      I'm normally cynical of CIG, but I don't think that's the reason. The other thing that will mitigate that is higher operating costs and the requirement of multi-crew rather than everything being done solo.

    While i dont mind price increases. I think those should have come with beta. Firstly we'd assume beta has more earning mechanisms for different gameplay loops. We'd assume wipes are all but ended except perhaps once a year, and that the development focus is on stability making the earning journey more enjoyable and reliable. Overall i hope we see a better diversity in the verse, and the price brackets are a bit better and make more sense.

    So they raise prices by insane amounts and yet they nerf anything that makes players good money in game. To make matters worse majority of activities are still absolutely buggy as hell. This is why I stopped playing. They do shit like this that push players away. I used to do a lot of mining but then it got nerfed so I switched to bounties and bunkers which both are so buggy they are not even worth doing.

    I think this change is the right one, with bad timing.
    The game still is in a rough spot ( even 3.23 ) and their "oopsie daisy we didnt intend to wipe but we wiped" ways are just too wonky for me to justify this much of a grind.
    Yes, when the game is out i would prefer astronomical ship prices. In a finished game where im guaranteed to keep my stuff, a grind is fun and makes sense. But not now.

    I'm only recently getting back into SC but even a couple of years back, people were asking why I buy so many ships with cash, when they are so easy to earn in game. well, it is my theory that the "easy buys" are because they wanted people to be able to buy ships between economy resets. and they have inflated earnings (and drastically cut cargo trade earnings) to test out varous careers. but I have long held that in the released game, ships vs earnings will be EXPENSIVE. the thought "you can buy all the ships in the game" will change to "all the ships will be available in game, you can buy any ship in the game, but maybe only 2 or 3 unless you really have a lot of free time. (but for those of us with jobs and families, forget it) so I recommend having a few good earners, particularly in your chosen field, like for me, trading, have a cutty, MSR, Taurus, Railen, Herc, BMM, and maybe a Hull D and E. so you can focus on earning bigger cargos, not having to also earn bigger ships. Buy a couple of your favorite fighters, and a toy or 2... I don't want'to have to distract from my career to buy that 350 R or pointless, but beautiful khartu Al.
    at my age, I may have 3000 gaming hours left in my lifetime. if it takes 300 hours to earn a Connie Phoenix in game. but 20 hours to earn the cash to buy it. (made up numbers) the cash buy is a steal.

  • @Accuracy158
    @Accuracy158 5 месяцев назад +2

    So how hard is it to make money? And is there still a big disparity in earning potential with a few get rich quick schemes and everything else not providing meaningful money?
    Prices in a vacuum aren't that meaningful but because the increases are so high I do suspect that they are trying to make stuff much harder to earn in game... In no small part to help real money sales.
    On the positive side I wonder if raising prices could indicate that CIG thinks they are leaving the phase of continual wipes. Having a slightly more expensive Prospector wouldn't be so bad if I didn't need to earn it over and over again.

    • @LoudGuns
      @LoudGuns  5 месяцев назад +1

      Structural salvage is still broken even after being halved (5m or so an hour rather than 10m is still out of whack). Excluding that at the top end I think around 500K an hour is possible in a number of professions at the top levels - bunkers, bounties, mining etc - so I would reference prices vs that.

    This is rough I stopped playing about a year ago now and they still don't have the ship I paid for. I wish they would just focus on delivering things they already promised instead of permanently putting them off. I understand that the game loop isn't good enough for most players, but I paid for the ship not the gameplay. I know that sounds insane, but I figured it would take a few months not years. Overpromise and underdeliver. Except instead of delivering a low-quality ship or something to that effect you get nothing but world and gameplay development, not bad on their own but not an appropriate use of resources given how much money was invested in ships..... oh well at least loud guns will keep me in the loop 3 years from now lol.. • @Rikalonius
      @Rikalonius 5 месяцев назад +1

      That's true, but that could be mitigated. Right now, that I know of, there is no official Org system. Like other MMOs there needs to be an Org bank, and any ship purchased under that Org bank account, cannot be owned by a player, only sold for a reduced rate, if at all.

    11:50 the Freelancer now seems to come with a whopping 3S2 shields, compared with the single S2 available on the Cutlass, which justifies the price hike.
    Current prices are too low, with people hoarding ships in the garage like peanuts before necessary wipes: it would be cool through to be able to get rid of old unused ships collecting dust and get a discount on new ones, instead of just being a nuisance, cluttering our garage list as we look for a particular ship to spawn.

      Yeah, earning can be very slow at first if you only have a starter ship (as I did), but it increases exponentially as you earn enough to buy bigger and better ships and right now with the low ship prices you have people earning enough for the most expensive ship in game in just a week or two, which is far too quick.

