there was a lot of time for training and he has Yoda, Obi-Wan and who knows who else to guide him. Another major thing is that Luke's entire character is put into question when he tries to kill Ben (his nephew might I add) because he thinks he's beyond control and turning to the dark side. This is coming from the guy who risked everything to save his father Darth Vader...pretty much the most evil Sith Lord known in the universe because he saw an inkling of hope? IDK...seems really out of character to me. So I guess one would naturally think, "okay, we have a super powerful Jedi Master who we haven't seen in decades". At the VEERY least he could've at least had a decent light saber duel to show off some of his new powers that he gained over the many years of training. I mean the force projection must've taken a lot of energy and is an awesome tool. I get that. But to then kill him off when he didn't even get to show what he could do? I think most fans are disappointed because of so many missed opportunities/let downs in this movie and the direction the franchise is going as a whole.

    • @seibaraion1404

      Luke overpowered Vader, he had enough power to kill his father but didn't, in TLJ Luke saw IN THE FUTURE Ben would be more powerful than him, that why in just one moment he fear that he wouldn't be able to turn Ben, but Luke did NOT kill Ben and he realized his mistake "in shame". There is nothing out of character and Yoda did say the student will always be better but they need the teacher to be a foundation to grow. Took me 2 re-watch to understand it but I do believe it is very great writing.

They wanted to see Luke being like Vader at the end of Rogue One... They wanted him tearing up shit cos he's now the most powerful dude on the planet... But don't understand how broken he would of been as a person..... Yeah I had issues with some of the film.... But I don't get all these twats calling it the worst ever an shit... I think most of the shit he's seen and been thru would probably turn him into someone who didn't give a shit anymore etc... I'm not saying these new films aren't without faults... And we deffo deserved to see a kick ass Luke at some point. Which we never got... (Who knows maybe they'll do a Luke anthology at sum point).... But it's deffo not as shit as some people are making it out to be.. Some people will just never be happy with what anyone does with Star Wars as its held in such high regard

    I believe that Rey's parents are no one important. I think that was even shown in her "cave" scene. When she wiped away the fog and saw only herself, I felt like that was showing that she was the important one. She raised herself and she was strong all on her own merits. Her parents didn't matter. I don't think Ben was lying honestly. I feel like Rey knew he wasn't lying just as he said. She has known for some time. I honestly hope that's where that story ends. Rey's parents don't need to be important at all and I will be so happy if everything said about her parents ends up being true. Not because horrible things were done to Rey if it is true, but because it means Rey doesn't need a special lineage. Because we all know that's not how the Force works. It can be strong or weak in anyone, regardless of their heritage.

      you bring up a vital point as to why this new trilogy CANNOT be fundamentally Star Wars or at least the one with which the original idea/story was fostered from. The original is literally a story about family and the conflict/drama that those relationships bring to the table. Thus, that theme should be engrained in the movie if you want to continue the story with the original SW trilogy characters. This MONSTROSITY that is Disney plasters the name Star Wars onto is just a new movie trying to kill off any hope of actually continuing any sort of story from the originals and prequels. If you're going to make it so that anybody can be force user, just make a new story/new trilogy without bringing the old characters in (or maybe just mention them). At least that way, there truly is a fresh new take on things without the burden of trying to fit the old characters in the story.

I really envy you people that manage to enjoy this movie despite its flaws, but I just can't, it's stronger than me, and I'm not saying that previous star wars were perfect, but this one I think (in my personal humble opinion) has just too many flaws to be considered one of the best star wars.

      I ship it pretty hard. And not because of a romance - though hey, I wouldn't complain to much if it became that - but because I've truly missed the indepth, almost intimate, relationship-study of a protagonist and their antagonist in a narrative. Batman has the Joker; Holmes has his Moriarty; the Doctor vs the Master; Aang and Zuko. Focusing on the connections between two great characters, and having their interactions both develop them AND consequently escalate their actions in opposing directions, was a fascinating thing to watch and think about. In my mind, it would be too easy and cliche to just have them 'fall in love and magically fix everything with a hug' - and they don't. They're just two, very lonely and broken people looking for answers and acceptance, and, though theyre on opposite sides/hate each other, reaching an intimate understanding of the other. This understanding would influence the decisions (and consequences) of future events. So meh, I walked out of this movie 100% onboard with it, and incredibly invested with where it goes from here. :)

      Most romantic scene was when Kylo ordered his men to shoot the Falcon and Rey. There was more romantic tension between Rey and Snoke. But people who disrespect Star Wars that much and want the last Jedi to be in love with the dictator who did put a lightsaber through Han Solo, would have shipped Luke and Leia as well after TESB. But fortunately there wasn't anybody who didn't understand that Star Wars isn't about shipping when Twilight and Game of Thrones didn't exist.

    • @iliboxic7586
      @iliboxic7586 6 лет назад

      These "shippers" don't care about Star Wars and don't understand it. (That's why they are as well not able to get that both characters are obviously Anakin's grandchildren.) Everybody who wants the murderer of the best friend of the OT hero to be with the ST hero should watch Twilight and stop to annoy real Star Wars fans. Rey is the opposite of shippers who think she should have romantic feelings for someone who did torture her and ordered his men to shoot her.

    • @iliboxic7586
      @iliboxic7586 6 лет назад

      Rey looked exactly like someone who doesn't belong to these shippers would look at her/his cousin or sibling when she/he thinks it's embarassing that he doesn't wear a shirt. On the other hand Luke once looked really weird at Leia because George Lucas wasn't sure if he wanted them to be siblings before he made the third movie. But episode 7 and 8 are full of hints about Rey being a Skywalker.

