Wow - this is great. I have a couple of questions... Do you think this could work on a stretched art canvas? Do you think we could put letter stickers on the surface before dipping it into the shaving cream to protect them from the colours? Thanks!
Karen Buckshi I've done this on 8x10 canvas before I saw this video. I had OK results until I realized I did not let them sit for 3 minutes. In fact, I didn't let them sit at all :( I think that caused the my just uneven OK results. This technique is fun!
+Lisa-Lin B thanks for your response. we tried it and let it sit for gge 3 minutes. the paint was a bit streaky rather than marbled. I think it's because the canvases are coated and didn't absorb the liquid as well as paper. will try on a raw canvas next time. note that our try on wood worked quite well!
+Karen Buckshi Raw canvas? Where does one purchase a raw canvas? I wonder if I could remove the pre-gesso coating on store bought canvases? What do you think? Perhaps adding an acrylic ground might work too. I'll have to try it.
Any fabric store should have raw canvas :) In addition, you can add gesso to a premade canvas. idk how much it will absorb the paint with in this technique, but in my painting class, I always gesso'ed over the store bought canvas, because it just holds paint and water better in general. That pre-coating stuff is icky! Just be sure to do it like at least 24 hours in advance, so the gesso has time to set up. I haven't tried it, but I'm going to now! Oh, and depending on how you apply the gesso, you can get some very interesting textures! I would apply it on thick with a big palette knife, and you can create a super smooth surface, a raised bumpy surface. I did like some textured stripes before. Might look cool with the marbling :)
Hye Sea Lemon ! I am very glad to watch your videos! But I cannot do it ! It's looks so hard and difficult to a child like me... how to buy it? I just sit at home and watch your videos. My parents? They go works. But I really like it so much! I am just 11 years old & Malaysian. Bye, thanks for read my comment! 🌟❤
In 6th grade our science teacher did this with everyone, using food coloring :). Each kid had a piece of paper and once we were done, we glued them onto our science journals and wrote our names on them with permanent marker. Everyone loved it and thought it was so cool.
All your tutorials are so clear and without any irrelevant info, I am impressed and learned so much from you already. Thank you very much! The coptic stitching tutorial is fantastic!
Hi, Thankyou I just bought several cans of shaving foam this morning for this. You told us everything you need to get started .. I'm about to after this comment :)) Also I once saw a video using this technique, she used something like a cookie cutter in the shape of a circle & must have left a very thin layer of the shaving cream on there & when it dried it was all shiny. Looked awesome, great for card making & scrapbooking ... if anyone knows of this video PLEASE tell me. Much thanks for this very informative tutorial :))
Did you try putting a blank piece of paper over the piece you place on wax paper before you squeegee it off? Just wondered if you could get another print.
Tried your technique. FUN! Decided to also try liquid watercolors by Dick Blick, including metallic gold. Worked really well, in fact my favorites. Thanks I tried this because you made it look so fun. Next will be book covers for a book my cousin requested. And yes, I got 2 huge cans of shaving cream and a squeegee at the dollar store for three dollars. Such a deal.
Can you please show us how to make "wall files" (or commonly called wall pockets I guess?) I am sorry if I said the wrong name, I wasn't sure exactly, I know that they hang on the wall and hold files/magazines/anything you need really. You have such amazing and creative ideas I would love to see what you could teach. Thank you!
Do you think this would work on vinyl or cardboard? I'm looking for new ways to spice up my handmade journals. Found you yesterday! Really loving your channel.
Do you think you can do faux cloissone? I think it would make a great pattern for a journal cover, framed printed on for an smartphone case. You make your tutorials so accessible. Thanks for another great video.
Would the paper in amzn.to/2KSPp8o or in amzn.to/2KRtONq work for marbling with shaving cream? Both say the finish is matte. Do you think the pre-scored fold would be a problem?
I was wondering if this would work with an oil based enamel, like TESTORS model paint? I didn't see it mentioned in any of the other comments. Looks Great btw!!
I'm going to try this to make my own marbled headpages for book binding, instead of paying $15-20 per sheet... and if it doesn't work, the total outlay will probably still be less than a single sheet so no big loss :)
Great technique. Can't wait to try it. Will reinkers work? I have thinkers for Distress inks, chalk inks, and Archival inks that I would like to try if they will work.
I did this a couple of years ago with my 9 yo niece. I used alcohol inks. She had a blast trying out all kinds of stuff. I didnt know I could do this with acrylic paints, so now I have to try this again. TY
I'm wondering if this is done on Photo paper, can you put it in your printer to add text when it's dry? For example, what if I wanted to add the words, Happy Birthday to a card. Could I do this in my printer?
I found a way to make bubbles! Here is a way to do it Get some shaving cream and put it into a mixing bowl. Then add some food coloring to it and mix it with the mixer
Hello! i love your videos can you help me? i am searching for a shaving cream but i dont find any one can i use anything else that works the same ? Thanks 😊
i do custom paint on guitarsc ive never heard if this but i like it because everything else out there will not stick to the sides i would jave to do each sdurface sep and with the dawn idea it would run all over. sio iam doing a guiutar for a friend its a tributre to a guitar player that was murdrdd on stage one of his guitars had a marbleing effect in the base color of blackso instead of spending hundreds of dolleers i was thinking this might work the guitar is painted with white primer so all i wouold have to do is add alot more black the sha\vinmg cream . thats what i was thinking.
We did this in art class all the time! ❤️ But what we did was: Step 1: Pour shaving cream on table. Step 2: Add food coloring and mix gently (if you just mix it all together it will make one color). Step 3: Take some regular or thick paper and press on the shaving cream. Step 4: Remove paper and scrape left over cream off with a ruler. Step 5: Let it air dry and it's ready to go home next art class! We all did three pages, so there were three different tables with different colors, and we just added some more coloring when it started to mix! This is a way more simple way to do it, but the way you did it seemed a lot more efficient! Definitely one of my most favorite art projects to do 😋
What age were u when ur school taught u this and which country were u in? Im just curious becos im 11 and next year im 12 (now is school holidays, school starts next year) but my school has not taught me this. Pls ans ty (im not gonna stalk u, no worries!)😂
@Bethany Stocker - thanks so much! I want to do a large piece and don't have a container large enough to hold the shaving cream. I'll try laying down sheets of wax paper on my kitchen island. If it seems I do need some sort of border at the edges perhaps I can form a large shallow container out of aluminum foil?
Really cool!!! Excited to marble up some paper!!
I love the small curlicues designs!! I have GOT to try this!!!!
Do you think that a galaxy pattern could be achieved using black paper and the appropriate colours?
Ooo! That could work, and you could flick the stars on top after you wipe the shaving cream off. If you try it, I'd love to see a pic!
O hh, I want to see that too.
@@geminiwonder867 I don't think so
YOUR ARTWORK IS SOOOOOOOO BEAUTIFUL

