  • I am so glad I decided to make my own pull up bar. To make this DIY pull up bar, it only took a few hours with painting and it is very sturdy. It was easy to install and so much better than the home pull up bars that hang over the door frame. Makes me wonder why I waited so many years to make my own. This is a DIY pull up bar that anyone can install! The best part was that it was cheap, all the parts were less than $70 dollars! The iron gym pull up bar is $50 dollars before tax and this DIY pull up bar blows it out of the park in my opinion.

Thank you for subscribing! I'm currently walking around 215. After about two months with the pull up bar, it's holding up extremely well and I use it at least every other day right now.

Why do you have to put the wood plank on the ceiling first??

The pull up bar needs to be attached to the ceiling joists. I ran my pull up bar perpendicular to the ceiling joists. If you are running the pull up bar parallel to the joists you might be able to attach the pull up bar to the joist directly.