    To all the people saying that this movie was a disappointment, that's the interesting part because thematically speaking, The Last Jedi is actually a film about disappointment and I am increasingly convinced that they went that route to fullfill a very specific purpose:
    Storywise, Rey is disappointed in Luke, who is disappointed in himself and Kylo, who is disappointed with Luke and Han and Leia and later Rey and definitely Snoke, who is disappointed in Kylo, while Leia is dissappointed in Poe and Poe is disappointed in Haldo and Haldo is disappointed in Poe in turn, and Rose is disappointed in Finn and Finn is disappointed with the status of war and later war profiteering between both sides of the conflict, and so on.
    The film itself even deliberately disappoints its audience by not delivering on “the goods”:
    I wanted Luke to mess people up with his green lightsaber, and I was dissappointed.
    I wanted Luke to carry on into the next flim, and I was disappointed.
    A whole bunch of us wanted Rey’s backstory to be elaborate and relating back to the lore of the franchise in some way, and we all were disappointed.
    A whole bunch of us wanted to know where Snoke came from and if he was actually someone else from lore, and we were all disappointed.
    And so on. You see my point.
    The Last Jedi is not the exact fan experience you’re looking for. It’s not about scratching that specific itch. It’s about taking the franchise into new, uncharted territory (at least on big screen, there were probably a few obscure old EU books that ventured around here before). BUT at the same time it still ends up being entertaining by still being a good Star Wars movie, with tons of laughs and cries and family drama and space battles and force visions and lightsaber action and good acting and good music. It still gives the viewers their money’s worth on that account and then some.
    Is it perfect? Absolutely not. But then again no film is. It has sagging pace for the first half, jokes that don’t land, a few genuine missed opportunities (Phasma again; Snoke backstory; apparently Leia and Ben’s relationship isn’t going to get closure, though that’s not the filmmakers’ fault), and its probably a little long for general audiences. But while it is important that I address them, I’m not going to dwell on those things because I know I don’t have to. I love it because, Star Wars feels more new to me than ever before and that's exciting!

      Interesting take and i'm going to try look at it this way on my 2nd viewing...subjective meaning on that level would be very unique. However if that is the aim i can't help but think some people including myself didn't enjoy aspects because of this, difference between disapointment within characters like them not being able to actually achieve something and disapointment from what you are seeing on screen happening how you were expecting...but maybe as fans we need to expect something different now. Hype also has something to do with it.

    Force Bonds don't only occur between kin. It typically occurs between two strong Force inclined persons, usually a master and apprentice. It's a special connection forged out of a mutual, deep understanding. Count Dooku and Yoda shared a Force Bond. So Kylo and Rey share one, but it doesn't mean they're related. Rey has been confirmed a No One, and I don't think it's a bad thing at all. SHE'S and important character, like Erick pointed out, like Obi-Wan and all those other people without origin who stand on their own. Rey raised herself on Jakku because her parents were terrible people, that's why she saw herself in the reflection. She's her OWN parent/guardian.
    I LOVED this movie!!! I can watch it 100000 times.

      THANK YOU. I have BIG complaints about this fandom and just how---purposefully IGNORANT people can be?
      The movie can literally be like /Kylo Ren turning his head to the audience, looking right at the camera/ "Rey is not a Skywalker. Rey you are NOT a Skywalker" /Rey nodding head in agreement/ "You are right. I remember I am not one for sure 100%" and the fans will still be like "??Wow, what do they mean by that?? Could she possibly not be Luke's daughter but maybe his granddaughter??? Wow, that's my new theory and if it doesn't happen in Epidose 9 I'm going to throw the biggest bitch fit."
      Not only do fans NOT pay attention to the source materials they've already been given, but they distrust every interview, every comment made by official staff, and THEN proceed to distrust the MOVIE ITSELF. I have never been in such a dense fandom before.

    10:58 - I actually don't mind if Rey's parents were nobodies. For me, that was a course correction for Star Wars. In the very first film (A New Hope), we see a young farm boy, rogue smuggler, furry alien and two obscure droids save the Rebel Alliance. It was great to think that Luke didn't have to be born into Jedi powers. Of course, that changed with Empire...and even more so with the prequels. I like the fact that someone obscure who is good at heart and truly believes in a cause can be powerful in the Force.

    This is gonna be a long comment, but I just have to say that I love that you guys like this movie.
    This channel has people who are the biggest star wars nerds (not saying that in a bad way) in the galaxy and the fact that they loved it really tells me that this movie is genuinely good.
    I mean these guys know so much about the lore of star wars and they remember so much, like when they watched the twin suns episode of star wars rebels and Obi-Wan switches stances in his duel with darth maul, one of you instantly said "that's qui-gon's stance"
    I love this movie, I hate that it's getting so much negative feedback and so much hate but hey, art's subjective.
    I love how this movie deconstructs the idea of the myth of luke skywalker and how he has to have his own little hero's journey again and doing it creates the myth of luke skywalker again when he faces the entire first order by himself.
    I love how this movie explores the lore of star wars and takes it in new and different directions while still giving it that star wars feeling (Luke and Yoda).
    and I'm so happy that Luke didn't die by being struck down by anyone.
    Luke Skywalker became one with the force with peace and purpose having faced his demons, and not before showing off one last amazing trick he had up his sleeve, showing us that he's still as powerful as ever.
    This movie is just so good, and I love that you love it.
    Cheers.

