Did Diana Taurasi get humbled?
Yes
very wekk
Yo of course
Yep. And worse, she embarrassed herself. I'm being real when I say I only know who Taurasi is because of Clark. However, I'm assured she is the "GOAT" of the WNBA. And like it or not, if you are recognized as one of the greats or one of the legends of anything, you owe that game or that league or that field respect for elevating you to that status. You are an ambassador of the game or field. And as such, you need to be humble to begin with. Look at Wayne Gretzky. For those of us hockey fans, we know damn well why he is known as The Great One. Why 99 is retired as a player number. The man was on another plane of existence with his rink IQ. Compared to his peers, he was actually small and kinda reidy (I say that while being virtually the same size as him at 6'1" and 180 lbs, but I was a mediocre high school player, and he is a living legend, so no disrespect to the Great One). Yet whenever he is asked about today's players, he always celebrates their game, he roots for his own records to be beaten, he is a model of the true sportsman and gentleman. It's not only his game that makes him the Great One. It's who he is on and off the ice.
With Taurasi, the *bitterness* towards an aspiring rookie talent is nothing short of disgraceful. Trying to degrade Clark's skill, dismissing her achievements, and outright being petty and spiteful towards the new talent who is electrifying a life support league, Taurasi herself allegedly wants to build up into a respectable game. But with her behavior towards Clark, her naked envy and resentfulness is so blatant and grotesque, and coming from someone who is supposedly a "great," only further tarnishes the WNBA's already unfortunate reputation. With the way the league is acting, it becomes harder and harder to justify the expense to the NBA, and I think it's pretty obvious that if it wasn't the only women's pro basketball league, it would have folded long ago. But I think as someone who has been an athlete all throughout school, and is still athletic and fit at 40, the WNBA needs a wake-up call. Because this season, and in some other well-publicized instances in prior seasons, they are not setting a good example for young female athletes. They are not being sportswoman by demonstrating the basic tenets of good sportsmanship. Instead they are sadly acting out all the worst feminine stereotypes in a way that embarasses my women friends.
No matter what you're doing, be it sport or career in any field... being an honorable person who can follow, lead, and inspire is what sports are meant to teach. And sadly, the WNBA is failing across the board.
I hope they learn to do better.
@@yakhooves couldn't have said it better myself. I'm on the same boat when I say I only know Taurasi because of Clark.
Caitlin Clark just took last year's last place team and beat a team with 3 olympians on their home court. And got a standing O for doing it.
She is so beautiful to me. Have a huge crush. I always liked bb. I have many celtics shirts. I went to school in US, and in Massachusetts. So i became hockey, which my husband played. And basketball fan which I would go to celtics games, and play at court with roommates. Love all the Massachusetts sports teams. Love CC’s character, and I honestly can understand the hate she gets. I have experienced it, and watched non confrontational peers experience it… stereotypes are more common in certain cultures.
@@sukaenacornelius9285you honestly find her attractive? I just don’t see it I guess. Maybe attractive for a wnba player but that’s not saying much😂

If you knew any thing about the WNBA, Diana plays for Phoenix not the Chicago SKY, WHO WAS THE HOME TEAM. Diana did not play in the sold out game. Henry, stick to watching pickle ball!

@@vincentlipari3193 sober up and try making sense. Henry didn't mention the Chicago Sky or pickleball: you did. Taurasi has played in phx 20+ seasons where it finally sold out due to CC. Simple
She’s not the next anybody. She’s the first Caitlin Clark.
Bad white girl actually bringing people to watch the WNBA. Bad Orange man. You get it.
I’ve watched 2 WNBA games in my life in 2024. Both because of CC. It took me 20 years to see DT play 1 game. And learned, through, this video that she won 3 national championships. Good job, DT for your contribution to a failing league that is subsidized by the NBA, that virtually never filled an arena, rare jersey sales and virtually had not national TV audience. CC came to league, got you private planes, filled your arenas and her jersey is sold out in Cali. And she got a ball and shoe deal from jump. Who’s the GOAT?
every time i hear of Griner what comes to my mind is that she was traded for a war criminal by Russia
Awful deep voice for a she...

Used to love Diana, now I see her as a bitter POS
👍👍🤣🤣
That is the real stat. Dang.
