I love your list style! I usually do it by day so I spend a lot of time rewriting unfinished tasks on other days. This system is simple and looks like it will help me better. Thank you!
This is somewhat like "bullet journaling" but this is much easier because a lot of people use symbols with their bullet journaling and that is just way more work I think. Thanks for sharing Becky! PS...I agree about crossing off items you've done with the thick sharpie....there is something great about crossing off items to make you feel like you've got something accomplished!!!
Made perfect sense the simplicity is awesome. Thanks. I was kinda afraid to watch because let's face it now don't everyone yell at me some list makers can get very serious and complicated. Great job btw 😊. This was a walk in the park
I have tried so many planners and have wondered what was wrong with me as none of them worked. I felt like I was going around in circles. Your list works and thanks so much for sharing.
I've always left all the pages in my book. Some weird thing in my brain that makes me think I'll ever look at them again or something. Not that I've ever done that - not even once. I like the idea of just ripping it out and moving forward. Less visual clutter and a "fresh start" on a new task list.
This is exactly the method that works for me! I've tried so many planner types but I always come back to this simple checklist. The only thing I do differently is I list day-specific appointments at the very top of the page.
I use the exact same pen. Fine point is a must for me, too. I also use the sharpie and some type of highlighter as well. I am addicted to marking things off my "To Do" list, sense of accomplishment. I need to try your technique.
That pentel pen in my favorite pen ever! I make list's ever single day for work and home and I have to have that pen lol! When I do my grocery shopping I usually go to three different stores, so when I write my list I use three different color highlighter to highlight what I need at each store so everything Walmart will be highlighted in blue, everything from the actual grocery store would be in pink and so on! I basically do the same thing with rewriting my list I call it my rough draft and my final draft lol some people make fun of me but I love it and it gives me peace of mind!
For grocery shopping in different stores I use a free app called "List Ease" it's a terrific app on any smart phone or tablet. AND it synchronizes between my tablets and my I phone. So if I remind myself that I forgot something and I do it on my tablet it will show up on my I phone when I go shopping
@@hasamod41 I've tried using my phone for grocery list but it seems like when I got one hand pushing my card one hand trying to pick up groceries it's difficult to look at and cross off a list on the phone makes it easier to drop if you have any techniques please share.
Thank you for sharing. :) I do the same thing for work on the right-hand side of the page and use the left-hand side of the page to use for meeting notes.
Great ideas. I use small notebooks for notes too and I use several throughout the year. I started using erasable pens and they've become my staple. I love your idea of personal notes on the bottom of the list vs work related. Very helpful tips.
I like your vibe! lol random, i know - a little quarantine love - esp when there's so much crazyness going on right now lol i'm excited about my to do list 🤓
Great minds think alike!! I use the SAME method you do!!! Except I keep mine in my planner. Literally, the highlighting technique was a HUGE game changer for me. I also highlight things I need to do or important points when I am making notes in meetings and I also transfer those to my 'to do' list. SO much easier than trying to go through ALL of my notes all at once.
Thanks for sharing Becky. I tend to keep sort lists but I like the idea of being able to see the big picture and then moving the left over tasks into a new list. Very inspiring :)
Hi, this is a great method. Think it would help so many who get overwhelmed looking at long lists. By highlighting it gets narrowed down.Interested to maybe see how you do goals and planning. Cheers
I have Todoist and Evernote and we can't argue the advantage of the numeric world compared to the analog one but there is absolutely no substitute in the numeric world for the physical connection we have when writing with pen and paper. Ok, you can use a Remarkable device where the feeling is near the one with a real pen but this device costs a lot of money. I love your approach because it's simple in one way but in another, it's perfect for the vast majority of things to do. I don't think it's good for recurring tasks or tasks that should be done at a specific date or time because there is no substitute in the analog world of a phone remembering me to do something. But for the focus, reflective and intentional aspect, your method is perfect in its simplicity.
May have commented before as remember seeing this video. I have a very similar way of doing my to do list but added the black sharpie after watching your video. I add the tick in the box as that just feels good :). Great video, thanks.
Omg ! This was sooo helpful ! I’ve been looking and trying all types of ways to remember and take track ... but I like this the most ! Thank you so much ! 🙌🏻
Interesting method. TFS! For those who want to keep & read your done tasks-- you don't have to use a thick Sharpie. You can use a regular or micro tip pen so it doesn't completely cover the writing. You can also alter the method slightly: -- Instead of highlighting the whole line, put a circle or box using HLer at the BEGINNING of the line to designate priority. -- Check or cross off on top of HLer mark when task is completed. This will help w the aesthetics if you're concerned w the cluttered look of your pages once you strike the items out. -- save pages if desired. This method is kinda similar to the AutoFocus method created by Mark Forster. There are a couple of vids on YT showing the method. For more info google him & his site.
Cool, I understood what you said, and I can't wait to try it out tomorrow!🎉❤ What do you do with the notebook you used up with to-do lists? 🤔 I wouldn't know what to do with them.
love the ideas! they seem so obvious, yet i had never considered bold crossing...! lol... i usually have two different sheets for family and work-related to do's. seems cleaner to my virgo brain. and now i shall run to the store for some black bold tipped pen.
Those tiny boxes can be put to good use; of those highlighted in yellow are the most important one's on the list. But which one is more important (has to be done first?). That's where the tiny boxes come into play. You put a 1 in the tiny box that has to be done first, and a 2 on the 2nd most important task and so on...but you do this only on the highlighted tasks.
I am absolutely loving the simplicity of your technique but kindly explain why you need to have the list moving upwards? Also what do you do with tasks that need to be done every day such as cleaning, kids lunches etc.?
it's really nice, but one caveat. I was to be able to review what I've done this past week, or this past month. The best wayt to do that is to look over old to-do lists. But if you scratch them out completely, they are not readable.
Can you give me the rationale for throwing away the old sheets? Neatness? I guess I like seeing the crossed-off items; makes me feel like I've accomplished something. I find I have several notebooks going at one time. Time to consolidate!
Can someone please, please tell me how you use it in conjunction with a planner. Do you use a planner along with this and have two different books you're carrying around or do you just use a list only? I'm just wondering because it's enough to just use one book but then when I have to remember to look in two it just seems like a lot of trouble so I'd like your input as to how this works.
Hi. I don't use this method exactly but i see no reason why you can't use this in your regular planner-- other than if you have a lot of tasks & the lists take up too much room. If you have a pre-printed planner (not a Bullet Journal/notebook) that you can't add pages to, you can use a temporary page like a large POST IT NOTE & move it from day to day. You can also tear a page from another notebook & hold it in your planner using washi tape. Your choice if you want to keep the pages or throw them out like Becky. Some ppl use small notebook inserts & hold them together with a band inside a cover (Traveler's Notebook). Lots of vids on YT showing this method. Hope this helps.