HE WAS TOO OLD...of course he could use some force to for example destroy few At-At....but im not complain so much. All these haters saying Rey is none is bullshit.....WTF? Only skywalkers now can use force for good?? Nobody else? They forgetton that after prequels "force" is kind a homeless now? IN some time Force should be expended in universe and new characters should use it. They complain about how rey quick lern use force...WTF people?? Luke skywalker didnt lern anything much from Obi(cause he was old and die in 10 mins after reveal) or even from Yoda...where the hell Luke lern saberfight?? From who?? The greatest "force" users lern much much faster than other...that why they are so special! Only in terrible prequels was bullshit about to become Jedi you must lern about Force long years...So that Kid at the end is another generation of strong "force" users. And remember first lesson of Rey? Force is for everyone....but only "user" can reach it and tap into force...its natural power of life and death...If someone can reach that force, that person can use it, like this kid, without any shitty study of years

      KallenSC haters?? Maybe we didn’t like Leias Superman move..... or the unnecessary humor like the frog nuns or Luke Skywalker drinking blue milk from a tit...maybe we wanted an explanation to how Rey and Kylo are so powerful with very little to no training.....maybe we want some kind of explanation to where Snoke came from and how he is so powerful because he clearly was.....You just want me to believe Rey is just that powerful because Kylo needed an equal? Fuck off with that bullshit bro, I’m saying it was terrible but it tried too hard in some areas and didn’t deliver in many.

    • @sickleweed3270
      @sickleweed3270 6 лет назад +2

      Mike'emSteveDave This is not my theory but someone else's: what if the Force chose Rey to be that powerful because of the current imbalance that is in favor of the Darkside? So to counteract that, Rey is given the ability to be just as powerful as Kylo. As for Snoke, honestly, I was surprised that many people were upset by that...based on just TFA, I didn't see him as anything more than an one dimensional villain that eventually would be dealt with...the story to me has always been about Kylo, Rey, Poe, and Finn. I'm not sure why anyone cares about learning the backstory of the stereotypical villain. If this is attachment resulting from other forms of Star Wars media, then I don't know that it is fair to judge the movie by that. The movie did have flaws, for sure, but I can't agree that not learning about Snoke's history is one of them.

    • @KallenSC
      @KallenSC 6 лет назад +1

      Yes hates....And from who Luke learn a lightsaber fight?? Remember?? From None and he defeat great Anakin/Vader who does a lot crazy shit in prequels......?? No but you dumb fanboy dont wanna see that in Star wars movies Luke wasn't the greatest Jedi Master, he was pretty medicore or lower...Yes Kylo and Rey can be so power full in force users, cause they aren't balanced....remember from prequels, They killed in entire galaxy most of Force Users...so sooner or later Force would be "explode" ... That why Leila was that powerful to bring her body from space(yes i didn't like that scene, better if she would just stay in main deck...using force to keep her alive.) That why Luke was power force user(but not great lightsaber fighter) to project himself on other planet, that pretty powerful. Yes Kylo REn and Rey probably would not have a chance in fight with Palpatine, Windu, Yoda, Anakin/Vader, Obi and many other Jedi from past....but in their time THERE ARE NO MORE better lightsaber fighters!!!

      All Max I don't follow you on this. The Force Awakens didn't end with failure for the Resistance. And it didn't end with the Resistance fleeing the First Order. This movie seemingly starts where Episode VII ends. Sorry, but this movie has no plot. The Last Jedi literally has no synopsis. The Resistance is always running from the First Order in this movie, but is never held hostage by them. As a stand alone movie, there is no reason given for the Resistance's fleeing. The original trilogy was about the righting of a supernatural imbalance between good and evil. The Force Awakens should have been about a sudden burst of supernatural evil and a push to subdue it. The Last Jedi should have been about dark side force users with their minions, seemingly totally wiping out the full gamut of light side force users until they have to face who seems to be the final Jedi.

    Pretty good movie. Some of the best cinematography in the franchise. The Rey/Kylo/Luke plotline was outstanding. Genuinely great, and with a thematic depth I wasn't expecting. And yes, fuck your Snoke theories.
    The Poe/Leia/Holdo plotline was good, but didn't have the kind of payoff that it really needed (Poe only sort of comes off like he learned anything). The Finn/Rose/DJ plotline was out of place and dragged the rest of the movie down, but I liked Rose as a character and thought she was a good addition to the franchise.
    Most of the negative things I see people complaining about are the usual nitpicks and "you ruined my childhood" nonsense.

