I'm glad Brad was never able to see how I did my hair as a teenager. I can almost guarantee he'd have a heart attack. No sections, always started at the top on my roots, 40 volume bleach, no gloves for bleaching or coloring, used Clorox bleach on my skin to get the color out.
I did this a few years back and had absolutely no idea what I was doing. Was an adventure for sure. It's super hard to keep it "red", so I used "colorista" pretty frequently. That helped.
I loved dying my hair red when i was younger. It was the most flattering color i tried thru the years imo... but you're right that it fades so fast! Was my least fave part about it.
i used colorista once too and it stained my bath and shower curtain the red was really pretty but it faded over time, however it was still present in my hair (it was really visible in the camera) although it sounds like a disaster it was kinda fun, the color was quite strong for a semi permanent dye
I dont know why but with me takes a lot of time to fade lol I don't have that issue, I usually just need to tone it at every 3 or 4 months lol I guess I'm lucky
I did this the other week! Went from green to red and it went quite well, though these days it is hard to do anything to your hair without thinking how Brad would judge you in that moment 😂
Blue or green to red (and vice versa) is SO tricky, I'm so glad it worked out!! A moment of silence for all the people who got strange brown patches going on that same journey 🙏
Yea I never understand why people wear certain colors or clothing when bleaching and coloring hair. Like wear something already trashed or at least a cape. Lol
I was going to say maybe she’s a Leo, but I know nothing about astrology 😂 nor do I think it has any major influence on what people to do lol (or maybe just a liiittle bit)
I’ve had my hair colored red for over 10 years now and I’ve never used straight up bleach on my hair. Your hair has to have some kind of warmth for the red dye molecules to hold on to. So bleaching super blonde doesn’t necessarily help when it comes to the color lasting super long. People are always surprised when I say I only dye my hair about every month and a half to two months cause my color stays pretty vibrant up until I redye it. I wash my hair about 2 - 3 times a week using luke warm water. My hairs naturally pretty dark. I recommend using a high lift color all over but only for the first time you color it red. I know a lot of people like the L’Oréal high color but that dries my hair out and doesn’t last long at all. I use the Affinage b:red line and it’s fabulous. But ladies and gents do not use a high lift color all over your head every time you color!!! I see it on TikTok all the time and it drives me crazy. When you layer high lift color on top of high lift color over and over it will begin to lift itself out of your hair and in turn lighten your natural hair color. Making it fade out super light. So after the first time using it all over all you do is use the high lift on your roots and a semi or demi permanent red for the lengths of your hair and you’ll be set.
I've had nothing but fashion colours for the last 7 years and people are also equally shocked when I say that I get it touched up every 6-7 weeks (and sometimes we just do the regrowth). They always tell me that whenever they've done a bright colour it fades in a week, to which I have 3 questions in response: 1) how often do you wash it? Should be every 3-4 days at most. 2) do you use cool water? 3) do you use paraben and sulfate free products? They always answer: every day, hot water, cheap products with sulfates. Well, that's why your colour doesn't last! Colours are easy to maintain if you treat them properly!
@@carr0760 This is the advice I follow too! I've had fashion colors for years, as have my kids. My girls had blue hair and the first thing I told them after we dyed it was "only wash 3x a week in cool water or this is gonna fade in a week and I'm not redoing it." 😅 I'll give them credit, they listened to me and their hair stayed blue for months until we switched to other colors (we already have good shampoos/conditioners from me dying my hair so they were set). My red just now is starting to fade but I haven't touched it for 3 months, so time to redo it I guess lol.
Awesome advice! Every other week I think of grabbing a box color again but I don't what to do. I loved having red hair over the years but now I am high % grey. But it's not looking cool haha I thought I would like it but no starting to hate it
I'm going to a salon today for my first ever feminine haircut, two years after coming out as trans. Thank you Brad, because without your videos I wouldn't even know what to ask for!
