- Playing Bach's Goldberg Variations Aria with two synthesizers (Moog Grandmother and Korg Mono/Poly). This is, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever written. I cannot do it justice with my playing, but I love it enough that I decided to try. To get a true sense of the piece I urge you to listen to Glenn Gould's 1981 recordings.

This is something I really like, the performance of timeless music played on modern instruments skillfully. It motivates me to learn to play music on my synth.
The elegant bloom on these patches really turns your performance into something sweet and unique. Lovely work.
Thanks!
Thank You. This is, indeed, one of the most Rock pieces ever. Especially when you sing it in your head. That is beyond everything, it will be modern forever. Thank you
Really nice! And yeah, Gould's is the best version. That guy was born to play Bach.
You don't hear too much of classical synthesized variations these days, good job. I specifically like the sound quality here, I have only done a few and have been working on another for some time, this reminds me to work on it some more.
Do it!!
a sequencer just can’t do this; your performance retains the organic -living- breathing quality of this music, thank you
Beautiful lighting, beautiful video and beautiful playing.
Fantastic! Gould is one of my favorites, too.
Bach is back
So beautiful, love hearing synth and 8 bit versions of Bach's music
Perfection. My favorite classical track of all time performed as if glen gould could play a synth. Thanks for this!
IMHO for a better experience listen at 1.25 speed. At 1.5 speed it sounds a little tense but nearer to more historically accurate performances.
At 2.0 speed it gets closer to Glenn Gould's 1955 recording speeds
@@alicewyan the best imo
Synthwaves compressed in time... my speaker found his master
Johann would love this for sure!
awesome, I love Bach and I love those 2 synthesizers
I’d love to hear more.
Very well done, my thanks.
Great choice of synthesizers for this piece.
Que maravilla! Gracias por compartir ✨
Nicely played, plus expressive sounds. Well done!
Beautifully done! Bravo! A testament to the timeless genius of JS Bach!
thank you!
Sounds good man. Mono/polys one of my favorite synths. Can't wait to get my hands on one
Wonderful!
Fantastic. More like this please.
Nicely done guy, please do more.
Omg the both thing that I love Bach and synth, very nicely interpretation 👌🏻
More of this please - wonderful and an inspiration for synth players
Beautiful performance it’s always nice to hear how musical others can be when you are expecting gear reviews and then this
Lovely
Wonderful ! thanks a lot.
Very nice ! You keep playing !
Your playing is so expressive! Great job!
So so beautiful. I love all that you're doing with your channel, and I hope you're having fun.
Yess
If Kubrick remade The Silence Of The Lambs...
Beautiful, esp. the smooth attack phases, and inspiring. * grabbing the Well-Tempered Clavir notes * :)
Thanks! Heh I'm starting to get into the WTC recently, trying to learn the C minor fugue from the first book. The more I dig into Bach the more my mind gets blown. I just can't imagine someone coming up with so much good material!
Inspiring!
Very nice ! Beautifully played indeed. I especially liked your emotional involvement with this performance. It looked like the synths were extensions of your soul. That's ART !
Thanks!
Amazing!
Beautifully played !
Bach man! Make that Moog sing brother. Walter / Wendy would be proud 👽✌🏻✌🏻🎶🎶🎶🐕🐕Peace Christo
You know it’s true! Peace Christo 👽
Really appreciated this my friend!
lovely.
thanks!
To me this becomes a more emotional experience than the perfect recordings of the virtuous works we have heard so many times. (Maybe to many to really enjoy?) Anyway, I really like the imperfections of the sounds from these synths when attempting to mimic orchestral instruments. this together with the sensitivity, insight and empathy of this performance makes it so human, fragile and existential. My only regret is the abrupt ending.
Thanks Jonas.
Beautiful!
Fantastic! Txs.
Beautiful! (And strangely enough I just listened to Gould’s Goldberg variations - what a coincident...)
Nice and elegance.
Lovely!
Bach is the best
still coming back here :p
Really beautiful work sir.
thank you!
Bach sounds good at any tempo
Sooo good
The way you play reminds me of Glenn Gould.
Yeah man, put yourself out there beyond the gear! Keep it up!
Takes me Bach, this the first song I learned (and I learned it on a synth )
God dammit, Barb!
I can’t Handel that pun
T O O S l o w
Holy shit that's nice. ❤️
Wow
Have you restored Glenn Gould's chair? 😊
bro, this is awesome! pls play more bach :-)
Thanks! Will try.
The spirit of Wendy Carlos whispers words of approval....(bruvva)
HOLY HELL PLEASE DO VARIATION 1 PLEASE!
Btw, great job.
thanks! lol I'm not sure I could pull it off with synths, I can barely play it on piano. Maybe one day...
Haha, I understand, you can make it look easy while it isn't necessarily like that, keep it up and good luck with all your future projects.
Beautiful piece of music. This is better than hearing guys with a room full of gears making bleep sounds
Beautiful! Really enjoying this spate of uploads.
Do you think you'd do a video with the MonoPoly? Like one of those videos you did a while back where all the sounds were SH-101 and it was split screen?
Or have you got other plans?
Thanks! I definitely want to do some M/P vids, it's on my (growing) TODO list for sure, but I've also got a bunch of other stuff planned so it's only a matter of time.
@@onceuponasynth Cool! Look forward to seeing that some time further down the road.
Hi, very nice playing.
Although I'm also a synth lover, I'm not sure if it's better suited to playing the piano, as it was intended.
It's a very fragile piece.
But such tries are always interesting. I'd very like if you try some of the variations.
👏🏼
music Leon Theremin would have been very proud to hear realized
Beautiful! :) Lovely sound out of the Grandmother! If you don't mind me asking, what reverb did you use?
Thanks! ValhallaDSP Room (plugin).
Thanks for replying!
Dude!
How do you feel the Grandmother compares to the Minimoog in tone? I have yet to play a Grandmother, but I do have a mini
Got both, only just received my GM. I've found the Mini to be more aggressive than the GM, probably due to to the filter always being slightly overdriven on the Mini. However the mixer on the GM is capable of some really nice overdriven sounds. You can get them to sound similar, but they don't overlap. They compliment each other very well!
Thanks for the info. Do you happen to have a Mother-32? If so, do you find they share the same tone? I have a Mother-32 and worry the tone is going to overlap a bit too much.
@@ronnieaux5290 I don't, but from what I've read (and heard) the GM and 32 are completely different in architecture. The GM is based on old modular circuits from the 60's and has oscillators based on the Minimoog, whereas the 32 is built around more modern designs. It depends on what sounds you're going for really.
👍👍
What stand are you using?
I honestly can't remember the name, I bought it over 10 years ago. The only thing written on it is a sticker with the word "Supra", but I can't find any info online lol. But to be honest I wouldn't necessarily recommend it because the top tier doesn't tilt, it's always parallel to the first tier, which isn't super great when playing.
Would be nice to hear the variations
heh maybe one day. No. 25 would be nice.
Switched on Bach! ruclips.net/video/Fbh1mPE7lN4/видео.html
Is this the piece that Hannibal Lecter murdered those two cops to?
i wonder how many people clicked this vid looking for a lit up new roland with a flashy green stripe?
The lushness of the synthesizers remind me of string instruments (see ruclips.net/video/5X7a997aWeY/видео.html). I read somewhere that Bach desired to hear his pieces played in all possible manners, with all possible arrangements; so this doesn't strike me at all as blasphemous or something like that. Where is the invisible line in musical technological innovation, anyway? :)
