@@ItsOnlyElectric it is a luxurious and technically advanced car but the autonomy should be greater.... minimum 800 klms...the price in portugal will be close 80000 euros...very expensive
I test drove it too (in The Netherlands), just after a software-update end of June. In fact I ordered one. Will sell my Model S. Tested Xpilot too. Lane keeping, adaptive cruise control and lane change worked quite well, just like in MS. Voice control worked fine (please open my window). It knows who is talking. My friend said He Xpeng, please switch to sports mode. It said: cannot do that, you are not the driver. Quite impressive. Eager to get it in October.
Thanks for the quick look! This car is extremely promising. Pre-ordered in Norway and the price here is extraordinary considering the features, abilities and qualities of this car. No doubt Xpeng is taking a loss in an attempt to beat the general skepticism towards Chinese manufacturers and getting local customers to choose Xpeng.
Nobody seems able to point out any downsides of this car except for the light steering. Really seems Xpeng nailed it, which is incredible at this price. Really hope the RWD is comfortable too, even though it will not have the air suspension.
I just noticed the European version does not have Geek Mode like the Chinese one. That mode allows you to customise literally everything separately, including the steering stiffness. Hopefully it's just not exposed in this software version. Otherwise, you should feedback to XPeng to include it, haha.
You can actually adjust the steering to 3 different versions, comfort, standard and sport - sport makes it very connected to the steering. It seems he was not informed - but it changed steering dramatically.
Test drove the pre-production last week. I've owned a Tesla model X and currently drive a Mach-e AWD. Up front I will say I was not expecting much from the XPENG... My benchmark is the Model X and literally everything I have driven since then has not met my expectations. Well... The XPENG was nothing less than horrible!... Horribly good! Shockingly good in fact. The response time was better than the Model X, the air suspension was better tuned than the Model X (even for a pre production), the seating and adjustments were better than the model X and the passenger room in the rear was the best I've ever seen. Now the audio was not good... but I later found out that the car I test drove, being pre-production, did not have the fine tuning that will be in the production version, so I'll ignore that issue for now. It's a Beast! Yet driving it is effortless. There are way more refinements in this car than the Model X... and frankly, you are getting way more for your money with the XPENG. Now being a software engineer, I have always said that EVs are just computers on wheels. The core of these cars is the software. And like any computer, you want to be sure that the software is continually developed, the UI is easy and intuitive to use (or learn to use), and is safe, secure and reliable. The one thing missing just now is security - they are having to make some major refinements for the EU market - but the UI is the finest I've ever seen.. even against Tesla, which is the industry benchmark. I have to change out my Mach-e in May next year, and I had planned for a Model Y. However, after test driving 'the beast', the Model Y is now in second place.
Great review, you are obviously enthusiastic about this G9 ;-) Me too, I test drove it yesterday. Also measured the noise level, it was 69dB at 100-110 kmph, so really silent (in fact, 1dB less than the Bentley in which we drove to Xpeng). So I ordered it, exactly as in your video, black in grey, AWD with comfort/audio package. They say it will be delivered in December. Can't wait!
An excellent car. Just took it to Spain on a 5K km trip and it was such a pleasure! My wife loved the easy ride, the comfy seatbelt and RUclips on her screen. Me, I loved everything about it. The Xpilot (assisted driving) can be a bit jerky, but they are werking on it. Super car!
Great review for such a short time having the car. I think Xpeng has a winner here, and then G6, and more. Always good to see a company learn from their mistakes and improve.
I guess it is easier to target left hand drive market first. Even Tesla is no longer making RHD model S and X anymore, driving the prices of the used cars in Australia
and is also THE FIRST COMPANY IN THE WORLD to achive SAE level-3 autonomous driving system on a production car versus Tesla who declared (Feb 28, 2023) its technology is a "'Level Two' semi-autonomous driving system", but who know that ???
Nice review! I’m hoping to see a review between the standard and premium interior, quality, difference in sound etc. All G9 videos currently on RUclips have the premium interior, would be nice if we could see the standard interior.
@@ItsOnlyElectric probably. It would be nice if we could see the difference. They are available for preorder here in the Netherlands, but unfortunately there is no way to tell what you will get if you don’t order the premium interior. That’s not a complaint regarding your review of course but a general comment to xpeng :-)
No, only premium interior, it is a high quality car, like Rolls Royce (Bentley rather, as the Nappa leather comes from Bentley, not Rolls Royce, but the quality is based on Rolls Royce EJFJ autonomous driving that BMW Group never realized since February 6th, 1994) you cannot have a low quality interior... But this is a very smart interior with few buttons, vocal commands, and sweet design with nothing noticeable to be very effective... This is not like their old "partner" Hongqi, which does very complex design... Xpeng is based on simplicity and discretion while allowing astonishing high efficiency functions with lot of discretion... It seams to be a normal car, with a low price, but it has more functionalities than a Rolls Royce in which you can be the driver or the passenger, but in each case always the benefitor...
There is no doubt that Chinese manufacturers (and government) take the advantage of ICE to BEV change and positioned themselves at the top of it. I am amazed to see all these features in a BEV vehicle at this price range. Both European and US OEMs have serious challenges to beat Chinese brands in competition.
Checked it again and I'm probably wrong. Back seats are not perforated and the specification doesn't say anything about ventilation in the back seat. So the Norwegians are right 👍