I just got my hair completely ruined at a salon so I'm watching this to try and feel a bit better. I wanted my usual bright red that I get with manic panic vampire red but this time the salon insisted that they could get the same result with the salon dyes and I trusted them. (big mistake) First it came out way too pinkish and when I expressed my concerns they tried to fix it but then it came out a really dark red. The worst part was that I asked for half of my hair to be red but they bleached so far up that the red is almost touching my roots. They offered to fix it the next day but the amount of times they've played with my hair makes me worried that it might break or start falling out so now I'm stuck with a color I didn't want for god knows how long and I have no clue how to fix it...
Not sure if its still there now, but if you use the color wheel to get the red out it’ll work. Try to section out when you do it so like every 2-3 days try a different color to cancel out the red before trying to get a different color to get it out before going back to the original hair color you wanted. Not a hair stylist but this worked for me! ^^
I bleached my boyfriend's dark hair with Wella lightener and Salon Care 30 volume and it turned out great. Thank you Brad for testing out those Sally bleaches, so I knew which was best. His hair lifted super well and was still very soft afterwards. I did 40 minutes with foil on mids and ends and went back in with roots the last 20 minutes. It was very yellow as expected, but I put blue on it, so it worked great.
I just did the opposite. Natural red to blonde. Small sections, heavy saturation, and I have an even blonde. Waiting for my super purple to arrive, and I'm excited! I finally work somewhere that doesn't see colored hair as unprofessional.
Dear Brad, I just discovered you and I have binged you for constantly for the last two days! I love how you are so happy for the girls when they succeed. You're a sweetheart.
Hey Brad! I just want to tell you that you are such a beautiful soul. I suffer from depression and at the peak of my disorder, watching your videos was the only thing that put a smile on my face. Thank you 🤍🤍
People are so brave! Omg once when I was about 15, I did my roots since mom was out of town and I didn’t want to wait for her return. Obviously the roots came out really yellow. I went to a pretty top rated salon to fix it. Tell me why the lady BLEACHED my whole head (over platinum pieces as well that didn’t need it!). I now know all I needed was a toner so this is super irritating 😠 my hair was so damaged. $200 dollars later and I still had yellow but I gained a lot of damage 🤦🏼♀️
We live in the age of information. If you're patient and smart, you can achieve whatever you want. I waited, did my research, and I went from black to platinum in my first try effortlessly. I'm male so I have less hair, but it really didn't seem as hard as everyone makes it to be.
EVERY time I binge on Brad I somehow end up with a cart full of hair dye/bleach and have to talk myself down 🤣 my hair goes to my pant line, there is NO universe where an at home job goes well for me 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I bleached the ends of my hair and did an ombre with red dye. It worked perfectly but I did also use a red toner for upkeep. I couldn't imagine doing it as a full head colour!
Really saturated red and straight black are two great options for covering a lot of coloring mistakes IMO. I'm not surprised the last girl's hair came out looking even because that dye was waaaay more saturated than what would be required to cancel out what little green and purple was left in her hair.
I recently went red to blonde and I was TERRIFIED of messing it up, but I watched a ton of Brad's videos beforehand to hear his advice and it went so, so well! :)
Hola, Brad! I've been watching your reaction videos through the pandemic from Venezuela. And I love it and you. I've learned a lot from you and from people's mistakes and although I have bleached my hair a couple of times in these past two years, thanks to you I still have hair, which my sisters believe is odd since I've changed my hair color from green to blue, gray, pink, purple and then to dark blue and red. Thanks to you I know not to use box dye hair color, and apply lots of bleach when I'm bleaching my hair while remembering your wise words "Bleach doesn't lather". Also, everytime I dye my hair, my mind immediately goes "I'm sorry Brad Mondo". Another plus, your videos help me practice my english, which I try to do often. It's very entertaining to watch your reactions since you're always kind to everyone even when they are messing their hair and also witty and funny. Thank you so much for your advise, I try to remember often to live my extra life!!!
I’m using directions semi-permanents as the last girl did for over a decade and the outcome is so amazing for all the more medium and dark color tones of this brand. My hair looked pretty even and all the same color even thought I had a lot of different tones and colors after bleaching going on so many times. At least it worked for me and the girl on the video.
