Anyone whos watched my videos will know how many DVD's i still buy. Charity shops are an absolute goldmine. All your reasons are very sound. I've never understood why people dismiss buying DVD's altogether. Especially when the movies are not available on any over format. BrainDead is brilliant but yeah im not paying £30 for it. Obscure titles is my absolute favourite thing to find. The amount of complete blind buys i've brought on the cheap which ended up being really good is huge...Might have to do a video series on it... Feast! Great movie! I've got it on DVD too. I'll add a sixth reason that kind of links in with the others. TV shows! So many are not on bluray and probably never will be. Again charity shops are brilliant for them. Sometime you can pick up complete series for under a fiver which are not on streaming services. Great stuff man! That's the end of my essay now ;-) XD
Thanks for putting the time to leave this awesome comment. Your additional reason has inspired me to do a follow up video in the future,. Thanks for watching
I like dvds because when you buy them they become yours forever and you can watch it whenever you want. If you see something on netflix or any other streaming source and you might think I'll watch that one day then add it to your watch list by the time you decide to watch it, it might not actually be there because it's not be on anymore plus dvds are good if your Internet goes down because most stuff on tv is rubbish
Great video Jason. I'm still a buyer of DVDs, they still look fantastic. Its unreal how cheap you can get them for in charity shops now, I was out only yesterday and one shop had 10 dvds for £1. Charity shops are the best for pickups. Enjoy Memento, its a decent watch.
I gave away 500 dvds , 10 years ago , Now collected 500 again .. it’s the love of interviews , special features , some classic movies , all that you can not get on Netflix
Canadian here. Started collecting DVDs last year. They're still around $3-5 each in the thrift stores around me unfortunately, but I buy lots off of Facebook Marketplace, and pay anywhere from $0.10 to $0.40 for DVDs, Blu-Rays, and TV Seasons. I love having access to just about any movie I want, without scouring all the streaming sites. Plus, it's always nice to have the option to watch special features.
I personally are one of them odd ones who can’t bring myself to watch DVD’s anymore for some reason but I totally understand your point and totally agree with what your saying. The money to be saved getting dvd is unbelievable. Great idea for a video mate.
Great video! I still collect them for the exact same reasons. I love the higher resolution, but I also think that some films and series are actually enhanced by DVD. I think Tarantino and Rodriquez's Grindhouse double bill (Planet Terror and Death Proof) is supposed to look like crappy old grindhouse film prints and the DVD resolution adds to the expired effect and humour, in my opinion. Also, DVDs are very universal and many people still have DVD players. Especially if you want to show a film to an older person, they will likely still have a player and not a Blu-Ray player. Anyway, really enjoyed the video dude 😃👍
This is a great point. Aesthetics are important in films and I agree that sometimes the media the film is played on really adds to the tone of a release. Thanks for watching.
I've just found your channel and subscribed and everything you said I agree with. The only blu rays I'll willing buy is if they are upgrades of films I love otherwise my collection is still 95% dvds, always will be 🙂
So so true charity shops are a goldmine for cheap movies and a great way to check out movies you wouldn’t of watched before, at the price you can take a punt on it
Yep. Good points. My son and I have started building a Blu-ray library, and he has access to all my old DVDs. I own a lot of great titles on DVD that are not available or are too expensive to upgrade. We use a restricted budget and mostly buy from the second-hand market. I love op shops, and still, pick up DVDs. I also collect CDs, which I have noted are slowly going up in price... hopefully this won't happen to DVD. Anyway, I enjoyed your video and we are watching it from New Zealand.
Fantastic video Jason, a great talking point and some incredibly valid points, I have hoards of DVDs and honestly I'm happy with them. At the end of the day if you buy a dvd your still supporting physical media and that's the main thing.
I have started collection DVD's again recently because of all the reasons listed here. But to add to that is just the fact that it is ownership of the content. It isn't a stream that can be taken away because of a licensing issue, expired content, the internet is down or the service goes away. Pay once and then you have it. All those things can happen and you will still have these things to watch on your own time.
Great informative video mate 👍I still get dvds ,iv picked up some gems from charity shops ,so I don't plan on stop getting dvds anytime soon ,it's a great way of finding old/new titles where your not spending to much, plus charity benefits as well 😀
I'm glad you found this video valuable. Didn't even think about the charity benefits thing, like I'm getting great finds for nothing but also my money is going to a great cause. Thanks James :)
100% agree, many ask me why i still buy DVD’s and the honest answer is because their cheap. Even brand new sealed ones in HMV are super cheap now, over the last 2 or 3 years I’ve picked multiple 5 star classics like The Firm, A Few Good Men, Girl Interrupted, Ransom, Bone Tomahawk, Rapid Fire, End Of Days, Psycho, The Wolf Of Wall Street, Casino, Blue Steel & Desperado for like £3 to £5 each which is just unbelievable value for money when you look at how good those films are.
