ASU’s Leon Marchard sets 200 IM record at NCAA Championships, Pac-12 earns top 3 spots

- Arizona State's Leon Marchard broke his own record in the 200 IM at the NCAA Championships at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Marchard earned the title with a 1:36.34 time. Cal's Destin Lasco and Hugo González finished second and third in the race. Lasco's 1:38.10 time set the new American record.

The crazy part is he could 1:35 if his free split was faster
He goes pedal to the metal from the start. By the time the freestyle comes around he's exhausted. He did swim a 40.5s split in the 4x100y freestyle relay so it's not like his freestyle isn't great, it's simply that he's finishing races on the emergency battery.

What is it going to take to get rowdy out of the booth. He has killed the hype of so many great swims by expecting records to be broken by more than feasible. Screaming "1:35! No!" when Marchand goes 1:36 or expecting Dressel to go 38 in the 1 free back in 2018. Just ruins the moment
