I love both the stereo and mono box that I bought them at Music Millennium in Portland Oregon and year after they came out. i’ve heard of the Beatles in stereo but I have never heard of the Beatles in mono apart from the first four albums please please me with the Beatles a hard days night and beetles for sale. it wasn’t until I bought the Beatles in mono along with the stereo box that start I was in for a wonderful surprise I love the high quality not both box that’s hard especially the mono box that the stereo box that is great too and I love the different mixes you can hear different things like a longer fade out on got to get you into my life love you too are you need is love among others and I love here John Lennon when he coughs during the song Norwegian Wood and I love the overdubbed guitar solo one are you need is love and I also love the longer fade out which is great. The stereo box that is really well put together it’s fantastic and I love the bonus DVD of the chatter and recording sessions for all the Beatles albums and then mini documentary of all the albums that were recorded it’s great that all of the mini documentaries are on one DVD.

I was late to the party for the 2009 remasters, being content with the initial CD releases, albeit the 🍏 logo reissues of the nineties. It was only until after I was given the Pepper 2009 stereo with T-shirt for Christmas that I actually started building up my collection, one at a time. I eventually finished it and even acquired the box, itself. It wasn’t long until I caved and bought the mono equivalent. As far as which I prefer, I prefer stereo for the separation which enables you to hear more of the elements which make up each song.

I enjoyed it much more than I thought I would seeing as I already own this box-set but you still made it very interesting. The quality of these CDs blew me away when I got them in 2009. Way better than the old 80s ones. In fact I even gave most of my 70s issue stereo LPs to my son because of it. But I did keep all my mono ones (and foreign ones)! I tend to agree with you on which ones are better, stereo or mono, especially on the White Album. Both are essential to own in my view. I read somewhere that this was actaully the first time the Beatles took an interest in the stereo mixing. They had recently learned about the differences in the stereo and mono Pepper mixes and deliberately created significant differences in the two mixes for this album - just to keep the fans and critics and conspiracy theorists on their toes! Beatles For Sale - actually one of my favourite Beatles records, and it sounds better in stereo. The ones that sound better in mono in my view being Please Please Me, With The Beatles, Rubber Soul, Revolver and Sgt Pepper. I enjoy Help! in stereo but prefer the different take used for the mono mix of the title track. And I actually like the original US stereo copies of Magical Mystery Tour, with the "Duophonic" fake stereo mixes. It's just they are so different. The first time I heard them I thought, "eh, what's up with this, it sounds really different?". The older US stereos though with all that echo slapped on, not so much thanks, but they're still nice to own and listen to as curiosities.

It’s still a great set considering it’s knocking on now and it’s a lot better to handle than those jewel case originals but certainly couldn’t get rid of the original ones for sentimentality reasons! Yes definitely a really individual choice with mono & stereo and of coarse what you reproduce then on makes a big difference. Ahh the old fake stereo , I’ll never forget hearing those and thinking , what on earth is going on her then and like you said with the other USA albums being swamped with echo , just awful , but definitely nice to have within the collection! Great video Dave. The packaging on these CD's was quite nice. Pity they didn't supply poly lined inner sleeves for the discs however. I've added those myself. I'm sure that "Rubber Soul" also has the 1987 George Martin remix from the previous CD. Like Help!, the original RS '65 stereo mix is also on the Mono CD. It's been a while since I've played these CD's as I tend to spin my UK or Australian vinyl. Cheers mate. 😊😊

I became a fan of the mono mixes since I discovered that outside Brazil there were true mono mixes insted of just stereo fold-downs, but the stereo mixes are just as good and what I grew up listening to. I wonder why these 2009 were so heavily criticized. IMHO, they are great for digital, but might not be the ideal source for vinyl and the mono set sounds much better on vinyl than CD.

