My 2009 Chevy Cobalt doesn't respond to my key fob, tried replacing it but it never worked. went to the trunk because i tried unlocking the door with the key instead of the fob and as soon as i did the car alarm went off, and couldn't be shut off unless you unhooked the battery. dug some more in the trunk and found out that the THICKER wire in the trunk that goes to the battery is corroded to hell. can anybody help me identify the thicker wire in the top right at 3:54?

I have to replace the battery in my 2009 Pontiac G5. I have to do it on my own and I'm pretty nervous. I've watched your video a few times but I don't seem to have a tube like that in my car? Also this is the first car I've had that has the battery in the trunk. This car has been a complete lemon, but I just don't have the extra money for anything else.
Thanks for the informative video. My fingers are crossed that I do it without electrocuting myself.

It may have been broken by someone else, they break easy...just make sure any lights or accessories are off..disconnect negative first and it should go smoothly..only risk of sparks is if u hit or contact negative to positive with something metal...thats why u wanna disconnect negative terminal first cause if u hit something metal its just touching ground to ground.

    • @backyardchevy328

The wire caught on fire? Any chance the battery was installed in reverse with the battery plus side going on the black terminal and vice versa? That could happen if the battery was installed opposite..or also if the red battery cable has the insulation damaged and is touching metal..most everything else on the car should be protected from that happening by fuses
