Maybe a bit specific but when we're talking about footboards height, the geometry behind the direct drive link and how it changes feel is a pretty interesting topic as well.. especially with highly adjustable pedals like Czarcie Kopyto or ACD darwins or somehing like that where you can change footboard height in different ways (with or without changing the direct-drive geometry) settings can get a bit confusing

Spring tension would be very interesting. I for example have a very steep foot board, and my beaters far away (feels comfortable) becaus other wise I press my Beaters on to the head and I think the only thing missing here is the spring tension, so everything comes togehter. I've tried a very high one and very low, but I can't figure out, how to find the sweet spot.

From what I've seen Martin's videos, you sould place your foot on the footboard, raise your heels while the rest of the leg is relaxed, and the beater shouldn't touch the head. That's your starting spring tension. But we can clearly see in the video that his is far higher than that. I guess is trial and error after that first point. I'm also trying to figure out my sweet spot.

hey thanks man. Could you shed some light upon the beaters height? I keep a little lower than usual due to which my heel toe tech works. As soon as I increase the height of the beater the heel toe technique becomes quite difficult and I have to rely on my ankles? I can do heel toe upto 160 pm(16s) with a little lower beater height. Any advice on this will help?

Raising beater height will make spring tension feel less and move and or move the beater closer to the head. Counter this by increasing spring tension and or distance to the head.
Lowering beater height height does the opposite.
Make very small incremental adjustments and test. Small adjustments can change the feel dramatically.

Assuming you are playing double bass, could be that your pedal are too far apart and you have to force your legs in a unconfortable angle. Hard to say without seeing, but that's what came to my mind.
