I find it hilarious that Michigan does nothing for over two decades and finally has a good run and it breaks the brains of every other fan base in the sport to the point of this constant asterisk nonsense when the reality is we beat five top 25 teams after the sign stealing came out and two of those games were without our head coach

For those who are confused about why UCF can claim a natty, it's because the ncaa does not award a national championship trophy for football. Instead, there are several "select pollsters" including the AP poll, CFP rankings etc. who make college football rankings. If a single one of those pollsters designates you as the number 1 team at the end of the season you can claim the national championship and be considered an official ncaa cfb champion. Generally most of these polls agree with the CFP/BCS rankings and other teams will not bother claiming the national championship even if they are selected by other pollsters, which means that the sole national title is granted to the winner of the cfp/bcs championship. Before the formation of the BCS there was generally a lot of controversy because there was no designated national championship game, so different polls would constantly pick different teams. However, even after the creation of the BCS, controversy still remained. In 2003, there were three major one loss teams: oklahoma, usc, and lsu. The BCS gave the 1 & 2 rankings to Oklahoma and LSU, and when LSU won the national championship game, they were awarded the BCS national championship. USC, who was given the third ranking and did not play in the national championship, went on to play #4 Michigan in the Rose Bowl, and after beating them, the AP poll thought that their resume was better than LSU's and that they had deserved a shot in the BCS national championship, so they awarded the #1 ranking to USC at the end of the year. Both LSU and USC claim the championship from that year. In 2017, the Colley Matrix, a computer system and select pollster, awarded the #1 ranking at the end of the season to UCF, allowing them to claim the national championship, which they did. Since 2003 the AP poll and BCS/CFP rankings have agreed on the national champion every year, but not all pollsters have agreed. For instance Colley has awarded 4 #1 rankings to a team that did not win the BCS/CFP title, but UCF is the only team who claimed the national title at the end of the year, so they are the only one recognized by the NCAA.

I got one you missed! The 1990 Colorado Buffaloes. In 1990, both Colorado and Georgia Tech were named National Champs as the AP and UPI picked different teams. Colorado finished 11-1-1, while GT finished 11-0-1, and UPI picked the Yellowjackets by ONE VOTE. This was further conplicated because one of Colorado's wins was against Missouri, and in that game the Buffs were the benefator of a ref mistake, earning a fifth down!

2011 Alabama is another one that deserves an asterisk. Bowl rematches of regular season games result in a tremendous advantage for the regular season loser, with 16 regular season losers winning 23 such contests and in six of the seven times one team lost both games the score was closer than it had been the first time. Contrast that with conference championship rematches in which the same team wins 60% of those contests. Either Oklahoma State or Stanford would have been a better choice to face LSU instead of putting the Tigers at such a clear disadvantage.
It may be expected that rematches in the CFP will not provide such an advantage to the regular season loser, except possibly if it takes places in the first round. The amount of time to game-plan based on the regular season game appears to be pivotal and naturally provides a greater benefit to the team that lost as they have more alterations to make than the team that won.

@@chrispowell6880 so we should asterisk the win just because “a mathematical system that combined polls and computer rankings” didn’t favor lsu because of external factors with rematches that doesn’t affect lsu in any way? Got it.

Great video, one critique for you.
Rewatch the video and take a shot every time you say the word “inherent” lol. The way you format your words is intelligent and well-written, but it doesn’t translate well to speaking. It sounds like you’re reading a college essay.
A little bit of informality and personality goes a long way when you’re presenting information rather than writing it. Take out some of those big words and think about how you can say the idea as directly as possible.
No hate here, btw. Keep up the good work

2017 UCF was named national champions by the Colley Matrix, an official NCAA major selector. It is unfair to fail to mention that fact. It is also wrong to hold it against UCF that they weren't selected for the CFP, as if the CFP is something other than a subjective process which in this case chose to disinclude an unbeaten team in favor of four teams that all had a loss. This isn't to say that UCF would have been able to beat any of the teams that were chosen for the CFP, only that it's unfair to hold it against them that they weren't given the opportunity to try.