      Jango747 Yeah, Hux probably should've been demoted like Poe was after the whole Starkiller Base thing, and I do wonder the same thing: what has he done to warrant his high ranking? I'm curious about that too. I still like him though because Domhnall Gleeson gives the character just the right amount of campy to make Hux fun to watch for me.
      As for Rose...I don't like her or hate her...she was ok...I think the Canto Bight thing didn't do any favors for her character, but I do wish they didn't introduce the romance aspect to her relationship with Finn because I don't want to see a love triangle between her, Rey and Finn. I'm READY, 1h 40! w00t
    Loved the film myself, although there were some questionable points in the film.
    The whole structure of the film was great, left completely intrigued throughout the whole thing and wasn't really sure where it was headed which is a nice change from the other Star Wars films; although I love them, you could generally grasp a sense of where it was going and how it was going to end up whereas with this film it had me somewhat anxious (in a good way) and in complete anticipation of where it was heading.
    The plot was spot on. Rey discovering what the force truly is about and finding her place in everything was exciting to watch and her attitude towards Ben shifting. Discovering Luke tried to kill Ben in hindsight for that scene alone when Ben said that to Rey I thought I wouldn't of believed it. Possibly being a ploy for Kylo to seduce Rey to the dark side. However, the set up of Ben's character in The Force Awakens and emphasized in this film; his visible remorse killing Han and the conflict you can see brewing in him, had me entirely convinced he was telling the truth and that there was a chance for a dark side character to return to the light for once which is a twist I was rooting for in this film.
    Furthermore, discovering Luke's rash decision to kill Ben as being just a rash train of thought rather than a premeditated dark plan was a great plot point imo. You could argue that a Jedi master wouldn't make a mistake like that, but it's a statement of Luke's humanity, although dark and why he ultimately comes to believe the Jedi must end. He chose to sacrifice the few for the needs of the many. Although a dark thought, it was to protect the ones he loved.
    I've always interpreted a balance of the force as being a new order that needs to be introduced that intertwines the dark and the light side of the force. The Jedi suggests the dark side is all bad, as the name suggests (which makes observing it hard to think otherwise) but in my opinion the dark side has it's benefits. Temptation and selfishness are an essential part of life; again that sounds bad on the surface and why those are attributed with the dark side and frowned upon by the Jedi but let me explain.
    Let's look at it from a basic level of the force within sentient beings as being the essence of life itself. To stay alive we must be tempted through instinct to eat and survive right? We must also be selfish, to stay alive and defend ourselves against something that might threaten our life, right? If a herbivore runs from a predator, it's being selfish through instinct to save itself; a basic instinct that protects life from something that might extinguish it. Otherwise, if that herbivore were not selfish through instincts to save itself, it would roll over and die for the predator; to save itself would be selfish. I may have lost you, but ultimately the Jedi suggests you must not give in to those elements of the force; but they're necessary for life and Luke's blindness to those elements of the force is what created Kylo Ren. His temptation to kill in the hope of selfishly saving the one's he loves at the expense of another sentient was rash, because he was untrained and taught to resist. Rather than understand those feelings through the study of the dark side, which is why they were a rash thought and led to his mistake which he then realised was a mistake by which point it was too late and Ben was lost the worst of the dark side because of Luke's ignorance of the dark side.
    Fruthermore, on a more complex note in terms of sentient life. The Jedi has you extinguish any personal ties to lead you not into any kind of temptation that might benefit yourself over anyone else. But to benefit yourself is to benefit others and continue life. To love someone and continue your lineage through family; you're naturally tied to them and without that temptation of love how could you save your family from danger? Your individual longing for love is a selfish act but ultimately benefits others. To save the ones you love from an outside threat is considered dark by the Jedi. So by that, if all sentient life were Jedi's and not allowed to love, how could we reproduce and continue life? We would have no means to without temptation, selfishness and love.
    So by that philosophy, the Jedi must end. Something new must rise from the ashes and bring a balance to the force.
    *Que oh so wise Yoda to burn the old books"
    That's why I loved that scene, it spoke a thousand words; though I can understand without context why fans would be salty.
    I've never though a balance of the force should be a war between two sides like the two sides believe it to be. However, a balance of the force should be a combined element. A new order that studies the best of both sides of the force. The Jedi are bad for misunderstanding the true meaning of life and the Sith are bad for mistreating the powerful elements of the dark side (such as love) as means for tempting the destruction of life (Think Anakin being indoctrinated by Palpatine, through his love for Padme leading to killing everything else in an attempt to save her, whereas an order of balance could've taught Anakin to love without being selfish in an evil way).
    This idea then leads on what I see as Luke's epiphany. He used the force to impose himself elsewhere and face off against Kylo Ren; using a true balance of the force. Buying them time in both a selfish and selfless act. Selfish in the sense he was saving the ones he loves, selflessly over exerting himself using the force to save others; using everything the Jedi taught him yet using the dark side of the force. Everything good about the Jedi driven by everything good about the dark side; a complete balance of the force. The disappearance at the end wasn't him dying from using too much of the force in my opinion, but a transcendence to becoming one with the force as he achieved perfect balance in his final moments. Much how I believe Yoda and Obi-Wan were able to do so and how they now exist within the force, as they achieved true balance and become one with the force.
    God damn, I've just realised what I've just wrote. Shit, we still talking about the film?
    LOOOOOL
    Anyway, the rest of the film like Rey being tempted to the dark where all through her longing to belong and be loved by finding out who her parents. Again, a harmless part of the dark side that should not be feared and why that mirror scene worked wonders for me. It spoke how she didn't have to search for others who don't love her back, that doesn't continue the circle of life and it suggests how she shouldn't be afraid to be selfish and root for herself and achieve her own goals rather than waiting for someone else.
    I was curious about Rey's heritage and was on the hype train with everyone else about who her parents could be but I was so glad they turned out to be no one. I believe it was that strong needing for love from her parents (a dark attribute remember) that made the force in her so strong; something inside, waiting to burst out.
    Her trusting in Ben and having that turn on it's head to have herself completely outwitted by Snoke was awesome; the conflict of light and dark in Ben made for a balance that defeated snoke and allowed him to 1 up him. Showing that both sides of the force is better with one. Using one hand with the dark side that snoke was focusing on and the other hand with the light side that snoke couldn't see was awesome. I've seen people argue that Snoke was super powerful and shouldn't of died like that but the statement behind it being just how powerful a balance of the force is compared to just the dark side or the light. While watching the film I was hoping Ben would switch to the light and thought it was going to happen in the final confrontation after Snoke and the red guards. At which point Ben's justification for making it all end is easy to sympathise with. Being betrayed by the Jedi and the First Order; his intentions with the force turned evil, proposing an end to life; to let it die. I say evil with the force instead of dark because as I've made clear, the dark and the light are misunderstood so from this scene it birthed something new for me when understanding the force to make it more black and white; good and evil. Rey's intentions were to save life by having the fleeing ships saved out of love and sympathy for the people on board; her intentions were good.
    So at this point the tension brews. Kylo is evil and wants to destroy the force of life. Rey is good and wants to save the force of life.
    At the time of watching I was still thinking in terms of the dark side and light side and really wasn't sure who might've joined who. But seeing them face off was epic; both able to use a balance of the force. Opposites of the force like dark and light: Luke and Vader faced off in a lightsaber battle by attracting to one another (OPPOSITES ATTRACT) but Rey and Kylo were both able to balance the force (SAME REACTS) two polar similarities visually magnetising away from one another with the force in the standoff made such a broad statement about how the ways of the force and the understanding of Star Wars has shifted.
    Damn, I'm still going with the philosophy, anyway as for those story arcs that's what I made of them. However, for the other lighthearted arc such as the Finn and Rose I didn't enjoy as much and the Po and Admiral (can't remember her name) I found myself intrigued but dumbfounded in a bad way for political statement I feel it was trying to make.
    The whole Finn and Rose thing was very cheesy, I felt it was thrown in there for the sake of having a love story. Didn't find myself seeing any chemistry there at all, the whole trip to the casino felt a bit too much like it was trying to become another iconic Cantina scene, but personally didn't enjoy the too Earth like relation it was making to the casino, I like inspired. But not too inspired!

