Sophisticated, way cool, jazzy...the talent among the musicians involved in Steely Dan is beyond measure and the lyrics to their songs are so smart. The entire Aja album is fire - as is this one here. REELIN' IN THE YEARS AND DIRTY WORK are great songs from Can't Buy A Thrill, as well!

I was cruising with a girlfriend on 4th Street in Santa Rosa in my 1969, 396 Midnight metallic blue Chevelle with beer hidden. That's what I was doing. That was a fun time in the 70's. I think all the kids were on 4th Street cruising on a friday or Saturday night...it didn't matter if you had a hot car or not, we were there. Playing pool at the local billiards. Just having a great time.............Love Steely Dan. Thank you for playing that song, brought back allot of memories and people I haven't thought of for a long time...Great

You know, one of the things about being old is that you've heard a lot of songs. It seems like you've heard everything but good to remember them when it comes around.

Very cool album of theirs called Aja is their best imo. Cruised thru the 70s and 80s playing in the car, parties, at home. Getting into the instrumentals I see! We had it all then, real words and actual musicians

I was busy walking around Europe while in the Navy, with headphones and cassettes of Steely Dan, Jethro Tull, Blue oyster cult and Queen.. Now if you want to showcase some music, you definitely need to do Jethro Tull the most talented musician and stage performance since Beethoven.

This song was released the month I turned 13, so I wasn't doing anything wild back then (I promise)! Steely Dan was great (RIP Walter Becker). Donald Fagen and Walter were an awesome team! Jeff 'Skunk' Baxter played guitar with them until they announced they were not going to tour any more and he joined The Doobie Brothers (got to see them, they were great!). Jeff is a very interesting guy. Besides being a rock star, he is a missile defense consultant! (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeff_Baxter)

Teen in the 80's here. Undoubtedly the best time to be a teen imho. No phones, no cameras ;) lol. Sorry I'm late, I didn't have a quarter and couldn't find a phone anyway rofl. Really tho, Steely Dan was a mainstay in the portable cassette holder in the car. Played at the beach, pool parties, hangin' in the park, house parties, you name it. Along with BOC, KISS, Emerson Lake and Palmer, Aerosmith, Van Halen (some Van Hagar later), Sammy Hagar, the list is huge! And no, we weren't innocent lol, but the police were far more forgiving if you just listened to them and didn't give 'em any guff. Howdy (nickname for one of the constables, yes, his hair was that red lol, just don't say it in front of him) would normally just have us dump the beer or w33d on the ground before sending us on our way. Others would "confiscate" it ;) ;) Those were the days my friend, Cuervo gold and fine colombian :P