I think the 2009 stereo set did take some criticism mainly because the remastering wasn’t much better than the 1987/88 issues but they were louder it seemed. When I bought the Beatles stereo box that I also bought the mono box that as well and I’m so glad that I did. I listened to the Beatles music in the 1990s when I bought the Beatles albums when they were reissued on CD for the first time. There was certainly a very big buzz around during the release of these box sets, but then there always is with any Beatles release, just proves how pivotal and important they are! I am a huge Giles Martin fan because I love all the different remixes by the way beetle Dave have you thought about doing a video of all your favorite Beatles compilation albums because there are some great ones out there I think you should do a top 10 of all of your favorite Beatles compilation albums since almost all of them pretty much were released on capital records and I think in my head of the Beatles compilations as well it would be great to have videos of everyone doing Beatles compilation albums that something that not a lot of people have done that I know of.

As with The Beatles in Mono, I picked up a fake of The Beatles in Stereo in Shanghai. The quality is really quite good, and very precisely replicates the genuine article so far as I can tell from watching your video. I can’t speak to the contents of the individual albums, as mine remain shrink wrapped (so it was great to see what’s in there); but the outsides don’t appear to differ. And, as I mentioned previously, my fake came with a replica of the USB drive with the 24-bit flac files and mini-documentaries.
Hi, I think it’s mainly just the quality of the materials used and slightly inferior printing, other than that I think they are very similar ! The usb bonus is pretty cool too!’stay well!
Beetle Dave I absolutely love the stereo box set it’s a fantastic one I bought it simultaneously when it came out a year after it came out in 2010 or so. there is something wonderful about all of the albums remastered and they sound fantastic still after it came out in 9909. it’s hard for me to pick which is my favorite Beatles album but if I had to pick one my number one will always be the white album simple because I love it it has so many different styles of music represented in one album I love the fact that it’s loaded as a double album they could’ve had a triple or quadruple album I would’ve bought that I don’t know if anyone else would.

I have the 2009 Stereo & Mono CD sets as well as the 2012 Stereo vinyl set a few of the 2014 Mono vinyl releases. Of course, Please Please Me & With the Beatles are better in mono, after that it's up to people's personal tastes and sound system. Mono or Stereo? Beatles fans need the choice to choose either.

Another great video BeatleDave. In earlier years I preferred the mono mixes of most of the albums but these days I prefer the stereo, but if I HAD TO pick favourites for some reason I think I'd go mono. I probably prefer the stereo these days because they seem a lot fresher to me because I only listened to the mono for so long. And the HELP! cover has the guys spelling out N U J V which the guys thought looked more satisfying than the way help looked spelled out in semaphore. And of course those pesky Paul is Dead people said this stood for NEW UNKNOWN JOHN VOCALIST and said this was now a clue that John was dead, not Paul. The big switcheroo, lol

My theory behind it is, maybe they thought that one day if they started to get unpopular or records stopped selling , then by sewing these seeds of a possible doppelgänger in the group , then it would ignite a frenzy of record buying to search for the clues. It’s all great fun regardless!
I brought this set on the actual day of release. The picture of them Leaning Over the garden pots was actually taken in Russell Gardens. Opposite the President Hotel. They were staying there and the picture of them walking to the Hotel was used for the Beatles At The Beeb Album cover.

Hi Scott, It’s a difficult one because the mono box is much more compact and a stereo one in a similar box wouldn’t be much bigger but obviously they would have to lose the booklets /tri fold sleeves etc which I could live with! Stay well!
I agree that the box as should have been a better complement to the Mono box. I'm sure they could've come up with a better design. However the trifold CD covers look different enough to make them unique.

I absolutely enjoy the mini documentary DVD in this set. Was this DVD an after thought and added to the collection once the initial first pressings of the boxset became exhausted? I did buy them all individually and found it a bit of a hassle having to put the disc into our computer to watch each individual documentary. So much better with them all on one DVD and as always Dave another excellent presentation.

I noticed you put picture of the black box mono box set. But didn’t you buy the red box in HMV like I did in 1982 as the black box was for the American market.
Another good one - I’ve tended to listen the 2009 stereo mixes mainly in the car via Spotify- so could do with a proper listen again on my main home set up - on cd which are your favourites Dave ? The 87’s,2009’s or the new remixes?