You girls and your jealousy is one of the reasons the WNBA finds a tough time growing professionally. NBA pays for this league to stay alive so we need players like Clark to excite the new generation of women’s basketball players.
put more men in WNBA and even more will follow it.
Even more embarrassing it’s a tax write off so they’re always going to get the money from the men they berate
I mean, if you're going to be jealous, a $28m shoe deal is a real reason to get butt hurt. 😂
😂🤣😂
The best part of that game was the standing ovation the crowd gave CC
Diana said she won 3 national championships but Caitlin broke the all time scoring record. As a man, if i was in that position, i would definitely put on the younger talent and let them take the baton from me in real time. I would accept it and applaud it.
They say men have the ego, but i guess men were the one with the power to have ego. Now women are in power, and they have the exact same ego, but even more sassy with it. Of course not all men and all women but this is still fascinating.
Let’s not beat around the bush. Although it’s predominantly female hate, I break it down into two categories of why CC is getting so much hate from the majority of the WNBA.
She’s white.
She’s straight.
And those two facts will make the majority of the WNBA resent and hate her.
Downright hilarious, but if the tables were turned, CC would absolutely get crucified in the media.
Yeah... Because you must have class... Something DT and BG have zero concept of...
@@jahjoekaVery odd comment to criticize women, when it has no relevance to the original post at all 🤔
It sounds like you’re bitter
@@poindextertunes Defensive much? Women don't work in team activities as well as men and this has evolutionary roots and modern social roots. Men compete overtly, while women compete covertly. This is why women who hate each other will still act nice face to face - men typically don't do that and will avoid one another, or fight and then it's over. There's this myth that will never die about a female lead world being more peaceful - and yet today we have more women in leadership positions than ever before and look at the state of the world? How's the Matriarchy working out? It's not and everyone knows it. Western women are very much in need of a reality check as this entire sport is a male subsidy.
The arrogance of a 40 year old woman assuming she’s for sure gonna get the best of a 22 year old rookie.
Clark has really raised the bar for defining excellence in women’s basketball. No longer can players just assume they’re the best player simply because they’re black or lesbian or manly.
With Clark’s expertise on display NOW the women of the WNBA actually have to perform at her level to be taken seriously. Bragging, insults, threats, and excuses cannot cover the lack-luster performance of LAST year’s GOAT in the WNBA.
Now there’s a REAL basketball player in the league.
CC just got the first ever Rookie Tripple Double in history.
She lets her game talk.
She would have had one in the Phoenix game if her coach wasn’t so spiteful.

Ladies, I grew up watching MJ, Shaq and them play. If it wasn't for Angel and Caitlin I would not know who you women were. Stop the hate and say thank you.
What they’ve always wanted is finally here…to be relevant. This is it..take advantage and grow the league! Yet here we are and they can’t accept it because of Caitlyns popularity. I’m so confused.
It’s really funny when Angela Read says shit like “people are here to watch me too!”
Sorry girl. Your parents are the only ones who knew your name until you shoved CC. And even they had to check your birth certificate because they couldn’t remember if they named you Angela or Amy
Angel is a scub in comparison
She was not only humbled, but reality came to Diana Taurasi. The attendance of 17,071 is the largest crowd in Phoenix since 1997 and it happened against Caitlin Clark where more fans were wearing Caitlin Clark's #22 Iowa and Indiana shirts than DT's # 3 Mercury attire.
And the atmosphere inside that building was like an Indiana Fever home game and Caitlin Clark got a standing ovation after the game and stayed before and after the game to sign autographs to fans who helped fill the building in what is the largest crowd to see a Phoenix Mercury home game in the Diana Taurasi era which began in 2004.
Diana Taurasi is 42 years old and still acts like a spoiled brat.
That’s what I love about CC. She takes the highroad and stays humble and she lets her game speak for itself. Congratulations on your triple double.!🎉🎉🎉
Parents did an amazing job raising her right. She’s a role model for everyone, not just women.
If you watch Caitlin play and all you have to say is “all she does is 3’s” then you are not paying attention. That girl is John Stockton with the dishes, when her teammates catch up they are going to be a formidable force
Exactly. She just needs someone willing to be her Malone, and good things start happening. Boston has started figuring that out, and good things are happening as a result.