      I felt a more suitable original theme could've been used for acquiring the codebreaker and having that amount to nothing anyway made the whole thing a waste of time and yes I know it was building up to the whole Admiral having a plan all along sort of thing (which I have another problem with) but we could've at least got something more out of it unless the codebreaker is actually double double crossing the first order and not entirely out for himself to play a bigger role in the new movie? I liked the codebreaker character, I feel there is more to be explored with him in the next film possibly.
      I love Finn's character but thus far seems to have been just a foot soldier with small aids helping the resistance. Having him go out with the speeder I felt was the perfect ending for him, to heroically buy time for the resistance when he's appeared to be quite the coward before. Only for that to be done over by Rose saving him pointlessly when that would've killed everyone had Luke not shown up. Yes they wouldn't of blown the doors down but it would've bought them time until the First Order could've conjured something else up but Finn's true heroism was overshadowed by the all powerful Luke and what he could've done giving his life amounted to nothing but being saved by someone who wanted him for herself romantically when that whole thing between them was cringey and pointless. But other than that his scenes with him where some good gaffs most of the time. Like him walking around with fluid pouring out had me giggling.
      Now, seeing Poe rip shit up in his X-wing was so cool. Loved the whole objective based lone wolf thing and encouraging the pack to come join the fight and finishing the destroyer off with mass sacrifice and the butt clenching bombs away scene was so well done and had me on the edge of my seat.
      On his return to the main ship, it was expected that Leah would penalise him for it and fair enough she did.
      Her scene with the force was great. I wasn't expecting but hoping I could see her use the force, I knew it wasn't it with her anticlimatic death after Ben decided not to kill her. I though she might've conjured escaping gas from the ship up to merge around her face to keep her breathing until rescue but seeing her float back to the ship was kind of a jaw dropping "OMG she's doing the force thing and everyone is seeing her use it OMG" moment. Her absence bringing Admiral into play was a wtf is this kind of moment. I feel like she was portrayed as some sort of feminist with her comments about Poe being all honcho with his man plans which were sound plans considering they were the only option but no we won't tell the commander we have a plan we'll just stick to formalities with his rank stripped and then poof. Turns out the feminists aren't really that bad and turn around to sacrifice for greater good by becoming a lightspeed ship sized bullet. I felt like that whole thing was a political statement of "women in power aren't just for women, they one for all in the end despite the looks of things" was too clear and kind of annoyed me. Just be a leader making the right calls. If you're a woman, cool. Man? Cool. I don't care, just felt the whole political statement spoiled that plot line for me and was unnecessary.
      I've got to say thought when I seen Admiral purple hair take the helm I knew what was coming, something I've always thought about and always wanted to see happen in a sci-fi film. "What happens when you jump to warp/lightspeed/splipspace if there's an object in the way? And we found out. But oh my god, DID WE FIND OUT. It was the most beautiful piece of cinema I've ever seen. A truly artistic spectacle; something I was waiting to see for years and it was more beautiful than I ever thought a trivial thought could become.
      There are plenty of other points I could make about the movie like it's art, awesome choreographed battles and much more. But most of what I said is what matters to me; glad I can share it here on this channel. I've watched all the Game of Thrones reactions with Calvin and through S6/S7. Still watching Rick's, now I'm about to finally watch this video looool! Keep up the good work guys.