Hi Edward, Glad you enjoyed! It’s always a difficult one stating what something sounds like because you’re relying on everybody having the same HI-Fi / speaker system. Of course, where your system is set up can also have a good or bad effect on the sound. So for the most part I tend to not give my impressions of what I think these days especially as I have tinnitus aa well which doesn’t help. These 2009 CDs definitely sound louder than the 1987/88 CDs as they were mastered louder but they are not necessarily any better sounding. Stay well!

As with The Beatles in Mono, I picked up a fake of The Beatles in Stereo in Shanghai. The quality is really quite good, and very precisely replicates the genuine article so far as I can tell from watching your video. I can’t speak to the contents of the individual albums, as mine remain shrink wrapped (so it was great to see what’s in there); but the outsides don’t appear to differ.
And, as I mentioned previously, my fake came with a replica of the USB drive with the 24-bit flac files and mini-documentaries.

I think it’s mainly just the quality of the materials used and slightly inferior printing, other than that I think they are very similar !

Beetle Dave I absolutely love the stereo box set it’s a fantastic one I bought it simultaneously when it came out a year after it came out in 2010 or so. there is something wonderful about all of the albums remastered and they sound fantastic still after it came out in 9909. it’s hard for me to pick which is my favorite Beatles album but if I had to pick one my number one will always be the white album simple because I love it it has so many different styles of music represented in one album I love the fact that it’s loaded as a double album they could’ve had a triple or quadruple album I would’ve bought that I don’t know if anyone else would.

I have the 2009 Stereo & Mono CD sets as well as the 2012 Stereo vinyl set a few of the 2014 Mono vinyl releases. Of course, Please Please Me & With the Beatles are better in mono, after that it's up to people's personal tastes and sound system. Mono or Stereo? Beatles fans need the choice to choose either.

Yeh I know exactly where your coming from my friend , I genuinely don’t mention sound quality etc (although it depends) because mainly everyone has a different HI-FI set up / speaker system and what I may review would be only according to how I heard it and also I have Tinnitus so can’t really rely too much on my ears , pretty burnt out from years of loud music!

Another great video BeatleDave. In earlier years I preferred the mono mixes of most of the albums but these days I prefer the stereo, but if I HAD TO pick favourites for some reason I think I'd go mono. I probably prefer the stereo these days because they seem a lot fresher to me because I only listened to the mono for so long.
And the HELP! cover has the guys spelling out N U J V which the guys thought looked more satisfying than the way help looked spelled out in semaphore. And of course those pesky Paul is Dead people said this stood for NEW UNKNOWN JOHN VOCALIST and said this was now a clue that John was dead, not Paul. The big switcheroo, lol

My theory behind it is, maybe they thought that one day if they started to get unpopular or records stopped selling , then by sewing these seeds of a possible doppelgänger in the group , then it would ignite a frenzy of record buying to search for the clues.

I brought this set on the actual day of release. The picture of them Leaning Over the garden pots was actually taken in Russell Gardens. Opposite the President Hotel. They were staying there and the picture of them walking to the Hotel was used for the Beatles At The Beeb Album cover.

I think the White / Black boxes are enough to differentiate.
I’ve seen a few home made examples to match the mono box, look great and a very high standard!

It’s a difficult one because the mono box is much more compact and a stereo one in a similar box wouldn’t be much bigger but obviously they would have to lose the booklets /tri fold sleeves etc which I could live with!

I agree that the box as should have been a better complement to the Mono box. I'm sure they could've come up with a better design. However the trifold CD covers look different enough to make them unique.

I absolutely enjoy the mini documentary DVD in this set. Was this DVD an after thought and added to the collection once the initial first pressings of the boxset became exhausted? I did buy them all individually and found it a bit of a hassle having to put the disc into our computer to watch each individual documentary. So much better with them all on one DVD and as always Dave another excellent presentation.

It’s always a difficult one stating what something sounds like because you’re relying on everybody having the same HI-Fi / speaker system.
Of course, where your system is set up can also have a good or bad effect on the sound.
So for the most part I tend to not give my impressions of what I think these days especially as I have tinnitus aa well which doesn’t help.
These 2009 CDs definitely sound louder than the 1987/88 CDs as they were mastered louder but they are not necessarily any better sounding.
