People that don’t own a Kia will continue to belittle and make fun of them, but they have no idea what they’re missing out on. I’ve owned the 7 speed DCT 21 Forte GT in snow white pearl for about 6 months now, and it’s still puts a smile on my face every time I drive it. I could go on and on about the things I enjoy, some of which include the lovely exhaust drone, the comfortable bolstered seats, the sporty rims, the modern interior, the looks, etc. it’s just a phenomenal all around car and I get so many looks from other people on the road. I have my car also tinted in full 3M ceramic tint so there’s a high contrast between sparkly brilliant white and deep gloss black ceramic tint. It’s a very premium feeling car. My one complaint is the road noise but that could be due to having such new tires. I leased this car but still only have driven about 7k miles so far. For anyone driving a boring Honda, Toyota, or Nissan, yes, it’s MUCH faster than the lower trim options on any of those cars. I’m too lazy to want to drive stick so don’t start talking about the Civic Type R or Toyota 86; not interested and I couldn’t be happier with this little beast. Zero mods but in sport mode this thing really comes alive and sounds great. If you’re tired of being conned by Honda and Toyota and desire a more thrilling daily drive, this won’t disappoint and it also won’t break your wallet. I think will all fees added the end price was like $23,500 because I didn’t opt for premium speakers. 9/10 from me just wish it was a little quieter on the road and wish it handled a little better in corners. I previously owned a focus SE, which had superior handling but was handicapped by a horrible automated dual clutch transmission. after I buy out my lease, I plan on keeping this car. I love every second of owning one so far and getting it serviced with my local Kia dealership has been a breeze.

I read Car & Driver's review of this car. They said at it's limit it's not as good as the Civic Si, or the Jetta GLI.
Attending the ST academy after buying my 2019 Fiesta ST I realized I don't drive any car anywhere near it's limit.
I sold my Fiesta after realizing I was taking way too many chances when driving it.
I was looking for a new fun car that wasn't too much money. The Civic SI is now $30,000 plus. The Jetta GLI is at least $32,000. My 2024 Kia Forte GT was $25,410. It is a lot of fun, and I don't need to drive it at it's limit to have fun.

I was in a severe accident in a 2010 Forte. SUV T-boned us going 40 mph. Completely totaled the car. All the windows blew out. The side was smashed in so bad that the wheel ended up bent up under the car and the door was pushed up against my leg. All my airbags deployed.
I walked out with a sore shoulder for a couple days.
For my first new car, I bought a 2022 Forte. And I plan on it being my child’s first car. I trust kia with my life, they’ve already saved it once.

I came from Acura and Infiniti ownership for 3 decades to buy a 2020 Kia Optima SX. I couldn't be more happier with the car and impressed. Last car was a 2016 Q50 Red Sport. Wanted to get out of the 50k car range and found real value with this KIA. In fact I have features like Panoramic Roof, Ventilated Seats, and motorized directional headlamps that I didnt even have in my Infiniti. I have had not one issue with the car to take back to the dealer...Just Oil Changes and Im going on 4 years old. Cant say that for Infiniti as I was going to have to get the drivers side window motor replaced before I got rid of it. It was rolling up like a toy with a weak battery. My daughter has a 2010 Hyundai Elantra with 75k miles and we haven't even done work on the brakes yet. Just tires, oil changes, new Battery and wipers. You couldn't ask for more reliability in my experience.

Only thing, when i got into the back roads for dynamic driving, the rear beam suspension was not good, making the rear end upset and quite disconnected with the front, i sold it to buy my current Mazdaspeed 3. Had a 2018 Elantra GT Sport. Same engine and transmission as what you are reviewing. Just a hatchback. Picked it over a GTI as it was about 9k less than a comparably equipped GTI. Sold it in 21 as work provided a car and the market was red hot. Now I have purchased a 24 M2 and love it( yes the big Lego BMW lol) I miss that Elantra 1.6 turbo and dct from time to time(has more features than the M2). My wife is about to be in the market for a vehicle and she said she picks the 18 Elantra GT sport over the M2 any day...An for about 1/3 the price its closer to 2/3 or 3/4 the car. Hope to get this platform back in the mix again. BTW, your reviews are outstanding & half the reason I put an order in for the m2 a while back. Keep the great content goin.