Some Dvds still look great too, some companies are squeezing out amazing dvd transfers and when they're upscaled on modern TVs they look stunning. Thanks for watching
Bargain shopping has always been my first option for building my own movie collection. It's the easiest and cheapest method to finding the films I want to own/watch. Having multiple stores carrying used movies in my city yields an unfathomable amount of titles that is unmatched by all the streaming services combined... and then some. It's so much easier, and more cost effective, to scour a second hand store for a ton of $1 movies than to pay for 6 or 7 subscription services at a time each month, for years. A one-time purchase of a dollar movie that you OWN is the superior method in the long run. This is why my collection of over 3500 titles is 3/4 DVD. Saving money to get the things I truly want to have/see just makes the most sense to me.
Totally agree pal. All valid points there. As you'll see from my posts in BigPaulys group on Facebook, most of my pick ups are from charity shops. They are a real treasure trove right now with more and more people getting shot of collections in favour of streaming services. I'm a cinephile first and collector second, so if I can pick up a dvd for 50p over a tenner for the blu then I'll be picking up the dvd first. Like you, if I enjoy it I'll upgrade to blu. Btw Feast is a great, fun, creature feature. There are two sequels that I haven't seen yet though. Take care pal. 😀👍🔵
I bought a projector, good up to 1080p. But both movie parties I've had we happened to use DVDs. I think the screen is 105 inches. While blu-rays look noticeably better and I prefer them, DVDs are still acceptable, surprisingly. Had a great time.
There were some great Digipak designs on DVD that I still collect, they really made effort with matching disc art and packaging design on Collectors DVD editions and one of the reasons I collect physical media. Also DVDs picture quality certainly on more recent releases can look very good upscaled on a Blu Ray or 4k blu ray player 👍 😎. If you are able to get titles for those kind of prices it's a no brainer 👍
You say sometimes you are happy with DVD over blu ray due to cost (and availability) and I am in complete agreement with you! I recently bought Jurassic Park parts 2 and 3 each on DVD. I could have paid more for the blu ray pack but why, since I found used copies of the DVDs for less than $5 each online (free shipping too!) I really like and support your line of thinking on that one! Good job!
Great video at a time when boutique companies are charging £20-£50 for limited edition titles, nice to see someone that cares more about the cost than the limited status.
Great video mate, I still mainly buy DVDs and I'd say a good 60% of my collection is DVD. I'm just as happy with getting a dvd as I am.a blu. Great video mate
I collect action DVD movies from the 80s and 90s they have that nostalgia feel when you’re playing it on an HDTV. Watching obscure action movies like cobra starting Sylvester Stallone the last Boy Scout drop a on with Wesley Snipes and of course never before on blu ray - Schwarzenegger‘s true lies is probably a great DVD to have.
I've been Collecting 15-18, when my VHS Collection starting deteriorating and breaking. I've just now rebuilt my Collection. I still don't have near as many movies, but I have a lot of TV Seasons which I didn't have in the VHS Days. I had about 6,000 movies on VHS, I have about half of that on DVD.
I have about 2 bookcase shelves full of DVDs. This section I lovingly call my Grindhouse Collection. It is filled to the brim with mostly Mill Creek 50 Movie Collections (plus 2 Mill Creek 200 Movie sets). Most of that stuff will never see a better release and it's fun to "dig for gold", popping one in and see if I find a diamond in the crap. A lot of fun "so bad they're good" MST3000-type movies too.
Nice video and good reasons! One thing what I like also is extra materials, especially on more expensive boutique label releases (Criterion Collection, Arrow Video etc.). It is interesting to see good quality extras, making of, knowledge about movie and story and analysis of it etc. Surely there are some normal DVD releases as well where is good quality extras. One thing I like in DVD is that they are small to rip. I own probably around 1000 movies. I rip my DVD's as a full image on my NAS (network attached storage) and then I use Infuse in Apple TV. Then I can have my personal "netflix" streaming of my DVD's and they are not using lots of space. Most of the DVD's as a full rip images are only around 5 GB so 100 movies would be around 500 GB and 200 movies would be 1 TB. I have 16 TB on my NAS where there is over 6 TB free still even I have all my photos and home videos etc. there as well. If you use Apple TV, Infuse + ripping your movies as a DVD image is handy way to do a backup of your DVD's as well as have convenience of "streaming" of your movies :)
Thanks for watching my dude. Appreciate your perspective, too. I'm not someone who cares too much about backing up my collection. How it's cool to see how people store and preserve their collections.