    I found this movie enjoyable, and I thought it was better than TFA. I would agree that it’s the best movie since Empire. Not my absolute favorite at the moment, but I liked it.
    A lot of really great moments and sequences in the movie (My favorites being Luke talking with Yoda, Kylo Ren killing Snoke and fighting the guards, and Luke’s death with the Binary Sunset theme.)
    Overall, I expected a very VERY vocal minority of people to hate the film (they never really give valid reasons, they just say “Disney’s ruining Star Wars, like they forget Attack of the Clones is a movie)-

    I loved this movie. Every minute of it. Didn't mind too much the cantina scene. Loved Mark Tamil as luke. Loved the acting from everyone. Including Carrie fisher's amazing final performance. Loved snoke. His death was satisfying and the build up to it was great. Everything after that was great especially that fight between rey kylo and those guards. Loved the space battles. Loved the visuals. The effects both practical and cgi were amazing. Visually the movie looked beautiful. The story worked for me. The action scenes worked for me. Yoda was fantastic. My jaw dropped at all the film's biggest moments. An original star wars movie written very well. The characters are emotionally strong as well as likeable. The emotional weight was there and it works. The twists were good. Loved captain phasma. Loved her fight with finn. Loved the humor. Rian Johnson did a solid job. Loved it. Loved this movie.

    Personally, I love every Star Wars movie, although Episodes 1 and 2 are kind of hard to sit through.
    When I first saw The Last Jedi - I could understand why people hated on it so much. It went in directions that people didn't expect, and some didn't really want. That being said, I LOVED pretty much all of the twists in the movie. I do agree with most people that the Canto Bight stuff was pretty unnecessary though.
    SPOILERS:
    Luke's death: I loved the way Rian Johnson handled the passing of Luke Skywalker (which I know is an unpopular opinion). The whole point of Luke's force projection thing is to buy the resistance time to escape. It was never going to be about going out in a blaze of glory like many people expected/wanted. Isn't the whole point of the Jedi to be the peacekeepers of the Galaxy and of the Force? Luke did something that nobody had ever done (as far as we know) at that extreme of a level. How much more of a Jedi can he be? I loved the imagery of Luke becoming one with the Force with the sunset in the background, it was a beautiful callback to the original Star Wars. People are angry about Luke just disappearing into the force peacefully, although they seem to forget that Yoda basically did the same thing in Return of the Jedi, nobody seemed to have a problem with that though.
    Luke's Cowardice: This also brings up the complaint that Luke is a coward who went into hiding, when he does literally the same thing Yoda and Obi-Wan did at the end of Revenge of the Sith. They failed to see evil right under their nose, and it came out and destroyed the Jedi Order, which is what Ben Solo did. The difference is that Luke actually did see the evil and was about to hastily act on it, but then was caught with his lightsaber lit and the rest is history. Luke was ashamed of what he let happen, and felt like the galaxy would be better off without him, and without the Jedi as a whole. People say that Luke wouldn't pull out his lightsaber like that, but it wasn't the first time he let his emotions get the best of him. Remember Return of the Jedi, when Luke was beating the living hell out of Darth Vader? He let his anger get the best of him for a few moments, but he stopped and realized what he was doing and fought against it. The same thing happened with Ben Solo, Luke just realized it too late.
    Snoke's Death: This was beyond satisfying, Snoke always felt like a placeholder for when Kylo would eventually take over as Supreme Leader. I think this actually makes Snoke a bit more interesting because it makes you question, who the hell was that guy? He was obviously very powerful with the Force because he threw Rey around like a rag doll, and then to just get killed off so easily. Who is he? What's his story? I have a feeling that more will be learned about him in Episode IX through some kind of backstory. I think the point is that the Force is always looking for balance, there's never not going to be a sith, it has to remain balanced, which is why Snoke appeared. The Force chose him to balance out the light.There may be lulls where there are more light side force users than darksiders, but eventually it balances back out.
    Rey and Ben: Going into the movie, I thought that one of the major characters would switch sides or something. I got that, for like 5 minutes. Ben Solo kills Snoke unexpectedly and briefly fights the Praetorian Guards alongside Rey, which was an amazingly awesome fight scene. For a moment I thought, "Okay so is Ben a good guy now?" I really liked when Ben basically turns back into Kylo Ren and asks Rey to join him and rule the galaxy together. It shows that maybe Ben Solo isn't redeemable after all. The only nitpick I have is that Rey doesn't seem to be really tempted even a little bit to join the dark side, she just immediately tells Ben to not go that way. Other than that, this was a really great scene.
    Rey's Parents: I don't have much to say about this one because I find this to be the least interesting major character detail. That being said, I like the subversion of expectations, and I like the message. I think it's a much better message that someone can come into power and make a name for themselves coming from nothing, rather than having to be born into it. Much like Snoke, I think the Force chose Rey to balance things out. This is actually in line with the whole thing from Attack of the Clones about Jedi not being allowed to love, because how else do they procreate? I guess the idea is that the Force chooses people to be force-sensitive, and that's how the Jedi Order found new Jedi.
    The kid with the broom: Pretty much the only real reason why Canto Bight is in the movie, at the very end of the film you see a force-sensitive kid use the Force to grab a broom. This goes along with what I said about the Force choosing people to be force-sensitive. With the passing of Luke Skywalker, and there really only being two Jedi remaining (Ben and Rey), the galaxy needs new ones.
    Canto Bight: Okay, so this is pretty much the only thing I didn't like about the movie. I don't think it's necessarily god-awful, it's just unnecessary. The movie is 2h 31m, cut out most of the Canto Bight stuff and it's not quite as much of a chore to sit through. Finn and Rose's plan fails, and I think that may have been kind of a meta point on the part of Rian Johnson. Not all grand plans succeed, and that may have been the point. If it was, they didn't illustrate it very well. Like I said, the main payoff for the whole Finn and Rose trip to Canto Bight is the kid with the broom at the end of the film. I really felt like Finn was wasted as a character in this film, he was such a big part of TFA, and then he becomes kind of a side character in TLJ. His story could have been much more meaningful and powerful if he had been allowed to sacrifice himself like the film teased for a moment, but then Rose had to fly into him and ruin it... She made it worse with a really forced kiss that I think Finn was even surprised by.
    Leia and Poe: I thought the whole flyboy Poe thing was kind of cliche, but it was fine since we knew what Poe was like because of how he acted in TFA. I also loved how we finally got to see Leia use the Force, although admittedly it looked kind of silly.
    Overall, Star Wars: The Last Jedi is a very solid film, the pacing is a little iffy because of the Canto Bight stuff, but the good moments are just too good.