I found this refreshingly simple and likely to be effective for others. Thank you for sharing!
Oh my goodness! This is the best method I have seen! So simple and easy to maintain. Thank you for sharing and I’ll be using this method from now on!

Me too
Great tips

Great idea. Our brains are all different so we need to tweak accordingly.

This is so great and thought provoking. Maybe one day I can get to a place where I'm ready and able to do something this organized and useful
This was so simple and effective! I'm going to give this a go. Thank you

I really like how you use the highlighter to mark today’s must do items. :)
Great tips Becky! I love how visual your sharpie and highlighting is.
That made perfect sense, fantastic. I'm going to do that. Getting me motivated. Thanks.
Thank you Becky!
Great Idea just plain simple nothing fancy. Thank You for sharing.
Thank you this was so helpful!

Absolutely love this and I understand it. So I'm going to try your way.
Hi Becky! This video was very helpful. Thank you! I don't see where you said what kind of notepads you order. Would love to know! Thanks!
Thanks for sharing! Happy New Year!
Becky with the good hair
This is great technique, thank you for sharing!
That was awesome, thanks
Thanks for sharing. Will you do a video on how you take notes?
That is a great idea. I use my phone for lists too.
Great tip!!! Thank you!!!
This is a great system!

I just put a check beside the completed task.
Ooh that makes so much sense, but I'd use the check-boxes rather than the Sharpie.
Cool method!
I like the list but I use the Penni red, black and blue color
Brilliant, tysm 💖
Love it.
Can you give me the rationale for throwing away the old sheets? Neatness? I guess I like seeing the crossed-off items; makes me feel like I've accomplished something. I find I have several notebooks going at one time. Time to consolidate!
It's similar to what I do but I have more detail which I'm going to get rid of since watching your video. Simple is best :).
Well done. Thank you!
Brilliant I’m doing this 👍 thanks 🙏
Omg i been doing same thing for years!
thank you
Awesome this one is best one how you mark when done that I searching and found your video.
have you tried taskade.com .? any advice?

I use "List Ease" for grocery shopping it's a free app
I use a paper
Thank you so much for sharing - love lists: they keep me on track!
Great.
Thank you! That'll help ! (Y)

What is with the focus going in and out so much?
I don't like crude yellow. Permission to use lavender?😂😂😂😂
Ok but feels like when I read the headline like Becky Lynch chanel