For anyone who might be interested - Keracolour has really good cleansing conditioners which are colored, so you can dye your hair without drying it out, and its super easy to keep it from fading since you can wash your hair with it in between! :)
Honestly, I feel like it's hard to mess up going from dark colour to red. It's basically guaranteed to turn that brassy colour, and putting red over it works just fine. I think it'd be an issue if a *true* bleach blond tried it.
red, orange and pink *really* hide all your sins when you're bleaching yourself from a dark colour. Especially deeper tones of it, it just covers up any darker or lighter spots.
I have bright red hair, for years I bleached and then dyed it red and it would fade super quick and getting the roots to match with that process was a nightmare and damaged my hair so so much. After watching brads videos I opted to try proper professional dye at home, 50/50 Majicontrast Rouge and Majicontrast magenta with 30% and its perfect bright red EVERYTIME in that 1 step, also never fades to that light red, it just doesn't look as vibrant when its "faded". It is such a massive game changer and saves so much time/energy and the fade is better by far.
Just ordered MORE super red last night. IM OBSESSED. Honestly my new go to color for my red hair. I mix the red and orange in equal parts and add a tiny bit of purple to darken it. IN LOVE. Thank you Brad for such a great product
brad, we NEED a video on surface painting the hair. i feel like HOW DOES THAT LOOK GOOD when people do it? i’ve seen you do it and it looks great, it looks fun and easy, but in reality i’m worried about it being spotty and bleeding through. is it all in the thickness of the bleach to not bleed through? i just feel like there’s some holes in that explanation and possibly in the hair🫠 and i need an in depth explanation please and thank you
Brad, you’re literally my whole happiness today. My mom was evacuated from her home here in Canada because of the wildfires and watching your videos is helping me feel better. Thank u for being so bright and fun to watch.
I used to have a bright red hair when I was in highschool, but I actually went to have my hair bleached in a salon, and then bought the brightest red dye I could find to dye it at home. I lived in the muddle of nowhere, it was the late 90s, and I had to take a bus to the nearest city, find the store which was like walking into a rave with flashing lights, smiley face earrings and neon everything. I bought the dye, took a bus back to hicksville, and went to school the next day looking pretty awesome, actually. They were such good times, and I feel I used the salon expertice for the most important part of the process, adding the dye, which didn't have developer, was a breeze. I was a very sensible rebel. 😃
One good thing about premature grays is that you can try out bold colors without bleach. I was a deep saturated red for a year or so, and then I switched back to a more natural color. The upkeep was a lot more work, and sometimes my shower looked like a crime scene. It was fun, but I probably won't do that again. Semi-permanent color products were my best friend, but I used a permanent level 4 red dye every month on my roots so the semi-permanent color had a base. Fun times.
My oldest kid ended up with a serious chemical burn from a local hairstylist when they bleached their hair six or seven years ago (the scarring is still terrible). Kid even had to force the stylist to wash it out within two or three minutes. Because both kid and I have very neutral skin on our scalps (not oily/not dry) that is also extremely fair, we’ve found that thoroughly applying coconut oil to the scalp prior to bleaching is a must, we just don’t produce enough oil to protect it. I will say that beyond that, thanks to Brad I have become quite proficient at bleaching kids hair whenever they need it done.
The fact that I midlife crisis'd last night and tried this and NOW Brad chose to shed some knowledge 🤦🏽♀️ All I can say is thank God for curly hair. My curls are hiding everything lol
I thought my ex sister-in-law was a natural redhead until I finally saw an old photograph. It looks so incredibly natural on her. To the point where I gave her an emerald necklace thinking she was a redhead
You can't really go wrong with red. I have always dyed my hair red and all i can say, its easy. Its the only color thats easy to apply. Its nice color with purple too
I don't understand how you always upload a video on the exact color that I want to dye my hair! First it was a black brown to jet black, now I'm going to be venturing on to my faded black to red on my bangs and new black everywhere else. I swear you have a magic power, Brad!
