The Forbidden City in Beijing is the imperial palace of the Ming and Qing Dynasties in China, formerly known as the Forbidden City, located in the center of Beijing's central axis. The Forbidden City in Beijing is centered on three halls, covering an area of 720,000 square meters, with a construction area of about 150,000 square meters, more than 70 large and small palaces, and more than 9,000 houses. Construction of the Forbidden City in Beijing began in the fourth year of Yongle (1406) when the Emperor Chengzu of the Ming Dynasty became the ancestor of the Ming Dynasty. It was built based on the Nanjing Forbidden City. It was built in the eighteenth year of Yongle (1420) and became the palace of the 24 emperors of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. On the National Day of the 14th Year of the Republic of China (October 10, 1925), the Palace Museum was officially opened. The Forbidden City in Beijing is 961 meters long from north to south and 753 meters wide from east to west. It is surrounded by a 10-meter high city wall and a 52-meter wide moat outside the city. The Forbidden City has four gates, the Meridian Gate to the south, the Shenwu Gate to the north, Donghua Gate to the east, and Xihua Gate to the west. The four corners of the city wall each have a graceful turret. The folks have nine beams, eighteen pillars and 72 ridges, describing its complex structure. The buildings in the Forbidden City in Beijing are divided into two parts: the outer court and the inner court. The center of the Outer Dynasty is the Hall of Supreme Harmony, the Hall of Zhonghe, and the Hall of Baohe, collectively referred to as the three halls, where the country holds major ceremonies. The left and right wings of the three halls are supplemented by two buildings, Wenhua Hall and Wuying Hall. The center of the inner court is the Qianqing Palace, Jiaotai Palace, and Kunning Palace, collectively referred to as the Hou San Palace, which is the main palace where the emperor and empress live. Then came the Royal Garden. The sixth palace of east and west are arranged on both sides of the rear three palaces, which are the places where concubines live and rest. The east side of the East Sixth Palace is the Tianqiong Hall and other Buddhist temple buildings, and the west side of the West Sixth Palace is the Zhongzheng Hall and other Buddhist temple buildings. In addition to the outer court and the inner court, there are two parts of buildings, Waidong Road and Waixi Road. The Forbidden City in Beijing is one of the largest and best-preserved ancient wooden structures in the world. It is a national AAAAA-level tourist attraction. It was listed as the first batch of national key cultural relics in 1961; it was listed as a world cultural heritage in 1987.

Your title trapped me in. But I do enjoy the vd, nice place.
😆😆
Nice one...And I can say I have been there and done that as well, visited a couple of times..Peace and JaYoe
Jealous of you guys going to more places than I did as a HK Chinese.
Hopefully we are able to go back mainland without limitation soon
Absolutely, been in HK for over 10 years from Mainland but have been to very few places of our own country.
and me😂
HK seems can not return normal in this year. 😭😭
Hi Barretts, it is always very exciting to view your videos! THANK YOU VERY MUCH for showing the true China!!!
The costumes (clothes of yore) is always a great sight.
One of the most beautiful palaces on earth, been there in winter and in summer and cannot wait to go a third time again! Thanks for the great video
Apart from the sun dial
The Chinese emperor also had a machine that can detect earth quake
The forbidden city does not have a draw bridge. Because it is not castle.
And at the time the army is not allow to enter the City.
The army can only be stationed outside the city
Thus leaving the city guards to defend the City
Hi Lee and Ollie. The location where you viewed from the high point overlooking the Forbidden City, you are in the imperial gardens that the last Ming Emperor hung himself from a tree in the gardens and so begun the Ching dynasty
I talked with a African in 2012 , i said it was translated “ palace museum “ before , after 1989, the western propaganda always like use most negative words as a translation of any Chinese stuffs. Such as “ birth control policy “ was translated into “ one child policy “ which was misled a lot . All Chinese know a lot of Chinese families born more than one child , and all of other 55 ethnic groups including Uighur Chinese can born unlimited babies, that’s why uygur population has been increasing so much since 1978
Thanks for the tour in sunny winter Beijing! So lovely, I wish I could do the same with my parents 🥰!
