There is a way for you to reprogram your key. It's a little process tho. I had to do it myself and looked on Google. You gotta wait 10 min. Turn key to on. Then back off. Let sit for 10 minutes then repeat again. Don't attempt to actually crank it over till after the 3rd time
Save yourself the trouble, try your other key is with the guy says. If that's not the problem turn your key to the run position, wait 10 minutes, turn it off and back to the run position, turn it off, turn it to the run position and wait 10 minutes, turn it off, and for the final time turn it to the run position and wait 10 minutes. Turn it off and then try to start it. That will reprogram the key to your car.
I've been trying to figure out what's wrong with my cobalt. it's been sitting a while. in the past, I never had a problem with disconnecting the battery in the winter so it doesn't go dead. then, I connect the battery again and it doesn't start, not even a click from the starter. I'm here trying to trace it down from the starter to the relays and fuses, back to the ignition, I can't find the problem. I only just came across this tonight, I bet it's that stupid security thing. thanks for the video, I'll give it a try tomorrow. I don't remember seeing any odd lights or messages on the dash, but they are easy to ignore when the engine isn't running.
You can take key out by removing this small panel underneath the steering wheel and pressing an off whitish colored button. You’ve probably figured out the permanent fix by now though.
when you get other key, make sure it starts your car then take it out of ignition, wait 10 seconds...put it back in and turn to on ( do NOT start), wait 5 seconds and remove from ignition. Now, insert the key that would not start you car, turn it to on (not start) wait 10 seconds and turn off and remove from ignition. wait 10 seconds, insert this key that would not start, it will start your car because you have just reprogrammed it!
Do I put the key in on position or crank position I recharge the battery it went dead and I have the pad lock on now it cranks from the engine but not from the key
So I don’t have another key. I only have the one so can i just not fix my car? Mine doesn’t show all lights just the check engine and the padlock symbols. Can anyone help me please?
Look up key reset on Google. Make sure you have a battery charger on your battery so it doesn't go dead. You have to leave the ignition on for 10 minutes 3 times to reprogram your key to the pcm
Yea same here bro. Sorry to hear.. all these people saying do the key relearn thing 🤦🤦🤦 that shit don't work bro at least not for me ive tried everything lol nothing works it's now at the point when ever I connect a battery to my car the alarm just goes off in tell I disconnect it lol

For my car, the mechanic said the reason was a grounding issue.
it was a dead battery that caused that lock to engage. I got the battery tested. Bought a new battery and that was it.

That locked poped upon on my dad's and it wouldn't let him take the key out of the starter

The key is unlocked so what do i need to get another key and how i got a new engine installed I'm trying the 10 minutes thing also
If you got a new engine installed and the ten minute thing does not work you need to check fuses and grounds