So, storytime, the very first time I ever dyed my hair I used red box dye. Specifically the Olia line, and it turned out sooo bad the first time that I put my hair in the tightest ponytail I could go try and hide it, did another round of the box dye the next day with my mom helping because she thought I had missed spots and that's why it turned out so patchy. Did not help. I was like, near in tears it looked so terrible and we went to the local fantastic sams and my mom spent like, 200 dollars to do a color correction. Which maybe doesn't sound like that much to y'all but is still the most expensive hair service I've ever received.
Brad is like a concerned dad who has accepted that his kids are going to go out and have seggs, and as we’re heading out the door with our sketchy boyfriend Quickblu, he tells us “I’m glad you’re taking some precautions, that is all I can ever ask for.” Thank you for looking out for us Brad Dad! 😄💖
I'm a 63 year old woman and love your videos. You'r so funny sometimes and put a smile on peoples faces in this sad and crazy world. Keep up the good work and you'r a brilliant hairdresser. Love to all xhugx
I did this and it turned out amazing! I've since gone back to being a brunnette though as I feel natural is better and I was sick of redoing my roots and having red dye stain the shower tiles.
I live for your critique! It’s why I like watching your videos. I like to learn before I try for myself. Thank you Brad! You help me live my extra life💕
I was blonde naturally and went red really easy with Garnier r3 intense red for dark hair-- yes Brad I used a box dye. But HOLY SMOKES my hair turned little mermaid ariel red after. The dye whilst curing turned carrot top orange and scared the crap out of me, good memories cause my dad said he'd go buy me more dye if I turned into a carrot. Kept that color for 6 years, and then when I wanted to get rid of it, it was a real pain in the butt to get rid of!! Beware of reds x.x I had to nearly cut all my hair off and let it grow out cause it budged for nothing.
Have you tried their R74 Scarlet Ronze shade? That's my go- to shade when dyeing my hair red. It's a bright bronze- red color-I have very dark hair naturally, and it works great.Even on mostly gray hair, it's good.My hubby always calls me Lucy when I use this color, because it's definitely a Lucille Ball shade of red!
"Not the no gloves" XD That made me laugh. Yes, that looks kind of tragic. Even with gloves my hands stain when I rinse the color out, but not that bad. yikes! It will eventually fade though...Great transformations overall!
You should react to Morgan Donner’s “I tried 500 years of hair styles” video, it’s a few months old now but she actually cuts her hair throughout and it’s so good
Dear my fellow dark haired beauty's. PUT DOWN THE BLEECH. If you want red hair and I mean bright red without damage. Get a simi permanent colour red, i used crazy colour and leave it on for 12 hours. It's an investment of time but I works. I did this once a month to keep it bright and it was perfect. My hair was as dark as my photo when a started.
I did this yesterday from platinum to auborn, very happy with the results and will stay this colour. I even gave myself a home hair cut while I was drunk and called my hairdresser the next day hoping she coult fix the cut. She looked at my hair and said I actually did a good job 😂😅 she only needed to alter it just a bit.
These are cautionary tales that teach us the value of a good hair stylist. It’s actually cheaper to have it done right in the first place by a professional than it is to have a pro fix your stupid mistakes. And leave a great tip.
I have red down to a science but it helps I'm already strawberry blonde lol but been doing red for 16 years (: Loreal hi lift is amazing becuase you really don't need to bleach, it has it, but I mean it depends on how dark your hair is too
You don’t need to bleach it because „high lift“ means that your hair is lifting while colouring at the same time. This is pretty hard for your hair to handle if you fresh up your hair length. I think „hi lift“ will probaly be the same thing. (I am not a native speaker so please don’t be so hard If I spell something wrong 😅)
Yes! I’ve had red for 2 years and I use the loreal hicolor highlights. It’s awesome, does everything in one step, and freshening up the mid-ends with a semi permanent keeps it looking perfect!
I watched so many of these videos during the early part of the pandemic. Then I stopped and haven’t in a while. I remember why I loved these so much lol. Love Brad’s advice and tips

My hair looked pretty even and all the same color even thought I had a lot of different tones and colors after bleaching going on so many times. At least it worked for me and the girl on the video.