I got my 2021 Kia Forte GT-Line a few months ago after ordering it, and I am absolutely in love with it. I paid about $22k for it, but the interior quality is that of BMW or others like that. I have a cloth/leather seat combo with white piping to match the exterior snow white pearl paint color I chose. Its a solid car with a spunky engine and it really gives when you switch it into sport more. I've read a lot of reviews talking about how great the car is. But solely due to using a GT badge, they dog on it for not being a souped up hellcat or something. They don't give it any other negative comments other than using a GT badge and not being up to their standard of performance. Then give it a score less than a similarly priced car with lesser performance and less features.

I bought the 2021 Kia Forte GT1 back in October of 2020. At the time I believe there were 3 models, the GT, GT1, and GT2. Needed to buy my then, 18 year old daughter, a car. We looked at all kinds of cars from Civic, Corolla, Jeep Renegade, Mazda 3, Chevy Trax, Elantra, Nissan Sentra, etc. She had her heart set on the new redesigned Mazda 3 which is a really nice car, but oh hell no, daddy not spending $30k on your first car. Who knew the Mazda 3 is $30k? Then one day we test drove the Kia Forte and she did not like it. The base model is pretty ugly I have to agree. Another Kia dealer had called saying they had a Kia Forte GT which has a complete different drive to it etc etc. so we went and test drove it and my daughter absolutely loved it. Very different than the base model. They were not coming down on price. It was a small dealer. So I located one of the more larger dealers in my area that was about an hour away that had quite a few of the GT Models on their lot. Called them up and it was the most easiest car buying experience ever. Made them an offer over the phone. A little back and forth and they accepted. Drove that weekend to the dealer, bought the car, took it to my sisters house and parked it in her garage for a while, and then surprised my daughter with it for her 18th birthday. Having had the car for 1.5 years now, I can say it is a fun drive, has a great exhaust note, and runs great. My daughter loves it. And for those of you wondering, the car had a MSRP of $25k and I got the car for $20k out the door.

The chassis tune is a spot on balance of nearly no body roll and great damping. The 1.6 is so unbelievably choked that just running an intake and a D.P. with no tune has uncorked boost like crazy. Changing a couple more soft pieces of intake plumbing may be all I need to improve the power is so good now. I Suggest everyone check out this Forte with either trans, for the cash these cars are extremely worthwhile dual personality gems.

I have the exact same car but mine is in snow white pearl. It has a lot of cool features like changing the color of the interior gt logo on the dash and the ambient lighting. The dealership can install under dash lighting that changes colors to what ever you want. The sound system is pretty good with the gt2 package. The only thing I don't like about the car so far is the apple and android car play is not wireless.

although this competes with the new Civic Si, the Si interior will never be beat. Honda really outdid themselves, very simple design, easy to use, stylish, pretty much everything the driver could need close by.

agreed, but i wish honda had just gone ahead and given the us market most of the features the canadian market gets - there's a lot of competition in the segment that offer an AT too, but i understand that honda wasn't willing to reduce their margins on the si in the us. hopefully they'll add in a lot of those features over the next year or two...

Honda is overrated now. They’re living on past laurels and their widely constant selling point is “reliability”.

Fantastic review. While i visually prefer the pre-facelift look, these 2022 pack a lot of tech and creature comforts that I am looking for. I'm starting to get the itch to trade in my aging 2013 Dart and this pretty much ticks all the boxes for me in a compact sedan upgrade. Radar cruise, lane keep assist, dual zone auto climate, great sound system, blind spot monitoring, the tried and true 1.6T and 7DCT. The only thing it appears to be missing is heated wheel. Canada models have it so I may hold out and see if we get it in a follow-up year.
