If you're doing a fluid change aren't you supposed to drain the fluid from the bottom of the power steering pump housing? If you only suck it out of the reservoir you're going to add fresh new fluid to all the old stuff that's still in the pump right?
That's what the manuel for my Columbia says. Plus, I'd be careful spraying brake cleaner on plastic. If that stuff gets to those o-rings or thin seals it could cause it to swell.
Can you disconnect that filter blue hose, fill reservoir with new oil start the truck and have the old oil in the system drain down until the new oil come out?
No sir try pulling the tube off is very difficult its a hard plastic feel but it's rubber and that joint dont budge. I did my last truck and ended up buying new hoses from damaging them trying to drain..
Once every 5 years or 300-500k miles. It’s not like engine oil with combustion, it’s a closed system like a rear end gearbox or transmission. So it depends on how you use the truck. Logging and dump trucks, or heavy haul may need sooner.
No your right but if you want to save money without replacing your hoses this is key.. u may get lucky by draining but from experience I broke hoses because the hose are so hard to pull off they end of breaking
Great instructional! 10-Q!!
My large cap is completely different without the ring. 2016 cascadia.

Right, that’s how I was told to drain it.

👍👍
My steering is very hard would that be because of filter or the pump
Pump
Sounds like you may need your ok pump replaced or rebuilt.. but you can start there
Got same issue did it work?
How often you change the filter?

That’s not the proper way of doing the power steering oil change on the DD15. The official instructions are in the Freightliner Maintenance Manual.
The Reviewer care to explain the proper way of doing it.?
Manuals waste of paper.

Who uses paper manuals nowadays? This is 2020, bro.

Using transmission fluid instead of power steering fluid is asking for trouble, for sure. Seen it, lived it, pay for it.
Got a part #
Drain it out
That was a waste of brake cleaner