Even if all she does is 3s, it's wild how people twist that into a bad thing. I've seen WNBA players airball layups LOL
Obviously she isn't all 3s. Not made at least at 2.9 3PG and 16.1 PPG. About 3 PPG at the FT line. Which is CRAZY as often as she is supposedly "multi-teamed" and "attacked" with what a casual observer of ridiculous CC would think is dozens of fouls per game.
Minus 3s and FTs she averages fewer than 2 points per game, lol.
@@deeremeyer1749 cool, how many assists, rebounds??? Interesting that you would leave out those key statistics 🙄

Taurasi is possibly the best player in WNBA history.
@@marioargiropoulos7555oh well, wait until CCs career is said and done. Diana is not even gonna be an after thought. Never heard of her before and I don’t care what she’s regarded as in the league. Jealousy is an ugly emotion and there’s a lot of ugly women in this league
@@MrMarathonOG When Michael Jordan was asked who was more impressive between James Harden and Steph Curry, Jordan’s response was, “Six rings”.
Do you think Michael Jordan is jealous of either of those guys? No. Michael is the greatest ever. He answered that way because that’s how true competitors are. And not a single person criticized Jordan for that response. His response was basically what Taurasi was saying.
Taurasi didn’t insult her in any way. They were literally hugging and laughing together after their last game. This is a media manufactured feud. Thank God for players like Diana who aren’t just going to say the bland scripted bullshit response to each question.
To say that Caitlin is being “bullied” is a slap in Caitlin’s face. To be bullied is to be victimized. She’s not a victim. Diana simply didn’t kiss her ass when asked about her. Good. And Caitlin could use that to fuel her. Again… Good!
This is competition. The pearl clutching over Caitlin being some kind of victim is ridiculous. These are pro athletes. Caitlin is not a helpless little girl.
@@MrMarathonOG That's dumb, jealously or emotion doesn't change facts. Taurasi was amazing in her prime, objectively it's going to be pretty damn hard to catch up to. Go look at a highlights video if you've never seen her.
Being able to sell out crowds doesn't make Caitlin better than her peers, as of now she's still mostly potential. There's a lot more "boring" players (aside from DT, who was not) that are incredibly effective at winning in the WNBA.
God bless Caitlin Clark. She truly deserves better than awful people who surround her 🙏💚
Caitlin has been getting downplayed, underestimated, counted out since high school. Diana has NOTHING on her.
A'ja Wilson does and she destroyed Clark twice.
@@Davelove. LMAO -- Not TWO whole times.... Seriously?!?!
@stephenedelmann2665 ,they played twice and A'ja Wilson destroyed. In Tuesday game,Kelsey Plum guarded Clark and scored 34pts on Clark and Clark only scored 3pts. Biggest case of Sour Grapes ever from Taurasi. She shows absolutely no class at all in being jealous, being butthurt by Clark's talent and the attention she's getting. Would not surprise me if it was Taurasi that kept Clark out of the Olympic Team. How do you NOT select someone who has changed the landscape of the WNBA and is a walking, breathing hoop machine that can change the course of a game in seconds ? Taurasi has showed a real ugly side here that you just can't forget, it's definitely damaged her image. What a dissapointing example for young girls Taurasi is.
this is all fiction. I recommend you watch her interview clip in full. Her whole point was that people underestimate how much more difficult the WNBA is than the NCAAW. And that some folks games don't translate as well. Her conclusion was that folks are going to have to be patient. And she was absolutely correct in the case of Caitlin. She is playing well, but nowhere near as dominant as she was in college. And she was right about her style not translating immediately. Those who explode in their rookie year rely upon strength and quickness. Caitlin's game is more finesse. And she has struggled with the increased speed, size, and strength of defenders. I believe in CC, because she's smart, talented, and (most importantly) driven.
DT is plain spoken and blunt, which isn't everyone's cup of tea. She's also in the top 3 of women to ever play hoops. Maybe even the top 1. And she was 100% correct.