    Really nicely laid out. I think that the new ship prices are a good thing and whilst some of them seem to be astronomically expensive I think its important to take into consideration that the pay-outs from completing missions are also going to be increased. We could also see changes made to the value of salvaged components and weapons etc. As with everything in life balance is important and in this case I think its is much needed. I haven't heard anything on there being a 3.23 wipe but I think its starting to look like a very real possibility. This both terrifies me and excites me as I too make all my ship purchases in game and the grind has been fairly intense up until now. That being said the process has given me the knowledge to be able to earn credits in so many different ways. I also agree that being able to either part exchange or sell ships would be a really useful mechanic as it would make things far more efficient. I have tried to make the most of the cheap times to buy and test as many ships and vehicles as possible as u never really get to know a ship until u have lived with it for a while. There are some that i love and some that i didnt like as much as i thought i would and at least for me some would not be worth the grind the second time around. I did recently purchase a Valkyrie though and I have to say this is one ship that i do love. I'm not exactly sure what it is about that ship but it seems to resonate with me in a way that others dont. It would be really nice if they could buff the pilot controlled weapon options a bit given its a military ship and given the cost of it. Being brought in line with a cutlass or a prowler would be nice and having the odd missile here and there would be perfection at its best. Will definitely be grinding for that one again for sure. I have also chosen not to play the new patch until its on live as I would like to play it at its best with polish so i can enjoy making all the new discoveries as much as possible. So excited for this! Really enjoy your vids. Keep up the awesome work.

    • @cyberrascal
      @cyberrascal 4 месяца назад

      @@shandon122 Thank you for your reply. I do mostly agree with you especially now that the 3.23.1 patch has come and gone. I do think that buying the ships while they were cheap provided some very useful insight that would now be much harder to gain with the new prices and while the game is still finding its feet once again and also with the 4.0 full wipe on the horizon I think that grinding for ships currently would indeed be a complete waste of time. I do think that changes needed to be made as there were too many people that pretty much owned almost every ship in game and prob had more than enough auec stashed away to buy them all again many times over. The in game economy was vey broken so from a devs perspective any analytics data would be massively flawed. For any future changes to the economy to be made accurately these changes need to be made but in a reasonable sense. Interested to see what the future holds.

    • @shandon122
      @shandon122 4 месяца назад

      @cyberrascal I hadn't known that, that definitely explains why they thought the change would be necessary. I really do hope they overhaul the in-game economy to have a reliable way for players to make auec. The changes are pretty rough for solo players like myself who isn't affiliated with an org who plays with a small group of friends. It took forever to scrape together the funds for the ships I have! It's really upsetting that a full wipe will make all of that have gone to waste. I wouldn't have minded the economy changes too much if it actually felt like you got to own the ships you earned.

    • @cyberrascal
      @cyberrascal 4 месяца назад

      @@shandon122 Yeah I know it does really suck to lose them all. The grind for me was a long and often quite boring process at times. The path to making the money for my ships was kind of by luck really. I also mostly play solo or with 1 other friend at most. I started during the last jumptown event. I would pick times when i knew most players were asleep usually early in the morning on weekdays at the beginning of the week and i would find servers with the least amount of players on and sneak into jumptown when nobody was there. i parked the ship right by the door and grabbed maze for both dispensers and stack the air lock and then the ship as many times as i could. I actually had the whole place to myself on many occasions which was surprising but fortunate being solo. That being said i did lose the odd ship or 2 full of maze to random trigger happy players which was somewhat irritating. I did that as many times as i could until i had about 5 mil then spent it all on a C2. The next time round i managed to get enough for a vulture and then gave up with the maze and started working on scraping ships for rmc. once i got better at that i got a friend to pilot he c2 and stack crates and between us we would fill the c2 with rmc until we both had enough ships and money at which point 3.23 dropped and salvage was nerfed big time. no more C2 salvage missions. Money can still be made salvage scraping but its so damn boring. It had to happen i suppose. I think the economy will be sorted out and that we will get paid more for completing missions fairly soon. Salvage should also get a bump with the value of salvaged ship components being worth selling. Nobody official has said there will definitely be a full wipe for 4.0 and I know that CIG is terrified of doing wipes as they get a lot of grief when they do but being in Alpha they have to do it sometimes which i hate but also understand. It does kind of kill the motivation for playing the game at times but when we finally get to 1.0 with no more wipes it will be game on! Finally we will be able to build for the future.

    If bounty cargo was as profitable as it was when it came out the prices would be just fine, but the fact they more than tripled all ships and made ert cargo significantly less profitable is just stupid, they can make the ships more expensive when they will never wipe the game again, but if they are gonna be wiping these prices are absolutely absurd with how much harder it is to make money now

    This goes one of two ways for me: IF (and it's a big "if") CIG have actually sorted the issue of in-game ships disappearing with patch updates AND they don't wipe too often then this is a very positive change and should provide some sense of a longer term progression to the game while also making ship prices a little more "realistic". However, if it turns out they haven't/can't fix the ship loss issue or they keep needing to wipe a lot then this price change will only serve to widen the "pay-2-win" gap between those who can and can't afford to pledge multiple ships, as it could take an average solo player (who has a busy job in the real world, and probably also kids) months now to earn the bigger ships, by which point CIG could have wiped multiple times.
    EDIT: just felt the need to come back and add my puzzlement to yours over the Vanguard and Hull C prices being so out of sink with their nearest equivalents. I think you're probably right the Hull C is because it's not very useful in game right now, but the Vanguards being twice the price of the other heavy fighters seems a bit bizarre despite them having beds etc.