    I think the movie had some of the best scenes in Star Wars ever, and I do appreciate that the whole theme of the movie was basically anyone can be a hero--it's not about your lineage or your upbringing or your training, etc--but I did have some issues with some of the finer details of the plot and some of the moments made me kinda cock my head and go, huh, REALLY? Sickle Weed it wasn’t good.
      The whole lore of Star Wars mirrors the idea of real life: “if you’re going to be good at something, you have to hone your craft and train”.
      You may have great potential, but that doesn’t mean you’re gonna be a fantastic athlete if you never train. You’ll never be a great musician if you never practice.
      This new saga squashed that. You can be anything by nothing. Rey is powerful because of no reason other than the mythos that of Ben gets more powerful, she directly gets more powerful. That’s ridiculous.
      She’s only picked up a saber in a manner of two weeks tops? And she’s able to force beat Kylo, yet struggles against the Protarian Guards, yet cant control her lightsaber and Snoke smacks her in the back of the head with it...yet she can also life tons of boulders at the end with no strain...?
      So either Kylo and Rey are no threats to anyone, or they’re just unrealistic and inaccurate.
      That’s one of my biggest issues with what they’re doing with the Force and trying to make their power believable. It’s not.
      It would make sense if she were powerful due to a bloodline like Skywalker or Kenobi.
      What doesn’t make sense is to be unnaturally powerful by not having to be a steward of her gifts.

    Luke in the Extended Universe:
    - Elected one of the Representatives of the New republic
    - Rebuilds the Jedi Order on Yavin, trains awesome new Jedi like Kyle Katarn
    - Defeats multiple empire remnant leaders like Grand Admiral Thrawn with the help of his friends
    - Not only defeats the Emperor's super hot and empowered personal assassin, Mara Jade, whose last orders were to kill Luke at all costs, but also turns her to the light and FUCKING
    MARRIES her creating the coolest space couple ever
    - Has children with her who along with Han and Lea's kids spawn an entire new generation of interesting and impactful characters
    - Fights off dozens of new and interesting villains like the Yu'zonn Vong, an invading race from an entirely different galaxy who can hide from the Force making a new and interesting
    dynamic, Lumia the Sith who uses a lightwhip like a bad-ass and turns one of the Solo kids into one of the most powerful Sith ever, and a reincarnation of one of the goddamn founders
    of the Sith order on Korriban
    - Overall, grows to be an amazingly powerful and wise character who grew from a farm-boy to the last hope of the galaxy to the courageous hero everyone in all of the galaxy knows they
    can count on and will always be there for them.
    Luke in the disney movies:

    OK SHORT & SWEET - All Johnson had to do was tell us that Rey was the lost daughter of Luke's and her mother died tragically on the island (Luke standing at her grave in TFA) when Kylo & The Knights of Ren took the place down. Luke freaks out at the death of his wife with little Rey screaming, panics AND WIPES HER MEMORY and sends little Rey to Jakku with Lorne Sen Tekka (on that ship) with his Jedi USB and R2 (turned off) with the other half go the map and drops him off with Leia. Meanwhile - Kylo & The Knights of Ren joined Snoke & built the first order together as a one big gang of bad asses. TFA ends as it does perfectly setting it all up. NOW CUE TLJ - Luke and Rey reunite after all these years crazy emotional scene - he begins her training, at the tree they both meet Yoda ghost together, form a plan, hook up with Leia, Chewy, R2 & 3P0, board the Falcon like old times (classic shot of all of them) and sneek onto Snokes ship and take them all out in a blaze of glory. Snoke kills Leia in front of everyone and Luke saves everyone else by sacrificing himself with the most bad ass force move seen in any SW film. Rey & Kylo have it out - he realizes she is his cousin. Everyone watches it and Kylo pulls a fast move & escapes into space in his ship, followed by an injured Snoke and a few remaining bad guys.
    ROLL CREDITS EVERYONE CHEERS AND FREAKS OUT BRING ON IX!
    IX - 3 years pass - Rey, Finn & Poe reform the Rebellion with new blood, get a hint where Kylo & Snoke are hiding and then go after them. But before that - Rey gets a visit from Obi Wan (ewan), Anakin (hayden) & LUKE. They teach her some new moves and tell her that a new age of Jedi are being born around the galaxy (the little broom boy etc) Rey sets out to discover some of these kids, forms her OWN GANG and along the way she runs into LANDO, he heard about Leais death and hans passing, Chewy hugs Lando and gives him the DICE from the Falcon (tie its origin in SOLO) Lando is almost in tears. He helps them get to Snokes hiding place. They arrive and confront Kylo & the remaining Knight of Wren & an army of troopers. Massive battle ensues and it ends up In front of Snoke in classic SW style, Rey goes for him hard & has to choose to save her cousin from the clutches of Snoke and turn him good. We see Kylo turn to look at Snoke freeze holding Rey with force lighting - all of a sudden Kylo get a message from Leia ghost appears in silent to him "Mother!?" and she gives him the courage and love to turn her son to the light - HE TURNS AND GRABS TWO SABRES & SLICES SNOKE IN HALF. He picks up Rey and they all bolt together before the whole place lights up in flames.

