    So the blazing last 50 will be Bobby Finke's signature move? That 23.8 split is roughly the same quality as his last 50 (26.4) in the Tokyo 800 free. That 25.8 he closed the 1500 with would convert to about 22-high for SCY?
    I recently listened to a podcast interview of Finke. He didn't really seem able to explain those closing splits. The interviewer asked him what his 50m free PB was. Finke said he hadn't been timed in one for maybe 3 years, but he remembered about a 25-mid. The interviewer remarked drily that Finke could probably break 25 now.
    Looking forward to watching his progress towards Paris '24.

    Everyone talking about Finke, I'm just surprised How hard Foster Choked. He added a second from prelims, while in all his other events (big12s and the 200 IM) he dropped significant amounts of time. When I saw the preliminary time I thought he was gonna go 3:34, because he also dropped 3 seconds at big12s. So dissapointing, he's a great swimmer but just not clutch. Same thing happened at 2019 wjr.

    What's up with the back to breast turn now essentially just a regular turn? In '05 we were still touching on our backs. These guys are incredibly fast and there's no diminishing that based on technicalities, just saying it's not exactly apples to apples as the rules progress. Another one is the monster fly kick out of every breaststroke pullout. We weren't allowed to do it. edit, even circa '08 Phelps was basically touching on his back.

    • @littlexanman
      @littlexanman 3 года назад +7

      No, you still have to touch on ur back, but there's now a faster way than a bucket turn. You turn on ur side instead.

      Also, as if you guys didn't do a butterfly kick in the splash off the start. That's litteraly why they started allowing it. Granted that doesn't cover the other 3 kicks but like come on.

    • @chatbud
      @chatbud 3 года назад

      IKR!! The way some of them are doing the back-to-breast turn, if you are standing on the deck adjudicating you can't see their face just b4 the turn, and that is ground for DQ.
