Finding this channel was a gift lmao I love weird niche videos like these
My dad's car had a DVD player that was actually inside the head rest. Screen was way tiny...that copy of shrek 2 stayed in there for years

I still have my Sony DVP-FX810 since 2007 and it works and looks like new. I bought it when I was working as a security guard and it was❤at first sight. Every other model after that, never tide the quality or the elegance of this DVD player. Inspiring video guys!

Had this as a teenager in 8th grade when they first came out in the UK around 1999. I don't remember them being this expensive. This was one of the best items i ever owned. I remember the feeling of putting in 'The Matrix' movie dvd and watching it in the comfort of my own privacy. I was the envy of all my friends at school.
On a separate note; I noticed you repeatedly said 'It feels uncomfortable' in terms of weight distribution etc - that's all relative, obviously compared to standards today this would not feel comfortable since we have a frame of reference as well as certain expectations for product design; but back then no-one really paid attention to the weight, usually this would sit on a table/desk or in my case i would put it on the bed and lie down in front of it. Since the screen could tilt up or down it accomodated different elevations, i.e. sitting at desk, lying down on bed, on your lap etc. The only noticeable problem was if you wanted to binge watch a few DVDs it would start to get noticeably warm underneath whcih was not ideal especially if it rested on your lap.
I remember the sound was quite loud considering it's size though slightly metallic sounding with not enough bass. This wasn't just a portable DVD player. This was a taste for the future and a sign of things to come. We were excited and in awe for what could be accomplished in the coming years.....

I had a cheap one growing up don't remember the name of it. Great on trips even if it skipped like hell on bumpy roads 😅

A lot of my friends had portable dvd players. As a kid I thought they were the coolest thing, never owned one growing up because my parents couldn’t afford one. Recently picked one up for $150, while the audio quality is a little low, it takes me back to the early 2000s. Ah nostalgia.

I have a portable DVD player that is very similar to the Sylvania that I got on Amazon a few years ago. I used for my son on long road trips. It’s honestly about the same quality too but it’s also practically indestructible.

Sylvania actually makes some good players , y'all might have a budget model which tbf is likely what's in most retail stores now anyways. The one I have has a sturdier build and also plays bluray , battery life is 5 hours at worst. Not as exciting as lightning McQueen though that thing is boss

That definitely sounds like a higher end model!