Could I use this process to dye silk scarves using a fabric ink
Is there a way to make a heart pattern in the marbling? I love using green and orange.

Can you try DIY fabric paint?
what can you use instead of shaving cream?

Could u make a video on stitching with hand

What the wax paper do?
Can you make Halloween decorations
Love your tutorials. I came for the book making information and stayed for all the other beautiful, fun techniques!
Me too! I love Jennifer's tutorials - nice and easy to follow. Thanks Jennifer
And such professionally done videos! Excellent lighting, editing, content, and music. You have it going on!

This is great, thanks for sharing Paul :)
Anyone came from quarantine? Cause same. Edit: OMG THANKS FOR THE HEART 💓

Great job on this DIY, love it xx.
Can you please do a video on homemade binders? The binders I buy always break and they're really expensive :(
Wow I'm very impressed, she took a kids craft and put a modern "adult" twist to it!
This works awesome on glossy paper too like photo paper
Oh I think I will do this on some fabric and make it into a galaxy mousepad! Thanks for the vid this is super cool!
That's a cool idea!

Omg im so gonna use this for my fashion design project
Could you do this on other things too? (Ex: a flower pot, a phone case, a picture frame, etc)

I've done this successfully with liquid water colors, alcohol inks, and food coloring. Awesome results every time.

Love this! You always do such a great job with your videos, thank you! :)
Hi! i was wondering what the best way to re bind stapled books? I'm pretty clumsy and I have a lot of staple bound music books i don't want to ruin.
I'll be telling my friends to get ready for marble everything
its such a great idea to get creative i have made this and it turned out very nice
Hallo fgrom Karnei Shomron. This looks good, I will give it a try. Thanks for the posting.
haha i did this in art class, its amazing

I like the colors you put together!! They look so nice and neat!:):):):):):):):)
I've done this technique many times with great results. Another tip - get unscented shaving cream!
I'm wondering if this is done on Photo paper, can you put it in your printer to add text when it's dry? For example, what if I wanted to add the words, Happy Birthday to a card. Could I do this in my printer?
thanks for a great tutorial! just a quick question - why the waxed papper? what function does it have?
I found a way to make bubbles!
Here is a way to do it
Get some shaving cream and put it into a mixing bowl.
Then add some food coloring to it and mix it with the mixer
Wooww!!! My dads not gonna find his shaving cream tomorrow... XD
Can you use aluminium foil instead of the waxing paper( I am saying this before I watch the video so don't roast me if the answer is in the video)?
The darker one is beautiful! And is acrylic paint is more easier to move on the paper? I mean will the colours come out more brighter?
Hello! i love your videos can you help me? i am searching for a shaving cream but i dont find any one can i use anything else that works the same ?

I also never let it sit, even with plain card stock. The shaving cream makes cleanup extra easy.
Can I use shampoo, conditioner, and lotion for the making of the shaving cream?
has anybody tried this with fabric color on a fabric? I'm very curious how it turns out:)
Does paint work as good as watercolors?
any tips? XD u dont have to limit yourself to paper! so tru :D
If I’m using a course piece of paper what will happen if I’m not able to squeegee all of the shaving cream off?
I did the same project with the shaving cream except I made bookmarks but that was 2 or 3 years ago
Hi! Can the ikat and marbelized shaving cream be done on fabric? Id love to see the ikat done on cotton if you can!

Thanks for showing it with dark colored paper!!!!!
What about alcohol inks for the non-porous surfaces like the phone case? Do you foresee any issues with that?
holy shit i remember doing this in ms or hs i think ?? this unearthed memories i completely forgot about ty
I can't believe no one has said this yet, but you look like aria from pretty little liars :D

Does the clear spray varnish get rid of the smell of the shaving cream?
I wonder if I can make a galaxy themed one if I use black paper
The green-blue one looks like the background of "The scream"
Super work.my acrylic paints are not so fluid.is solution dilute with little water?is it better for this work
Shaving cream? Who came up with this? Wow! How cool!
I did this but I use tiny paper and watercolor and it did really well and messy
Fantástico..like y comparto.
