That is so cool but I wonder if it’s still there or did they remove it. They should add more stuff that happened at Mile High Stadium because they did not only host the Broncos home games. Here are other sporting events that was hosted. Baseball Denver Bears/Zephyrs (AA/PCL) (1955-1992) Colorado Rockies (MLB) (1993-1994) Soccer Denver Dynamos (NASL) (1974-1975) Colorado Caribous (NASL) (1978) Colorado Rapids (MLS) (1996-2001) Football Denver Gold (USFL) (1982-1985)
The stands were made of metal, and they had a fairly decent give. When you stomped your feet, there was just a vibration. The entire stadium literally rocked. Sports Authority is just do dang STURDY. The noise made when we were on defense caused false starts galore. I went to my first Broncos game at five in 1986 vs. the Raiders. I remember thinking we scored a TON of points because the crowd went NUTS every time there was a touchback and the kicks were down the middle of the field. Broncos games are still crazy, but there was NOTHING like sitting in the South Stands against Oakland in 1992. The lady behind me had a perpetual middle finger for the Raiders. I only wish they would have simply updated the old Mile High.
Not so much. The new stadium's structure is metal, but the stands are covered with concrete. The old stadium had concrete steps, but naked metal stands. When 76,000 stomped their feet it reverberated throughout the stadium, to the point that it would shake the television cameras. The sound of the feet and the roar of the crowd would be vibrating off of the metal, while the concrete on the outer parts of the venue would keep the sound in. Depending on where you sat, it was even possible to shake the railings enough that they moved. Mile High also had more concrete in its outer structure. The whole funky design of the new stadium allows noise to essentially escape with more ease. It may also be that fans back then were a little less subdued. If you sat in the South Stands, you sat with some of the loudest and most rambunctious bunch of Broncomaniacs you would ever have the pleasure to know.
I preferred the atmosphere at old Mile High. Certainly Sports Authority has its charm, but there was just something about watching a game in Mile High, especially against the Raiders. It was a magic feeling that is hard to explain.
Section EE south stands is where my seats were. I still have a piece of my bench seat framed and bought two plastic seats before it was demolished. I will always remember telling opposing fans : to get to your seats, go all the way to the top and turn right! What’s funny about that is that if you did that, you’re going over the stadium.
Great video editing Vic. Love it!

Was the old stadium more enclosed?

GAdawg2k8 Which Mile High Stadium is better.