@@jasonbrettyt Yea, I get it :) It is still always a lot of hassle and if there is space for storing DVD's in their original boxes and cases then it would be better. Currently I have so many that most of my DVDs are on plastic shield with their cover arts and the case is lost to save space. Well, today I again bought more DVD's and BluRays so might be that my shelves are full of DVDs again anyway :D
Have been collecting DVDs for twenty five years and have over 3000 - I store them in my summer house in the garden I store my Blu-ray and 4K in my study. DVDs are great for companies like Mill creek, Anchor bay etc (and for Music videos). I agree that you can use DVDs as cheap tester but also many old films are at present only on Dvd .
Great video, mate! I wish I had as much luck in charity shops as you did! 33p a title is a bargain! I completely get that about the Braindead DVD, I paid a big price for the Blu-ray 😂 you make some brilliant points, Jason and I loved this video, mate! 😃
Hey Jason, some of the movies you 'showcased' here, I didn't even know about. I'm definitely gonna have a butchers at 'The Ugly' and look for some other obscure titles. Thanks for this enlightening video.
I STILL collect dvd's along side blu rays. Pretty much for the exact reasons you listed. I understand dvd's will be a thing of the past sooner rather than later so now is the time to get my favorites for cheap or to try a new movie i have never watched with out spending up to 30 dollars on a disk.
Special features, can't be taken away like streaming sites, and nostalgia are all reasons my horror movie collection will always be physical disc copies, especially since some horror movies actually look better/scarier/more nostalgic at lower resolution
As a movie collector i enjoy dvds , blu ray and 4k uhd . I recently really started getting.more into collecting dvds lately been in this dvd binge over blu rays for past few weeks lol . I have almost 700 individual movies in my collection all.movies are in binders with sleeves and artwork now . Didnt have the space to shelve them anymore lol
I collect Hong Kong martial arts kong fu dvd movies , I have the whole Jackie chan , jet li movies ..After watching your video I will check out the charity shops . I normally just buy them on eBay
Yeah pretty much will agree with this philosophy Jason 🤔👍 my charity shops are hopeless for any decent titles but if they had anything in them I would definitely use these principles 🤩🤩 great video mate 👍👍
@@jasonbrettyt yeah Jason, I've stopped looking now, every one is really poor for physical media..... unless I was 50 copies of Twighlight on dvd 🥶🥶🤣🤣👍👍
so far ive charity crawled felixtowe ipswich colchester mersea bethnal green and brighton, 100+ films so far, probably spent less than £100, amazon that's probably £500
AI upscaling techniques continue to improve. At some point they will be good enough that people will rush out and buy DVD's that can't be found in Blu Ray in order to AI upscale them.
Some of my collection I've upgraded to Blu-Ray but there are some titles where DVDs are still worthwhile like if you want to watch the first Terminator with the original 80's mono mix. Upscaling makes keeping DVDs around worthwhile and like you said, you can't argue with the price.
yeah, unless the bluray is super cheap. just go with the dvd. im just gonna throw it on my 50 inch walmart tv who cares lol. however i will say that if you have a scuffed dvd, chances are it might still play. but if you have a scuffed bluray...forget about it
Those DVDs are crazy cheap! Here in Australia, barely any shops sell new physical media and it's very hard to find charity shops that sell more than clothes and a few kid's clothes. I was able to pick up a mountain of DVDs from a store at some indoor markets, for AU$2 each. They threw in a few freebies, too, because I kept going back there every week as they added more movies. The sellers bought up seven thousand movies from a couple of video libraries that closed down.
It's so cool that you are able to build a collection from a small market store. It's really good when you get to know to store owners and runners because they always reward returning customers, especially when they know what you're looking for. Thanks for watching 👀 🙂
Fun video Jason :). For me, i won't buy any dvd's anymore, just blu-rays !. As a matter of fact, i have started buying movies i already own on blu-ray. That way, i can get rid of the dvd's, which are to be honest not the best of quality. Cheers mate ;) !.
