The next Playstation portal should be Vita 2 or something portable that can operate without Wifi and have a SD card slot and I agree all the things mentioned in this video such as bluetooth, latest wifi and OLED screen and the Hall effect joysticks are a must- haves. And it looks like it will be out in 3 or 4 years time. Can't wait.
The only thing that I think it really needs is to not be a streaming only device. It needs to be able to play games negatively even if they’re just digital games from your library. I can’t seem to get my PlayStation portal to connect to my PlayStation five through a Wi-Fi hotspot from my phone and the whole reason I need this is for when I’m not at my house. If I’m at my house I have a PlayStation connected to a big beautiful 70 inch screen in two different rooms. I need it for when I’m in hotels every other week.
Good call, but would need a memory slot and obviously everything else to run the games but I don’t think I’d be prepared to buy a new portal even if it was miraculously affordable given that I barely play on my one and I have no connectivity issues. But realistically, you’re looking at costs not to dissimilar to a steam deck and with PS6 launching possibly in 2028/29, this won’t happen. So we’re better off with a portal that streams only because it would compatible with future console generations… I would expect at least
They need an automatic resolution and frame rate settings that switches when using the ps5 or portal so that you don't have to be switching resolution whenever using the ps5 or portal for a more stable connection.
I would like to have a rounded edge around the charge port and aux port also some light colour around them I'm having problems seeing it when it's dark, front firing speakers would be nice to, and I also like a combination where you push like a dedicated settings button and up and down on the left stick in order to change the brightness off the screen while you're playing, like you can do on the steam deck. I really like my portal 😊
I like almost all your suggestions I will say I don't care about streaming services at present but it should be possible, physical Media no but I agree that you should get a digital copy if you buy a disc version. Bluetooth definitely has to be there I bought the inears ones from playstation, my ears i can't hear the difference, and they have some features missing when you think about the price no anc, not waterproof if you want to use them as headphones for your phone, no touch. I have cheaper galaxy buds that are way better and cost less, the best case if anyone is wondering is the Spigen case the handle is just weird and it's the only case that I found where you can have the case for the headphones in, they also have a case for your unit so if you drop it that is also very good
The PS portal amazing and that’s coming from someone that usually games on an LG OLED, 4K, 120hz(when available). All you gotta do is follow a few steps to prep your internet for it and it works great. Blew my expectations out of the water. It’s so convenient and I get to play now while the TV is being used.
Imagine if it was a legit companion to your gaming console when you play the games on your regular TV it shows up the map or character info and data, game menus or anything other than just mirroring the screen I think that would be awesome. Better audio please, the speakers on it are pretty bad. Slightly brighter screen as well. It’s not too bad now but I think it could be a little brighter. At least compete with phone screen brightness please.
This sounds kind of like what the Wii U controller was like and it was a flop, I think things where devs need to make big changes to the game or basically a different game are not worth it for them these days as it would only work on this platform, as dev support would be key with any new hardware, definitely agree that brighter screen would be very good especially for using outdoors! What would be your number one feature you would like to see on a new portal?
@@purepsx I think it’s possible if they actually support it vs forgetting it’s there like the touchpad on the controller. It’s barely used for anything these days. Imagine looking down from your TV and getting everything expressed in my earlier comment. I know the Wi U failed but if done right, I think it could be a game changer but only if the devs do their jobs and support features like that. But as you say nowadays things like that probably won’t happen. Having an actual companion for the console would be my number one feature. I say it can happen if they do it right.
Honestly the brightness is more than enough, it killed my battery within 3 hours like an iPhone would die within two after being charged for 12. There's nothing wrong with the max sound volume.
@@Holy_Venom the brightness is ok but it could be better. The battery could get a spec bump as well because If they make it brighter why not put a better battery to compensate for the power drain. The speakers on it are trash, no mid or low information. Now I’m not talking bass but we need something we can hear and feel a little more. This is Sony we are talking about. They sort of specialize in sound. It’s clear they put together the cheapest components in order to get us the Portal when they themselves know that they could have given us a little more with this product. I bet they have a pro version lined up.
So the thing about the physical disc and also getting a digital copy with it is that you could return the physical disc or trade it in and still have your digital copy it would give them a massive loss in physical copies
Could make it that you need to “check in” on your ls5 system say once a week or something so it knows you still have it to use the digital token? I Duno just be some smarter way to do it
I definitely like the idea of some type of way for you to be woe to play physical copies on the portal without actually having the disk in maybe Sony could charge like an additional 3 to 5 dollars to have a digital version on the cloud just for your portal or ingenarel use this way you don't have to have your system on and a better way to use it to turn the system on other then having it in rest mode
Yeah I Duno how they would work the physical digital thing out tho, cuz say they just charged an extra 5 dollars but then people could just sell the physical copy so they have then got a new game for like 5 bucks? There needs to be something else so people can’t do that but I’m not sure what that would look like, really would be cool if they could sort it tho!
@purepsx I didn't think of that one yeah they would lose a lot of money on that one and it's hard to register a serial number to play on one system cause then there would be no trade in system hopefully they can make something work out
PS need to have the decency to introduce PS Cloud for such a device. Love using Xbox Gamepass Remote out and about, so easy. Dont need to leave my xbox at home in remote mode either, I just game from the cloud.
