That's an excellent idea. I am making a rucksack (bag) with the minimum amount of weight. I can just pack the blade knowing that I can MAKE the rest in the woods when I am settled in my camp.

How long is the handle roughly? Just trying to get a rough idea. Looks about 16 to 20 inches but I could be way out 😄

Hey Walter, excellent explanation of adze tool construction. I’m gonna make one. Saw a guy carving a totem pole in Victoria BC years ago with something similar. He said they made a type of glue to attach the blade… do you know anything about how they might have made a glue? Also loved your 1 hr bow video, I’m a 60 yr. Old craftsman and you taught me new stuff. Big thanks! Would love to see a carved bowl demo if you ever get a chance.

use pine sap, heat it up to liquid form, do not get boiling hot, and mix in some charcoal powder, mix until black, coat stick in the pitch and let cool until solid, when needed you heat the pitch on the stick up until its a liquid again and you can apply it

I used a nearly identical design for a hide scraper, but didn't think of putting notches on the side of the blade to hold the lashing better. That's a great tip!
