i started my double bass journey around a year ago. i started out unaware of techniques just trying to trust that my legs would become used to the sheer pain of trying to play fast for more than 5 seconds and that i would become faster and build better stamina, but it just wasnt the case. i decided to look online for help, thinking there was a better way, and then i stumbled across this channel. i tried the ankle technique countlessly to no prevail, as the motion did not click with my brain at all. then randomly as i was trying to work out the motion and just thinking to myself "how can i play faster easier" i started to the the nervous tapping feet on the pedals just to see if it would ever be possible to control both feet. at first all i did was produce unison strokes, with occasional breaking of the pattern going into alternating, then back into unison. i noticed that in the chaos, there was a little window where i felt where i could possibly learn to control it. i stuck with it and within just one or two weeks of practicing the feel of it, i evolved my technique to the controlled ankle technique and now the feeling will never leave my brain. i now can play comfortable double bass at around 220-230 bpm without getting tired whatsoever. thank you for your videos you are a blessing.
