As a black man, I will NEVER fly United Airlines again! My uncle used to fly for United Airlines after serving in the USAF. BTW, he became a pilot in the USAF BEFORE there was affirmative action, now known as DEI! I remember when I got my pilot's license, and got my first job, I actually had to be better to be considered equal!
DEI really demeans black people and other minority groups as it says that we can't meet the standard and spits in the face of the Tuskegee airmen, Jesse Brown, Carl Brashir, and other black people who had to become almost superhuman to open doors of opportunity for black people today! I am saving to buy my own airplane and just fly myself where I need to go in the USA! When I need to travel overseas, I ALWAYS fly foreign airlines where I know they don't have this DEI nonsense!

@@matthewbrice6202 - That is really strange, because when my brother was stuck on a plane for hours after flying back from Italy they reimbursed him for his ticket and he got a voucher for a free flight for the future. When they return to the states they had a detour to a non-international airport so they wouldn’t let anybody off the plane. They spent over four hours or more on the plane before they finally flew them to Portland International. He then had to catch another plane home, took him hours and two planes to get back home. Depending on the airline, I know there are laws about being reimbursed when it’s the airlines fault. I don’t know how that works if it’s the fault of the pilot.

All my life I was a victim of Affirmative Action. After graduating college I moved to CA because where I was living was kind of depressed re: the job situation. The first major interview I had was with Pacific Bell. The interviewer, holding my application in his hand said to me, "You have all of the qualification and experience I need but I CAN'T hire you. I HAVE TO HIRE minorities." Then, I got a part time teaching position. I was teaching for 5 years and a full time position was opened up. According to the contract ALL qualified personnel were to notified of the position. I wasn't notified and a minority got the position. I interviewed many times for teaching positions. What I found out was that the majority of the teaching positions were given to local minorities. So, I had to make it on my own. I know I"m not the only one who has gone through this. Every time the government makes a decision they thing is equitable for one they restrict someone else.

I have relatives that were denied vocational and educational opportunities because they were minorities. They were victims too. Affirmative Action programs offered opportunities for millions of people to have better lives for themselves and their families. If the people running the government and the industries at the time had given everyone an opportunity based on merit there would have been no need for Affirmative Action. It's easier to hit a home run when you start on third base.

Some of that knowledge may be needed to save lives and property. Why would ANYONE be excused from knowing that knowledge in that position? We all want equal opportunity but without equal requirements if is a farce. The case went to the SCOTUS and of course the liberal judges voted for the removal. I believe they think minorities are just not able to compete with whites. As a result, it could lead to the loss of lives due to inferior training and testing.

In 1989 United was forced to hire massive amounts of basically anyone except a white male. A Hispanic friend of mine went to interview and was handed a job with no interview and no flight simulator test required, as was standard. So there's that little fact. Many of the quota hires failed so many checkrides that they were prohibited from upgrading to Captain but were allowed to keep their jobs due to Union protection. It's just a fact whether you like it or not. Now they say they're going to have 50% hires black or female and the hair on the back of my neck is standing up thinking about it. Because the percentage of qualified applicants that happen to be female or black are just not at 50%. Probably closer to 15 or 20%.They WILL lower the standards as needed to fill that quota. Hey, I retired very young after a great 20 year career as an airline pilot. “DEI” has been a pretty big part of the game since I started back in late 2001. We had a female Captain almost cartwheel a 737 down the runway, who NEVER should have been in a cockpit.
She survived a long time before it caught up with her. Because she was female, instead of getting retrained, ordered to perform further training like many are required to do from time to time, and still end up thriving in the aviation space, she made it all about gender, and made all kinds of acquisitions.
The irony is that many of our best are from the so called protected classes of people. They decided to push themselves harder to insure they aren’t considered a quota hire.

DEI is trying to compensate for not doing the hard work of making sure that everyone gets a good education from the moment they enter school. Instead of sorting the problem at the root they are trying to fix it at the finish line because it's quicker than doing the hard work but will most likely bring new problems.

I don't want anyone doing a job where they hold my life in my hands to be picked upon any other quality than their ability to do the job with excellence. What was wrong with meritocracy? We hadn't long got rid of our class system interfering with meritocracy in the UK and we're now we're having this new class system foisted upon us. We got it right with meritocracy. Yeah, let's have plenty of diversity in these workplaces but for the sake of the Gods don't lower the required standards for them.

SCOTUS recently ruled against racial preferences for college admissions in SFFA v Harvard, so there is hope that such practices will come under much more scrutiny since they are all basically written to exclude straight White or Asian males no matter how qualified they are. This overturns nearly 50 years of precedent of the interpretation of the civil rights act and is a step toward the downfall of affirmative action on which DEI is based both for college admissions and employment opportunities. The only people who deserve a helping hand are the people who truly are disadvantaged such as the disabled or preferences that are earned such as veteran status or community service rather than one granted by birthright or a proclaimed sexual preference and/or identity.

  • @Less1leg2
    @Less1leg2 2 месяца назад +2

    Charlie is spot on.
DEI and Affirmative Action hiring practices have to lower the standards of qualification, because to meet thresholds. You have to make the hiring pool much bigger so that the selection process can find the TARGET GROUP that DEI needs supplying prospective numbers.
But because you the Progressive HR Hiring Administrator ran this program, of course the net effect will be to understand, you made it about RACE, not about MERIT.
So you cut off your nose to spite your face.

on mulatto boy, he passes for white. If he was my pilot, i would initially say good. But if he comes out saying he is half black and he got hired because of DEI, i would then say im out of this plane. I would demand that airlines post before the ticket purchase if the pilot is DEI. That way i will not go through with the purchase for that DEI flight.

My argument would be years of trying before the change in policy. Example. I am dark skinned Hispanic. Say I am a great pilot but I live in a more difficult exam placement location. My flying skills are great. Hours in the air are documented but I score low on the placement exams and do not get to fly for Pan-Am. Now the new policy is in place and Pan-Am hires me on first application. This is my fourth actual attempt. I went through this very thing in the late 80's. Now According to Charlie Kirk, he has the notion to judge my abilities because I was hired under a new policy and he is not nor would he have been aware of my piloting skills.

Retired on B-777-200 ER.... United Airlines is a joke and an embarrassment tp the United States of America. To be fair... I worked 30 years as captain for Continental airlines before we merged with United.

Do you know how pilots are trained? Briefly, pilots need a minimum of 1,500 hours to receive their ATP certificate. To achieve this, many pilots teach student pilots to accumulate the required flight hours. Given this, how is it possible that white student pilots taught by black pilots are considered more qualified for jobs than the black pilots who trained them?