Don't waste ur money on directions. It's just dye and conditioner, u can buy dye drops far cheaper u can add to ur own conditioner of choice
Same with brads hair dye, it's just color drops and conditioner u can save money by cutting out the middle man and just buying the dye drops
For anyone who might be interested - Keracolour has really good cleansing conditioners which are colored, so you can dye your hair without drying it out, and its super easy to keep it from fading since you can wash your hair with it in between! :)
Or just mix conditioner with semi permanent dye
Honestly, I feel like it's hard to mess up going from dark colour to red. It's basically guaranteed to turn that brassy colour, and putting red over it works just fine. I think it'd be an issue if a *true* bleach blond tried it.
red, orange and pink *really* hide all your sins when you're bleaching yourself from a dark colour. Especially deeper tones of it, it just covers up any darker or lighter spots.
@@estherstreet4582 Yep. I love it.
Brad is starting to look like princess Di and I'm living for it
Okay before i go through the entire video i just have to say that your hair is beautiful
Just ordered MORE super red last night. IM OBSESSED. Honestly my new go to color for my red hair. I mix the red and orange in equal parts and add a tiny bit of purple to darken it. IN LOVE. Thank you Brad for such a great product
brad, we NEED a video on surface painting the hair. i feel like HOW DOES THAT LOOK GOOD when people do it? i’ve seen you do it and it looks great, it looks fun and easy, but in reality i’m worried about it being spotty and bleeding through. is it all in the thickness of the bleach to not bleed through? i just feel like there’s some holes in that explanation and possibly in the hair🫠 and i need an in depth explanation please and thank you
Love Brad’s blond longer hair! He’s so gorgeous. Now he’s accenting his beautiful eyes!
I love how she’s saying her hair feels like it’s about to fall off and Brad’s all “that’s bad” as he checks his self out in the camera 😂
Brad, you’re literally my whole happiness today. My mom was evacuated from her home here in Canada because of the wildfires and watching your videos is helping me feel better. Thank u for being so bright and fun to watch.
can we talk about how Brad is a fashion icon™️
I regularly go blonde to red and back. Love it!
That second girl looks amazing! That color really suits her skin color!
3rd color is amazing too! So vibrant
Loves these reaction videos secretly always waiting for disaster 😳 love watching Brad do his thing xxx
I love red hair, thank you for blessing us with this video.
The fact that I midlife crisis'd last night and tried this and NOW Brad chose to shed some knowledge 🤦🏽♀️
All I can say is thank God for curly hair. My curls are hiding everything lol
reaction videos are just what i need after waking up in the morning
I'm also obsessed with it. Everytime brad uploads new videos, I get so excited. Always learning something new...
ok ngl when they do their makeup its like ahhhhh stunnninggg
“Hey beautiful “ thanks for always making us feel good, luv u Brad ❤️
I thought my ex sister-in-law was a natural redhead until I finally saw an old photograph. It looks so incredibly natural on her. To the point where I gave her an emerald necklace thinking she was a redhead
My mental health rn is so bad and I have the worst stomach pains. I needed a distraction rn, thanks Brad for making me laugh 😂
im just binging brad's videos at 4am because i cant sleep
You can't really go wrong with red. I have always dyed my hair red and all i can say, its easy. Its the only color thats easy to apply. Its nice color with purple too
I think so too. Any fail I had in the past was always rescued with red as well 😅 hides a lot of sins
Boxed red is terrible to get out tho to go blonde or ash
@@Bunny11344 I usually wait until it fades. Then bleach it.
Which maybe doesn't sound like that much to y'all but is still the most expensive hair service I've ever received.
second girl with the orange hair after bleaching it was EVERYTHING!! That orange suited her so gooddddd
Rubee💜💜 i loved her since vine days ❤💯
Brads reaction is so funny lmao😭but red hair is actually cute like wha 😍
brads a KING and also his hair is *chefs kiss*
"Not the no gloves" XD That made me laugh. Yes, that looks kind of tragic. Even with gloves my hands stain when I rinse the color out, but not that bad. yikes! It will eventually fade though...Great transformations overall!
I was rewatching your videos right now and you’ve uploaded a new one! We stan our king!