@@mezzbyeah, Taurasi is a professional competitor, she’s not going to sing the praises of an unproven rookie in her translation from college to pro. The same thing happened with Wemby. The United States didn't want to show the international community that white racism popularity can promote a undeserving player to the Olympics. The majority of the world are people of color. Russia and China and in Africa pointing out United States racism and other flaws daily. Clark is a basketball turnover machine. But the white controlled media ignores this. Martin Luther King in the last book he wrote before he was assassinated " Where Do We Go From Here?" "Chaos Or Community?" explains how America justifies its subtle racism.. It's a huge inadvertant compliment when the player you most admired growing up is jealous of you. That's the ultimate compliment, I would think.
Someone should ask Diana Taurasi if Caitlin had played on her UCONN team, would Clark also have won 3 championships (maybe 4)? And vice versa - if Taurasi had played on Clark's Iowa team, would she alone have carried that team into 2 finals games? Could Taurasi have set the national collegiate scoring record of all time while at Iowa?
She could have but she was a team player. What was the % of shots Caitlin took, almost 60% more then Diana and DIANA % of making those shots was much higher than Caitlin's.
@@vincentlipari3193 I will accept your numbers are correct. But that emphasizes MY point that Taurasi was a member of a much more talented team and she was but one component of those winning years. So she did not have to work as much for that UConn team to win.
Conversely, Caitlin's Iowa team is not as talented as UConn's so she bore a greater load to CARRY her team into the play-offs.
So back to my original question - If Caitlin had played in UConn back then would she also have been the recipient of 3 championships? I believe YES. Vice versa, if Taurasi were in that Iowa team, would she single-handedly have dragged Iowa into the championship games? I believe NO.
Taurasi also benefited from having one of the all-time great head coaches, not only coaching her up, but also coaching-up all of the teammates around her.

Maybe when she saw the other player go down, she was more concerned for her well-being than the shot going in? Wouldn't surprise me seeing the kind of person CC is.
Yeah airball cancels it out
@@stevejones8163 no matter what your "maybes" might be, it still goes down in the books as an Error on Defense and an Error on Offense.
I stand by my 1st comment
@briefcaseblues6061 I'm completely sure that you do. After all, everyone is a basketball guru.
@@stevejones8163 it's not about basketball. It's about knowing how stats and books are kept. Duh
Definition of idols becoming your rivals
I never thought I’d be watching a WNBA vid but here we are 😂
Same
I've got no idea how I ended up here but if this is how good it gets....I ain't coming back. CC dropped that girl on the floor yet her attempt didn't even hit the rim. That's akin to taking a shot on goal in football and the ball going out for a throw in.
@@TheRealPureBloodterrible analogy. don’t let the door hit you
I’ve never watched anything related to the WNBA until CC entered the picture. She’s made history!
I never heard of Terosi till Clark showed up
britney griner with the kawhi laugh took me out fr why she sound like chat gpt lmao
Lol... She didn't shatter the "MENS" record. Because she didn't play against MEN!
Jealousy is a sin, and this is a good example.
America’s sweethearts are Caitlin Clark and the Hawk Tuah chick
😂😂😂
LMFAO
CC learned from the Hawk!
That's the best take I have seen in ...ever!!
The question about whether Clark is/will be one of greatest hasn’t been answered. But no question she has attracted more attention to the WNBA! I watch whenever I can!
The worse her peers treat her the more popular she gets. Didn't Taurasi brag about kissing straight players to get in their head?
"...I won 3 National Champioships..." Says it All! Caitlin would always acknowledge THE TEAM EFFORT!! A CUT ABOVE!!
I only started watching basketball for the first time ever in my 60 years on this planet because of Caitlin Clark she is a good role model to young girls and boys and she is a good representation of the sport and that's only reason why I watch basketball.
Griner was in a Russia jail for having a vial of THC who was swapped for the Merchant of Death in a US prison who was the biggest arms dealer in the world, who now works in the Russian government.
Thank you Joe Biden
Oh no, what ever will we do now?
this person was in a MALE prison
You don't recall that campaign promise during Biden's campaign, oh wait he made that to Putin.
@@Steve-yr5vi WTF does this have to do with this Caitlin Clark story??
Add this to the list of why the WNBA continues to struggle as a league 🤦♂️
Cousins could literally stand in one place against griner and beat her. He could play from a wheelchair and beat her.
