to bad horizon is hands down the worst rc company, the 3xle should never have been sold any where. The piece of crap does not work in any situation. now I hear the Spektrum receiver sold with the Arrma rtrs cannot be binded to other Specktrum remotes, absolute scam of a company.
I prefer 3s. I sold my 6s Kraton and 6s Limitless. I got tired of charging 2 batteries each time, and replacing tires so often, and the heavy chassis was a dog on turns. The 3s Typhon weighs 44oz (1.3kg) less than the Typhon 6s. The extra weight of the 6s makes it handle worse on turns, the extra power of the 6s is kinda wasted on just having to move a larger chassis. 3s is also easier to work on, cheaper and more easier to find parts, and you can use an extra battery for twice the run time, instead of using two batteries on a 6s for 1 run.
I’m torn between which one to get but your comment sums up my thoughts as well. I have the 3s Vorteks and I love that thing. With that said, “only” being 3s, the Vorteks will still shred tires and pop wheelies all day long. 6s on either platform seems overkill. The only reason I want the typhon 6s is for the cool factor. It is definitely more of a machine but that doesn’t translate to better performance for my personal use. Speaking on the typhon in general, do you find that the platform stays relatively clean after running in dirt? My Vorteks gets filthy inside, whereas my brothers Losi Lasernut stays 95% clean after runs which makes me quite jealous.
@kez850 I got the 6s. Even then the op's comment is flawed. If 6s is too much, just use 3s or 4s batteries or switch to a lower power state when running 6s. It's a tough beast, and the weight keeps it from breaking for when you bash. Get the 6s. You'll regret it cause you'll upgrade the 3s anyway 😂
Being an owner of a 6s v2 Typhon i can definitely see some benefits of a lighter chassis. All my extra weight is noticeable on a track and landings are that much harder. Its heavy compared to other models out and makes competing more of a challenge. 3s typhon might perform better in some instances as for speed challenges and distance jumps " i bet it floats better"!!! On a track with only 2 diffs could be a big drawback as well. As for durability im never a fan of plastic parts because they tend to be more prone to breaking. Time will tell. I like what arrma did and i understand they didnt want to design another chassis and just share the sentons but this 100% should've been a true 1/10 buggy. A huge plus for me is the 2s and 3s capable. This is alot more affordable to run and its easier to buy batteries. I can buy 4ct 2s batteries for the price of 1ct 4s. You can drive the baby typhon for hours vs the other.
I just bought the 3s but have to wait a few weeks for delivery. By the time I get it, I’ll have a 20t pinion and some big bore aluminum shocks for it. Even those included, it’s much less than the 6s and will still be able to go well over 50 mph easy. At the $300 price point, the Typhon 3s may be the best deal for a fast off-road RC out there right now. Nice comparison. 👍🏻
And just a tip for all u blx3s 4x4 owners.....dremel the holes out a little on the motor mount to free up the stress on the gear mesh. That’s why it’s so noisy!!!! ITS NOT BECAUSE OF 32pitch gears!! It’s because the gear mesh is way to tight from factory. Free that up and watch your truck run super quiet, cooler temps, and a lot smoother
I’ve got the 6S and it’s so damn powerful. Of the 12 cars I have all of which were well over 400 dollars US none will hold a candle to the typhon 6S. Granted most are 3S and 4S. I thought I had fast cars until I got that one.

Just put the xr8 200 amp 6S 2250kv HW combo in my talion and it’s off the charts fast. This post was directly after I got my first 6S the Typhon. Which was my first experience with 6S power. Compared to the 3S cars I had run before that it was shocking.
You should review the new 1/6 8S Losi Super Rock Rey Rock Racer. People have just been getting the first examples in the past two days and the first initial runs and unboxing vids have just gone up in about the last 24 hours. RCSparks has said he will not be doing a review so it would be a good opportunity for you. Due to bigger tires that are outside the body and the lower KV motor, it is more powerful and jumps better than its cousin: The Losi Super Baja Rey Trophy Truck. People are really excited about it. Length and width are about the same as a Traxxas X-MAXX but finally in an awesome Rock Racer form. It jumps, handles well, crawls rock, it does everything. Could be the Ultimate RC for all.
Im actually amazed traxxas hasnt done this 1st with so many ppl making the backlash 4wd buggy - not like they listen to customers opinion anyway😂. Lets see if they find a new lame way to sue arrma again for this one.....NERO FOREVER!

I got my hands on a Typhon 3s Tuesday it was my LHS demo model for a great price, I had my old stock Granite 3s bumper I put on it, It looks pretty tough! And it gives it more protection for the front end

just calculated the kinetic energy of 3s typhon and 6s typhon with the kinetic energy formulae. 3s: 0.5*2.6*22.352*22.352 = 649.5 j and 6s: 0.5*3.45*26.8224*26.8224 = 1241.0 j. Just thought id post this to show the 3s system fits with the weight and top speed and that 6s is using roughly double the power / has double the KE at top speed.

I wish more rc's would run the split tray configuration for the batteries. It's just so much better for the balance and when you run really big packs half of your car is not drooping down on one side...

