- The Forte GT is Kia's smallest sedan. On the outside of the GT you will find a unique front fascia, 18in wheels, trunk lid spoiler & dual-outlet exhaust. On the inside you will be greeted by sport seats, flat bottom GT steering wheel and 10.25in infotainment screen. Under the hood is a 1.6L turbocharged inline-4 that produces 201HP & is mated to a 7-speed DCT or 6-speed manual. Is the 2023 Kia Forte GT a BETTER sport compact car to buy than a Honda Civic Si?

Not only do the reviews have good detail but Joe's sense of humor is priceless.
I purchased my 2023 Kia Forte GT2 around a year ago. I got the Electric Blue colored one with the sunroof and extra added benefits like the wireless charging, synthetic leather red trimmed seats with the heating and cooling seat effects and more. Mine is the 7-speed DCT. This is BY FAR the most gorgeous and underrated vehicle ever. I was originally going to grab a K5 or a Stinger. But I wanted something new and eye catching. This past year I’ve had more people ask me about my car than ever. I decided to take it out to my friends track to test the power on this thing. Come to find out it actually pushes around 210-215 HP. I also peaked top speed at around 132 MPH (BY TRACK). This car is absolutely perfect by all standards. The back end is perfect. I find no issues or flaws with this vehicle. I don’t like how the guy in the video was deflecting the added details on this car. Kia made the forte GLOW UP in SOOO many ways. If you would’ve told me to get a 2022 or older, I would’ve laughed in your face. The older models have NOTHING on this new sleek design and power push. This car is absolutely perfect, from the interior, the exterior and the power. I HIGHLY recommend this beautiful car.
Also what he didn’t cover is that the interior GT badge and lighting along the doors and dash are customizable. No need for interior LEDs :) this thing is crazy cool!
I’m look at the 2024 Kia forte gt2 package . Look phenomenal . And I like the reviews I’m seeing . I haven’t found a video on the stereo system but I heard it comes with subs
Just bought one with the GT2 package and I absolutely love it. Best bang for the buck in my opinion.
That is so very fantastic! Congrats!
I’m loving the GT shown here. Coming from a 2014 Fiesta SE this is very comfortable to slip into.. actually very comparable vehicles! The turbo gives a different feel, and everything else is just what I wish my Fiesta was. That being said, I’d more closely compare this to the Fiesta ST, especially with the GT2 package I’d imagine 😅
0-60 about 6.3 secs that Kia scoots ! Years again a Porsche 944 turbo was 5.9 secs 0-60. Raiti’s the best ! 😀
Great info and thanks for the support!
Just bought a '23 GT2 in Steel Grey. Came down to it, the Civic Si, and the Mazda3 Sedan. Ended up choosing the GT2 ultimately due to the technology, comfort, and overall features, plus the DCT was all the fun in a manual and then some. Saves my left knee, and it has some real snappy shifting. 1200 miles in so far, and I love it.
I'm with you bro 🎉🎉🎉
How much did you pay for it if you don’t mind sharing that info?
@@maniaks710 about $29,100 OTD.
Man, we had the exact same situation going on haha. I’m really enjoying it so far.
I really cant decide between mazda3 turbo, Forte GT or Jetta GLI
Seeing you demo this car, on the dealer lot, makes me wish all car salesmen were as knowledgeable and cool as you, Joe Raiti. It would make the car buying experience much more enjoyable.
No dealership could afford you though. Even if they threw in treats/snacks. 😜
Just look at the way he handles the trunk. Very talented salesman indeed. 😂
I love my Kia Forte! Very underrated vehicle.
If you drive this vehicle hard and most people probably will, i would change the oil at 3-4,000 miles. It will go a long way in making sure that engine and turbocharger will last as long as possible. Also, change the tranny fluid every 30-40k. Those DCT trannys are not cheap. Just trying to help those thinking about buying one.
thanks I was going to get one today but they sold all of them.
I agree about the oil changes, use synthetic. I changed the stock Kumho tires, which were just OK, to Michelin Pilot Sport. It made a big difference on ride, and handling.
Hey Joe... greetings from Price Edward Island Canada...had my 23 GT limited fir 2 months...great car...was 5k less than the SI and had more tech... heated/cooled seats... heated rear seats...heated steering wheel... great gas mileage so far....anyone i take for a ride cant believe how quick it is....for anyone looking for a compact sedan i would definitely add this to the option list ... great review...love the channel!!
Joe always makes a special mention when reviewing the armrest. memories of his past and what we could do as humans. It's like a kind of internal catharsis. Greetings from Chile. I love this channel.
Have a 2022 Forte gt manual with 13,000 miles and love everything about it and this is coming from an owner of a 2021 Civic-type R.
How’s it now? I’m thinking of buying a used 22’ forte gt 6 speed manual with 11k miles on it.
Picking mine up monday(: glad to see your newer review of the model
I’ve had my 2022 GT manual for almost a year now and I’ve loved it!

I got my 2023 Forte GT (manual transmission) on October 2022. I had to wait like three months for it as they are kind of rare to find in US. I love the car!