Im learning mandarin just to prepare myself to visit Beijing and zhangjiajie in china. 😍😅im still struggling with tones though
jia you
Recommend Tianshan Mountains
If you have time, I am looking forward to your videos on your trips to Xinjiang, such as Kashgar and Urumqi. The scenery there is even more beautiful.
Thank you for you video Barrett.
Got fooled by the title 😂. I thought you had another one of that Hua Shan incident. Take care guys.
8:57 I've been to the exact place (景山公园) two years ago! it wasnt quite busy tho when i was there, but lots of elderly people were exercising in the garden. the view was so stunning and tranquil at the same time.
it feels strong but exciting as well to see you are on there too!
Great job! Hope by more people watching this video, there will be more respect to EVERY COUNTRIES, and less hate. ❤️
If you go to Xinjiang, you could even find local Chinese with white skin and blue eyes.
Your video makes me miss Beijing more... Thank you... My favorite old building in beijing is "Temple of Heaven". if you have chance, go take a look.... :-)
Currently living in London and watching two British guys introducing The palace museum, very interesting 😄. Proud of and deeply missing this city I used to stay for 6 years!
I know it's a clickbait tile but I click and watch anyway haha
it named forbidden city
@@yokaxi1011 I know :)
Hey Barett,
I feel like touring with you on this BEAUTIFUL HISTORIC SITE.
honestly, i like your channel, thank you so much for the videos.
Thank you too!
Brilliant clip. Wanna bring my boy there last year but we had Covid. Anyway, Forbidden city is a landmark of China. For sure. Thanks for bringing us there again.

You guys successfully made me missing my hometown especially at this hard moment sitting in a small apartment in NYC
Amazing job you guys did and Thank you! ...from my heart deep down
Such a beautiful place . I missed Beijing already.
some people went there after snow, with the white color, the building show a beautiful style
Are you on the top of Jing Shan at the last part of this video?💕
Summer Palace,is also a beautiful park
My classmate and I spent nearly two hours on a longitudinal tour of the Forbidden City. I think if you just walk around the Forbidden City (not tour it in detail), it will probably take you five or six hours. You can imagine how big it is.
Thank you so much. Another very nice video
Been there twice. Absolutely massive place!
Thanks for the video. More power to your channel.
USA freedom
Love the Barret channel and really enjoy the dialogues but scenery-wise this video doesn't do justice to the magnitude and beauty of the forbidden city. You have to see it with your own eyes. I've lived in Beijing for nearly 10 years and I visit this place at least once every year.
Forbidden city is my favourite city.
very educational and hope to see some more historical Grand videos as such. 👍👍
You know the center gorvnment is still in the west part of forbidden city today. Xi's office is in a traditional courtyard.
That's right, it is in 中南海 (Zhong Nan Hai), and unlike the rest of the Forbidden City, 中南海 is still forbidden today!
That's lucky that you guys can met such a good weather in Beijing, especially in winter. Because of the geographical environment and wind direction, haze and air pollution is prettty common here. Thanks for the video XD
You can visit Jiangsu. There are many places of interest in Jiangsu. It is very beautiful!
the emperors did have clocks though...
yes, only the qing emperors. Servant A: Man, what's the time now? Servant B: Ask the emperor.
@@AI-momo ming has already had clocks from europe
The Times is watching you 😏
i wish this video could be longer and showed us more of the inside of the forbidden city. This video just reminds me my first time went to Beijing for 3 months during the Olympic Games. What a great memory to me. As a Chinese from South East part of China, Beijing is such a huge city, so different to me. I hope I can travel to China and to Beijing soon!
Me too ……⚘🌷🌷🌷
The London Times: CPC paid Barrett’s to produce this video.
How much did you get paid to comment here ?
Times gives you wrong information, Barrett's have clarified in another video.
That’s means foreigners come to travel in China, don’t make videos for share with friends and family. Otherwise everyone will be paid by CCP, China will lose many many money 🤣🤣🤣
I especially don't like people who talk nonsense without evidence, because it is really mindless