I have a 3s and it is fast enough very powerful rc . It's definitely not for kids .. very fast off the line and top speed 53 miles an hour The only problem is the battery lasts 20 minutes each charge time you play.. that is why I have three batteries so I can play for 1 hour. 🦾🤩
I just snagged the demo model from my LHS. They don't show them until they hit the stores anyway being a Traxxas sponsored Hobbytown. They also didn't mind the purchase at all.
By farrr I superbly recommend getting 3s it's good for starts like me at the hobby and it teaches jumps and skills needed🤌🏻 as I'll get a 6s tuned model next then get a Hobao and a Koyosho MP9e. It's like trading cards you get to build up your Rack for RCs and Skills!

And so what were saying here is there is no metal chassi for 3s and if you break the pin slot for the arms on a bashing spree mean your whole is useless and your dif covers if you break the shock tower which by all means I do recommend the 6s models too but the 3s is good to just the design is what sucks

I have the new granite 4x4 blx and running the V3 2050kv 4074 motor with stock esc on 3s with 26tooth pinion clocked in just under 60mph front wheels can’t hold them down at that speed. Yes it’s faster than the stock motor and stock pinion but the torque is unreal. Almost to the point of being useless for the little truck. But it sure is fun

You will not go any faster with the 8th scale system in it. It has a lower kv rating per volt. So total rpm on 3s on the 10th scale system will be much higher than the rpm on the 8th scale system on 4s unless you can gear it to the moon, but we are not sure how big of a pinion and how small of a spur you can fit. Or you can be a total masochist and try to run this thing on 6s.
well...someone did a tear down of the Senton...It has PLASTIC Bevel and ring gear to the diff. Sh%$#T....I'd be scare to run it 2s 50C...with the ESC turn on high. You want Fast..Go Full metal ( high Grade steal).and duct tape the tires. Those stock tires would get worn out quick You cant just slap in a power house without tearing it up oneway or the other.lol By the time you do the song and dance..just becuase it's some what cheap out of the box, at first. Save yourself time. money and heartaches..just get a rig that's design to go fast,
@David M Dont have an arma..Got KingsMotor roller for $100..becuase he couldnt removed the damn locite and center diff was slippin. It's a tank 4mm chassis out of box..beefy parts all the way around soak in oil...shimed the diff..slap in 4076 2250KV on 18T pinon 120A esc turn on High..4s 50C 5000 mah. on 30mm hex extention and ducttape terramoto 6 1/2" monster wheels and tires...popwheels on command and will do 50-55 mph..it's 12lb contraptions.... You know why those 1/5 losi strip thier gears??? it a freaken 22lb contraption....You have to understand....the freaken Motor JAms the gears on RC truck/cars contraption....not like a regular car with disc breaking system...The faster and heavier it is..the more hell it is on the gears.....Anyways, got tired of getting 10-15 air. Been flying air planes.2217 -1100KV on 40Amps 3300 50C mah 10-x6 props....it's over killed..but I like to burn holes in the sky and fly more than 5 mins :-P Most people would do 30A 30C 2200mah....Higher C ratings dumps electrons more and faster = POWER

I got both and you can't go wrong with either. You could upgrade the esc for the 3s to power 4S batteries, same concept with 6S.

You forgot to include the fact that the 3s version has a solid driveline while the 6s has a center diff with 2 dog bones as drivelines

Would love to, but the 6S typhon was on loan from work, so not likely to happen. Maybe if I ever get the V4 Typhon in the future, I might do it then. 😉

For the price difference you might as well go for the 6s and if your really bothered you could run it on 3s haha.

I know it’s brushless for Lipo but. Does it take 5000 NIMH battery 🔋s. I suck at taking care of my Battery’s. I’ll eventually get a Into lipos. THERE SO HARD TO TAKE CARE OF.
I've got the same 6s typhon. Do you guys notice it seems to send more drive through the front wheels? From a standing stop it always seems to balloon the front tires?
You should fill 100k diff oil into the mid diff to avoid that

Will the 6S run on 2S or 3S
it will run 3s, but it's pretty slow that way
You will not go any faster with the 8th scale system in it. It has a lower kv rating per volt. So total rpm on 3s on the 10th scale system will be much higher than the rpm on the 8th scale system on 4s unless you can gear it to the moon, but we are not sure how big of a pinion and how small of a spur you can fit. Or you can be a total masochist and try to run this thing on 6s.

well...someone did a tear down of the Senton...It has PLASTIC Bevel and ring
gear to the diff. Sh%$#T....I'd be scare to run it 2s 50C...with the ESC turn on high. You want Fast..Go Full metal ( high Grade steal).and duct tape the tires.
Those stock tires would get worn out quick

soak in oil...shimed the diff..slap in 4076 2250KV on 18T pinon 120A esc
turn on High..4s 50C 5000 mah. on 30mm hex extention and ducttape terramoto 6 1/2" monster wheels and tires...popwheels on command and will do 50-55 mph..it's 12lb contraptions....
You know why those 1/5 losi strip thier gears??? it a freaken 22lb contraption....You have to understand....the freaken Motor JAms the gears on RC truck/cars contraption....not like a regular car with disc breaking system...The faster and heavier it is..the more hell it is on

Most people would do 30A 30C 2200mah....Higher C ratings dumps electrons more and faster = POWER
@David M I'll probably get back into it again when the weather gets cooler. There's a cool dirt area where I fly at. Take my truck and buggies too :-P . My modified XTM is beefier and more percision than my RC8