I got my 6 month ago and I am very happy and thank you Joe for help me to making the decision to the Kia Forte GT 2023 ❤ 🙏❤️❤️❤️👍🏻
Bought my 22 Sporty Blue GT with GT2 Package in November of 21, got lucky to get my hands on one as was the first to own one in my area here in Augusta, GA. I swapped out the factory tires with a set of Bridgestones much better ride. I also had a Forte GT hood decal put on mine. I also have 250HP cominh from engine, i have the DCT version. Anybody looking for a great, fun and sporty car with the acceleration without breaking yourself this is the car. I traded in my 21 GT for the 22. The GT comes with and without the GT2 package, if a person can afford it, i recommend the extra few thousands for the GT2 package as you got alot of options for the price. Im over 6 foot tall and i have no problem with comfort. I made a trip to Florida the 1st weekend in June and actually averaged about 40mpg on just straight Interstate driving. Great car.
Love my 2023 GT2. Surprised you haven’t reviewed the manual GT. Hard to find but please review one for us.
Lovely Video- Youa re getting better daily! Best wishes. Take Care.
I just got a one today in black and I am really happy with it. I was originally looking for a charger but didn’t want to pay the price right now as I’m wedding planning. Had the original 2010 Forte years ago and it was a great car. This GT is much sportier and the features are so nice! It’ll scratch my itch for a sporty car until I get my charger in a few years. 😂 thank you for being so informative, you helped solidify that my decision today wasn’t bad!
As someone who loves a family member's charger but is also wedding planning with a lease that ends in December, this was great to hear!

Just got mine last month i absolutely love it, do many ppl are shocked its a kia 😂 i did a delete and added quad tips and a serious sound system because im an audio freak but man so many ppl love it
I have a GT2 in this color and I love it. It's fast, tons of features that most cars in this class or price point don't even offer. The exhaust sounds just right. I did add my own sub to boost the HK system, and I added ambient lighting under the dash and back seats, and got the adapter to make the CarPlay wireless. Wish the steering wheel was heated, wish they offered awd. Memory driver seat wouldn't hurt. Also wish the rear turn signals were led and integrated into the upper tail lights like he said. But otherwise it's great. I love driving it. Its fun and comfortable, and i get compliments on it constantly.
For the price and the amount of features it comes with I think it’s great! 26k ish for top level trim, I really wanna get one myself. How’s the maintenance and mileage? I’m torn between this a civic and a Camry
@@JellysaucewalkerI just got mine gt 2 package. I’m 1500 miles in, I did my first oil change at 1000. My brother actually works at Kia as a mechanic and has every good thing to say about my car. He isn’t a Kia fan, he’s a Ford driver, but he’s thinking about trading in his car for a Forte Gt. Oil change is expensive but I get employee discount. Gas tank is smaller than my Cruze I had before so I’m pumping maybe once a week, (I’m always in sport mode 😅) yet mpg I’m even in sport mode and driving super fast I still get 29-31mpg! For me it just seems like I’m pumping more frequently bc of the smaller gas tank. But we’ll worth it. I’m very happy and in love.

Been a great car so far. Has 30k miles already on it and it’s been flawless so far. Getting 37mpg easily on the highway.
And it is more affordable than the Civic. I have the Elantra N line. Still getting use to the dual clutch. Still fun car to drive.
I have the 2023 with the GT2 package in Sporty Blue. I love it. I've had it almost a year and still love it. It has a huge trunk, so fun to drive in sport mode.
I like big trunks 😊
@maoinc13 you do you boo. lol Trucks are nice but are gas hogs.

Great review just bought 2023 kia forte and I love it
Traded in my already paid for 2020 civic SI sedan for this car in manual. I got a lot of my civic SI (only lost 1800$ from what I paid for it) and paid sticker for this car. So glad I did it. It's actually much more comfortable to ride in than the civic SI. I love the warranty too. I'd do it all over again
I owned the 11th gen civic si for a year until it got totaled. I picked up this in manual as my new ride and it's 100% the better value and car overall. If we got the Canadian version the civic is probably better, but in the US you get sooo much more in this car. Not to mention there are some things with the civic that annoyed me: no engine temp, horribly slow infotainment, android auto not working 10% of the time, electronic parking brake, no backlight of climate control buttons, no spare tire, no low washer fluid warning, less flexibility with controls (such as parking camera only on when in reverse vs. Button for camera in GT), having to manually turn off auto stop-start on every drive, ect. Only significant things missing from GT is the LSD, civic shift knob is more premium on si, and no rev matching, but otherwise this car is far better.
Dude my si the digital screen went out sometimes on it own. This tachometer is really pretty with he purple and white leds
Great work as always. Happy Saturday dude

Hi Joe Excellent Review as allways 👍🍻Steven Did A Great job 👍 . I was reading some comments about this car & brand I dont think Some people know The History of Hyundai Corporation they build Construction Equipment & They have their Own Still Company. That is why their Vehicles are Cheaper than the Competition. As far as The DCT Transmissions They Won In Weather Tech Racing 🏁🏆1&2 against sedan class Honda & Toyota & Subaru & Nissan &Audi . They hired People from Audi BMW Porsche Lamborghini &, Toyota to Contribute Across the board. Some people are Brand Snobs. The company come a long way they still improving.