    • @LoudGuns
      @LoudGuns  5 месяцев назад +2

      Yeah the only logic I could get to on the VG’s was that they’re the only real long distance fighters with the S2 drives (and beds as you rightly add). Maybe with Pyro this will prove even more advantageous but 2x a Scorp feels odd.

    On the matter of selling/trading in ship for new ones, I very much hope that CIG put in a system where ships bought on the store have a special account based purchase ID that allows you to sell it in game and on the store for credits but it will have a penalty if in game traded and/or the rebuy can’t be traded in for a set amount of time / or until next patch.

    • @Rikalonius
      @Rikalonius 5 месяцев назад

      I honestly think it should be the opposite. They have a special ID that will NOT allow them to be sold in game, and they have to be sold in the RSI store. Other than that, I think there should be a way to sell back ships. Even at half the purchase price, most players would be happy with that, I think.

    Oh a used car market would be fantastic. However what will be required is degradation and an actual cost sink to operate these giant ships. That's something CIG woefully lacks right now, and they make up for with huge price, though I agree, for many of them it is a reasonable cost, based on what the average solo player can make w/o game breaking loops like Reclaimer salvage. I think it needs to be much more expensive to operate an 890. The cost of any luxury item, an exotic car, jet or boat is much more in maintenance than in initial cost. When you have to constantly buy new thrusters because you burned them out trying to land your 890 on a planet, then we'll see how many people keep using them as a daily driver. Also, increasing the operations cost of ships would defuse some of the perceived "pay to win" criticisms. Yeah, you can spend a grand on an 890 in the shop, that doesn't alleviate it's operating costs.

Have bought enough ships with RL cash so not intending to invest in more ships, just to be able to play to win! And I would guess, that allot of the folks in here, that are happy about the Buffing of prices and dont care about the nerfing mission prices and commodity prices, have bought the ships with RL cash and play to win! Either CIG wants us not to play the game anymore or they Just want people to buy ships and in that way pay to win.

      I've been playing since 3.16 These game loops like risky salvage, ERT eggs, and Reclaimer salvage are absolutely a new phenomenon. You could never make in game aUEC like you've been able to do in the last 8 months. CIG did that to make sure those loops got tested. I knew from the first time I opened up a C2 and pulled out 10 million in cargo that crap was not going to last.

  • @SPACEBANANA3000-
    @SPACEBANANA3000- 5 месяцев назад

    I think this is a good step towards balancing money making. Now let's see how the rewards and mission gameplay turns out. I'm hoping for something more linear, rather than this exponential rewarding system. Meaning, once you can afford a Reclaimer, you can get your money back in like three hours. Same with Cargo Hauling RMC.

  • @Rikalonius

    One way they can prevent some of the economy breaking of ships like the reclaimer is to do the other thing they've been threatening to do, increase the timers. People being able to get their huge ships back in a couple hours has to change. I'd personally make it a function of player provided resources, mixed in with some provisions from Quantum. When you loose a ship, any ship, it goes into a queue, and the amount of resources in a pool available to build them, plus a preset timer are how long it takes. If there isn't anyone moving cargo, ships stay in queue, vice the trickle of goods being provided by quantum. On the point of the Sentinel vs other heavy fighters. I hope that EMP is worth it. Currently I have both a sentinel and inferno that I bought in game, I wouldn't waste my time with a sentinel unless things have change. I love it, dont' get me wrong, but it is destroyed too easily. I have much more survivability in my inferno. No, I don't have a bed or a toilet, but I hope that's not the reason for it costing me. Also, the MSR. I own one of those with r/l money, but I still see that increase, at least in its current state of survivability, firepower, and functionality as being far too expensive. Especially in the current state of Master Modes were you can't use counter-measures in travel mode (which is godawful stupid) Edit: The Ares models have the exact same components at the Vanguard, 2 s2 shields and a s2 quantum drive, and two s2 powerplants, and one extra cooler.

I earned around 200 million auec and there is nothing to spend it on. Getting a hammerhead for what… an 890 for what. Price hikes are fine, but there needs to be other barriers. Too many multicrew ships can be operated solo in combat. The operating costs are way to small. There needs to be components that have to be replaced, but not so onerous as to cause the person just to claim insurance. When actual in-game insurance is required, that will be another money sink.

      If the game never wiped again, I would agree with you that progression being slower was a positive change. But the game wipes. When I was new, I worked my way up to my first big ship purchase and then it got wiped a month or two later, and I felt a bit bad but moved on. If it'd taken me literally 5 times as long to earn the currency for that ship as my first and then it'd gotten wiped, I would have been miserable. "Real progression" is meaningless when regular wipes still occur.