I think this is something they may look at in the future one console sales are saturated as I think they won’t just now to protect console sales as they are doing so well unlike Xbox which is just opening up to everything due to their console sales being so poor (I’m not hating I also have a series S and X and love them!) I just think this is a business thing right now
I'm more excited about the next generation pc like xbox than the next generation ps as its currently on track. Steam, xbox, potentionally geforce now, (which they'd have to do away the deal with amd) on one next generation console. Now the remote device for that is what I'm truly excited about. The steam deck isn't floating my boat so much, I hoped the portal would be more, but between the gateway 2.4/5 limitations and mobile hotspots running nat3, it's alot of work. I hold hope but I think Sony need to freshly recalibrate and have an exact picture of what's next. Same for microsoft, this whole xb 1 s and xb series x release deal kind of sucks of soul xbox users. When games are held back after pc and ps5, because devs have the added task of refining games to run on the S and X, apparently Microsoft say both platforms, with same features, except rare exceptions, baldurs hate split screen for example.. Next gen I think both need to focus on a solid sole next gen console and build future eco systems around that. Just the rants of a Complex autist 😂
As for this price hostage situation with digital downloads, that's getting irritating. They'd all do well to adopt a steam like sale model. Always grab a top tier game for a bargain. Although, credit to ps premium lately
5G would be cool! No word on a new portal yet but they are supposedly working on a new handheld gaming console! Check out the video on my channel about it! Nice, what games are you looking forward to playing on your portal when you get it?
The case will never happen on the next version probably. A better resolution, screen, and better wifi I can definitely see that. The one thing the current one is missing is the ability to use Netflix, and other Apps. If you want all this stuff added you are looking at an increase of price to 500-600 or so. What Sony could do with the next one is bundles maybe. You could get just the new portal with the new modifications to the system. Or the bundle with accessories which will cost more. Maybe something like that? I also hate the whole proprietary Bluetooth headphone thing. I also heard from reviews that they aren’t great. They need to be cheaper if they are proprietary. Not 200$. I’ll just plug in then.
If Sony do all those upgrades the price will be 300 plus which is pushing into console level price. however I love my portal and my switch but some games have to on the console and big tv because the smaller screens do not do some games justice. I do not think I would pay over 250 for any handheld that's only playing console games
Yeah I wouldn’t pay over 250 for a streaming device too! I think I would pay over 250 if it allowed the games to be stored on the dive like a proper psp 2 or vita 2 tho! What do you think about a device like that?

Don’t worry, there won’t be another iteration anytime soon. The gaming industry, like many others, are going through a massive transformation as investment has dropped. People saying PSVR2 is a failure simply don’t understand how economics works. One has only to check how many games were made exclusively for PS5 generation since its launch….. very few last I checked. VR2 is no different and yet still has enough games to get you by. Remember 50 heck 100 dics dvds why not make a playstation 100 disc reader connection to ps5
Haha that’s exactly what I need!! Any features from the video you would like to see in a next gen PlayStation portal?
Facts bro
Heck yeah 👍 which feature would be your top one to have on the next gen PlayStation portal?
8:44 as if Sony didnt have the word "ENTERTAINMENT" in its title and marketing over the past 2 decades ... Smh.. huge SWING and MISS 🤣🤦🏼😅
cloud gamming should not be just more then an update
How come?
PS Portal Edge
Bluetooth
Wifi 6
59.94hz Screen
Back Buttons
Aww fam! Back buttons! Heck yeah! That thing would rip! What about a price for it ?
I can't connect for more than 10 minutes at a time, and it take 30 minutes to connect. I've had it 3 days and I'm returning it. Complete garbage.
Too bad for you, but for me it works great. I've played from 18 different hotels around Europe connected to my PS5 at home without any issues. So I don't know why yours would not work.
Probably too many devices on wifi taking your bandwidth or wifi connection is poor are you using 5ghz my ps5 is connected through ethenet..i dont lag lol
Ohhh and im from the caribbean pretty sure you have better internet
I coudnt even connect to my ps5 from out my house and I was on 5gz the portal is trash… ps5 is also connected directly to my router via Ethernet

How come?
@@janderson0719 stay butthurt anti sony portable Nintendo switch fanboy 😂
@@purepsx It’s a PS5 accessory at the end of the day and as far as I can recall, Sony hasn’t ever made a follow up product to an accessory. The gaming market is heavily shifting to a dedicated portable gaming console and a Portal doesn’t really compete in that category.
@@EnaTenkiyoGamer Lol, you are really upset. I love my Portal but it’s an accessory, not a dedicated portable console like my OLED Steam Deck.
@@janderson0719 Lol, you sure are butthurt towards a sony piece of plastic and this video. Have fun being triggered over a ps portal kid hahaha
Sony is woke
K?
Sony makes junk. The VR 2 sucks. The PlayStation Portal sucks. The PlayStation earbuds suck.Their customer service is the worst in the entire world.Nintendo and Xbox are way better companies.
@uclapac10 stay butthurt Nintendo switch fanboy crying over this video. Sony portables live rent free in your head kid as well as sony 🤣