    My main issue is that there was so little pay-off for anything they ever set-up for this trilogy. Rey's parents? Nope. Snoke's identity? Nope. End of the Jedi? Nope. A character turning to the other side? Nope. Rey's dark side? Nope. Finn's growth from running away to running toward? Almost, but noped by Rose. Finn and Rose's mission? Nope. Phasma importance? Nope. etc, etc, etc. In the end, I feel there was a whole lot of nothings and nopes in the movie than there were satisfying answers. Its lore was empty and fruitless. Luke said it wouldn't go the way we expect, so we expect the unexpected, and in the end it goes the expected route. I felt... unsatisfied with what the movie gave me.

    Rey’s parents aren’t anybody. Smoke and Luke basically tell us...
    Ben was a raw power from the force, and leaned heavily towards the dark. Snoak was also heavily dark. Luke was the force of light. The force had to try and balance the equation, so Rey was born strong with the force. It doesn’t matter who her parents are. She is the balance for Kylo. They are both full of light and dark, but each have tenancies toward one side. That is why Rey exists. ...to balance the force. I totally believe her parents were just junkers. If they’re not, and they really are “someone”, that’s ok too. But it’s the nature of the universe... for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. Balance.

    Last Jedi defenders: please explain these following scenes, and how they are 'great'.
    1. Poe and co not getting sucked out into space when they let Leia in after the Poppins scene.
    2. The absolute idiocy of the bombers. (Three of four got destroyed by HALF a tie fighter crashing into one of them.
    2.5. Apparently all ships in the universe travel at the same speed, and cannot escape or catch up with another.
    3. Canto Byte.
    4. The comedy. (It was meh)
    5. Rose crashing into Finn's speeder and then saying "That's how we are going to win: not fighting what we hate, saving what we love," as the whole resistance *dies* behind her. (officially the worst line in the whole saga as of now)
    6. How the living *fu@k* did Finn pull Rose all the way across the salt dunes without the AT-ACT's seeing them and shooting them to death.
    7. Light-speed crash. (It was cool, but why don't the rebels just make dense ships and crash them into the Death Star in the past?)
    8. Captain Phasma and Snoke were wasted completely.
    9. Everyone is happy in the Falcon at the end, despite everyone they knew being dead and there being only 12 members of the resistance left.
    10. Rey can swim, despite living on Jakku (a **desert planet**) all of her life.
    11. Rey can get a triple kill with the Falcon's guns with her first ever shot, despite never having flew or shot it before.
    12. Rey beating Luke, the Jedi Master, after having no training. Also, besting Snoke's guards when even Kylo struggled.
    13. Luke senses a bit of darkness in his Nephew (the son of his BEST FRIEND) and goes to kill him, despite having turned the most evil man in the galaxy to the light side because he thought there was good in him.
    14. Porgs.
    15. Mark Hamill himself said that he hates what they have done with the film and his character.
    16. Finally, the 40% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
    17. The Political Messages all through the film.
    18. Why didn't Holdo tell anyone the plan? You could say that there was a mole, but the moment she started fueling the transports then any potential mole would have KNOWN the plan. (Dumb)
    Please get back to this comment and these points, I am genuinely curious to why you like it. :)

      There is *no* need to differentiate people into _good_ TLJ bashers and _bad_ TLJ defenders. It is just a movie and these guys happened to enjoy the movie. Doesn't mean they have to think it is perfect, they clearly explained their faults with the film too.
      For example, Eric asked why didn't Holdo tell her plan and he questioned the Holdo maneuver. Watch the video before commenting.
      And a movie doesn't have to 100% adhere to perfect realism in order to be enjoyable. You have go give Star Wars movies a benefit of the doubt with realism: Han Solo and Leia on the small asteroid stayed alive without any space suits, Han Solo and Leia made to Bespin sub light speed when it would have taken decades to get there with that speed, the concept of light speed travelling itself being rigged because of relativity; Luke would be an old guy after the first jump Han and Leia take without him. How can you possibly enjoy those previous movies now that they too have many things that you have to just shut your eyes off from?
      These are only movies meant for entertainment and not be taken so passively aggressively serious :)))))). Especially since this specialized scrutiny (which would also rip apart the old movies) toward TLJ was learned from channels who make a living out of adhering to older people's childhood's and bashing the newer ones.

    I enjoyed the film a lot. My only personal gripes were Rey abruptly leaving Luke when he was willing to teach her. Just to save Ben? I don’t think Ben was in such immediate danger that he couldn’t be redeemed at a later point. She went on a suicide mission on her own because she was so sure she could save him and they would duo defeat everyone on the ship... ok.
    That led to a major continuity issue because Ben essentially takes a nap and Rey is able to escape off screen and get back on the falcon? How and when? Did I miss something?
    Second point was Ben saving Rey yet not wanting to redeem himself. He said he wants the old ways to end on both sides but then basically takes up Snoke’s original mission to destroy the rebellion. He didn’t seem willing to kill the first order to achieve his vision of wiping the slate clean. So what exactly changed since his original motive under Snoke?