Brad’s denim jacket reminds me of the cropped jacket I had in 2005😂❤
I've been watching you for a minute (years) and I can confidently say this is YOUR HAIRSTYLE!! IT SUITS YOU SO DAMN MUCH!
You should react to Morgan Donner’s “I tried 500 years of hair styles” video, it’s a few months old now but she actually cuts her hair throughout and it’s so good
Probably so irrelevant, but the 'hi beautiful' makes me blush everytime and makes me feel so good inside 🥰 your energy is contagious xx
This is giving me middle school flashbacks. My 13yr old butt went from bleach blonde to "red"
Turns out red + yellow = Pennywise orange. Who knew!
I love seeing more redheads in the world!
@@Sugar_Demon that’s not what they meant.
How long did it last?
I love this outfit Brad is wearing, so fresh but so classic at the same time
keep making these reaction videos!! they are so funny 💀
I actually did notice a difference using coconut oil and not using it when I would bleach my hair. I used it to protect my baby hairs.
That second woman looked GORGEOUS ! The color was perfect for her.
Dying her hair in a white hoodie gave me extreme anxiety 😅
Brad your look today is giving early 2010s heatherette and I'm here for it
These are cautionary tales that teach us the value of a good hair stylist. It’s actually cheaper to have it done right in the first place by a professional than it is to have a pro fix your stupid mistakes. And leave a great tip.
Yes it is.
When brad was saying dark repeatedly ( 13:32 ), it almost sounded like a sea lion 🦭 going “arf arf arf, red.. fantastic” 😂 ~all love~
I have red down to a science but it helps I'm already strawberry blonde lol but been doing red for 16 years (: Loreal hi lift is amazing becuase you really don't need to bleach, it has it, but I mean it depends on how dark your hair is too
It’s my favourite red dye too
You don’t need to bleach it because „high lift“ means that your hair is lifting while colouring at the same time.
I love that dye! It's literally the only red dye i use to color my hair!!
@@lisaschmitz6232 and it has a little bleach in it that’s why your hair lifts
i loved the last girl hair BEFORE the bleach. such a unique combo
Brad got replaced with 2000s era Aaron Carter 😂
It's a cute look on you tho ☺️
👍😁
I dig the way your hair has grown out, Brad!
*Brad:* "my standards are low for this one"
*Also Brad:* "I'm expecting a lot"
YOUR HAIR LOOKS SO GOOD BRAD OMFG
I watched so many of these videos during the early part of the pandemic. Then I stopped and haven’t in a while. I remember why I loved these so much lol. Love Brad’s advice and tips
we’re all living for the grow-out phase of your hair
them: im gonna section my hair
Brad: oh my gosh that is all ive ever wanted
Brad rocking the balero denim jacket and I’m living for it!!
I used to love being a red head…until I had a reaction to the red dye and lost a bunch of my hair…now I’m all natural and honestly it’s so much easier
Hello, have a good day and thank you for the videos I’ve been watching for 4 years
Oh god no, dying it red and then trying to get it out can be IMPOSSIBLE, believe me I’ve tried. It took me ages, I had to grow it out in the end
Went from pink to orange to platinum blonde over 6 months after many failed bleach attempts 😭
Yeah when I did red I ended up covering it with black. It still kind of showed through.
@@DelusionalAngel I did like a purply red and I tried to cover it with brown but it just made it look like a mahogany colour instead
I have caught up the videos. So now I get to watch as the come out. I love these red headed queenz!
Nothing says “idgaf” like that girl applying RED hair dye while wearing a white hoodie
Does anyone think the first girl looks like Naomi Smalls? And that is meant in the absolute best possible way! Because she is stun! 👌🏼💖🥰
Loving the 2000's boy blond hair Brad, always keeping us on our toes with your looks :)
Living for this outfit Brad. Yes yes yes. Well done.
i’ve wanted to dye my really dark hair to red for a while and this is just convincing me more 😭
Red especially a deep dark red is the easiest colour change to achieve at home imho.
I find light blue to be the hardest, then an even baby pink.
The second girl’s bleached hair alone is a vibe, it’s a style on its own😻