Love it. I just bought the GT manual 2 weeks ago in Snow White pearl. It has the heated seats the sunroof and the sound system. Also dealer installed ceramic tint. It’s way better of an every day driver than the civic. The gas mileage is absolutely incredible as well. I was using double the amount of gas in the compass I had previously.
Dealer techs are the last people you want installing tint.
Ceramic tint rules. Nice ride
Im jealous lol. They look good in white too. Enjoy it.
@@billbigshlong382 they usually bring it to a tint shop actually but I can’t say that’s what happens but usually
Forte GT manual is a good car, I choose one over a Civic SI (had an opportunity to buy the SI at MSRP, but just liked the Forte GT better)… but, the SI definitely gets better gas mileage than the GT. You can drive the SI like you stole it and still get better MPGs than you would if you drove the GT like a grandma.
I've got a '21 Forte GT with the 7 speed DCT and it's a really fun car. Put it in sport mode and it's a blast. Also, I love the exhaust sound, better than I expected. All in all, for a MSRP of around $24k when I bought it, it's a great value and fun for the money.
Same here, for 25k that was a steal!
Almost spit my food out when he said DCT! Couldn't believe it.
I think the key thing about this vehicle that really sets it apart from anything in its price range is the fact it has a freaking DCT transmission. Imagine if they had put a CVT in it? - I highly doubt it would be selling the way it is. Kia has really knocked it out of the park with this car and the price they charge. 1.6 Liter Turbo DCT, just put it in sport mode and from the very moment you take off at the lights the first gear gives you such a powerful launch.
The new elantra and sonata for 2024 are looking gorgeous so i held off for similar price too ( the new elantra)

Joe, i’ve been watching you for almost a yr. You’ve helped out a lot. As someone who reviews many different cars, what’s your opinion on the 2024 Forte’s? Currently researching vehicles on a budget and am a bit skeptic about Kia’s reliability. If i take care of it well, should i be okay?
Thanks for being so supportive and tuning in. I personally would stick with a Mazda 3, Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla
Change the stock KUMHO tires. I did to Michlin Pilot Sports, for better handling, better ride, and since I'm 70 years old, tire spin off the line doesn't matter anymore. Why, I don't floor it from a stop. I did plenty of that with my 1973 340 Cuda, and then with my 1975, Trans Am, with the 400 4-barrel engine. Of course, I was 20 and then 23 years old, respectfully.
I will be getting a new car this Summer and it will most be the 2023 Forte GT with the GT2 package. I currently drive a 2013 Forte Koupe and its been a very reliable car

I related to the pizza roll joke so much 😂😂
Had the Hyundai Elantra GT N-line version of this with the same engine and DCT, it actually felt great to drive and I even brought it to tail of the dragon and to a few tracks. Only reason I got rid of it was it was ROUGH on long rides and started being unreliable after the 3 year mark at only 25k miles. The wind noise and vibrations above 60 mph is crazy. My fuel pump, alternator, several electrical components were replaced and there were several issues with the DCT at low speeds.
If Audi has troubles with the shifttronic double clutch name, I don’t want to know how KIA is going to be.
This is exactly what I'm afraid of, problems. Were they fixed under warranty at least? Going for the manual so the dct won't be an issue.
This is a very nice option for the price.
I have a 2023 KIA Forte GT. I bought in July last year. Just turned 12,000 miles and not one single problem, not a single rattle or squeak. I drove to NJ in June an was averaging around 38 mpg at 70 mph. The only issues I have is the stereo isn’t the greatest and the headlight sensor is very sensitive. Drive under a tree and it will tell you your headlights are off. Other than those issues I love my steel grey GT.
that turn signal really annoy me otherwise this vehicle overall is awesome .. thank you Raiti's Rides awesome review.

I've always had a thing for the Forte Gt. I got outran by a damn base model in my Dart Rallye 2.4 multi air II with TCU tune up to 115 in Mexico of course. 5 months ago the Civic SI was $28000? November of 2023 you won't find one less than $30k. I just bought a 2024 Kia Forte GT, $25,410. Love it. The Elantra N-line is $27,000 new, the GTI is $33,000 new, the GLI is $31,000 new November 2023.

I drove the Forte GT, but it had a manual. I want something performance oriented, so the Forte GT is definitely a vehicle I'd consider for my next ride. The Civic Si and Jetta GLI are others that I'd consider.
I have a 2023 GT2 and I find it interesting that no one mentions that the interior dashboard GT symbol and the door panels light up at night when you turn the car on. Also no one really explains what smart mode actually does I’m still trying to figure that one out.
From what I was reading in my manual, I think it cycles between an eco mode, normal, and sport depending on how aggressively you drive. It would be nice to get more details on that!