While I did sell most of my DVD's when I cleared out my parents' house after they died in 2019 because I had no room in my apartment (it was either games or DVD's), I did keep some stuff such as Asian movies, which barely ever see a release on Blu-ray (especially the old stuff from the 70s and 80s) and TV-shows (Buffy, Angel, X-Files, Friends, Charmed, BH90210, Tropical Heat). But I do kind of want to keep buying more stuff... Just today I found there's a guy two minutes away from my place selling DVD's. He has so many! I picked up Jurassic Park and The Lost World: Jurassic Park for €2,00 each! Top condition. I found out later the whole franchise was on Netflix, but nothing beats having the physical thing. Also, do you collect VHS? There's bound to be movies there that never made it to DVD... 😉
Thanks for taking the time to post this awesome comment. Condolences for your loss, I lost my dad last year, so I understand the pain. I don't collect VHS due to space reasons, but secretly really want to lol Thanks so much for watching!
I bought stargate sg1 complete 1-10 and the stargate 3 films dvds all for £10 on Facebook market place I do try to buy bluray or 4k but couldn't turn stargate complete for that price
RE: N. 3 Some technically not so advanced movies (and serieses) actually look better on DVD as higher res just brings out the imperfections in the image quality, and sometimes makes the props, set, makeup and various SFX look totally fake. Personally it just distracts more, so a DVD is a solid choice for those. Generally I do prefer BD for well made movies, even older ones.
The amount of titles not on Blu-ray is staggering due to rights or not thinking it will sell. I'll buy DVD's I just project them on my movie screen and upscale them on a Blu-ray player on stereo hi def speakers good to go.
Great points, I agree with the movies that are only on dvd point. There is this great movie called Relative Fear starring John Ritter and Andy Griffith, that I believe was only ever released on dvd outside the US and isn't available anywhere streaming that is a great movie that I wouldn't have found without seeking out the foreign dvd release.
I still buy old WWE DVDs as WWE have stopped doing blurays unless theyre for big events now, WWE have so many great dvd set releases from when SilverVision released them with runtimes of close to 8 or 9 hours and now sets released by Fremantlemedia are around 6 and a half hours long and still 3 discs. I think thats cos they want to push the WWE's streaming platform.
I’m the same really. I love picking up tv shows or animated stuff cheap and the charity shops have been terrific for that. Just finished off the rest of a tv show spending £1 per set and getting the final 4 of them. Otherwise would have been more expensive
That is a really nice edited Video But i will never go lower than Blu Ray Quality EXCEPT there is no and will not in near Future be a BD Release of a Film and i have to get the DVD if i want it in my Collection, which is Pretty Fucking Rare
Fun video I love collecting dvds and blu rays nice to have on shelf, extras, no censored content or cut content. I get most of mine from charity shops, most charity shops dvds are £1 each lol. Some i get 50p in some. So you have a good one at 3 for £1 Plus with charity shops they good causes. I paid £1 for single disc memento. Got 3 disc shawshank for 75p. But I picked up first 2 mummy films and scorpion King for £1 I volunteer in a charity shop so sometimes my boss gives me free dvds that didn't sell as we last port of call and rag man can't take them. I sometime get my pick for free, but I will pick 3 and give £1. I did once get bly ray 3d extended hobbit films in the complete box for £5 and all 5 jurassic Park films on blu ray for £5 thanks to eBay
I startet to collect VHS since two months and it’s the same benefit like DVD. Awesome cheap and so many times for free (!) I build a Collection about 50 VHS Movies in this Short Time and it cost me around 20€. I use to watch it on a crt TV in my little Retro-Room. And I really like the old vibes. And there are also a lot of Movies they Never get a rerelease on DVD or newer mediums. But I also love DVD Collecting about the same reasons. And, I can play them too on my CTR with the PS2 ( ;) ) and on my newer Hardware upscaled in 4K and I’m absolutely fine. Long Time ago I think I have to go to higher resolution but mostly my fav 80s/90s movies lost there flavor with this sharpness and often other Colorgradings. Call me strange, but I love grungy Pictures on older Movies.
Speaking of obscure movies I bought a copy of a film called Otis about a guy who kidnaps girls in order to satisfy his sick twisted fantasies and it was actually really good it had some funny moments and when I bought it I thought oh this is just going to be a crappy movie and it's got Roderick from the original wimpy kid movies I recommend it
Where are you getting DVD's for that cheap?, CEX sell them for £1 each and Barnardo's even sell them at £1 each .. charity shops are getting expensive where i live.
Yeah, everywhere is getting expensive. This video is nearly 3 years old, and a lot of my local charity shops that used to do 4 for £1 on dvds are now selling them individually for £1 or more. Thanks for watching
@@jasonbrettyt Sorry, didnt check the date on the video assumed it was recent due to everyone reporting on death of physical media of late. Makes sense now, i never see DVD's for less then £1, however my mum did say she went into one charity shop and saw them doing 6x for £1 which is an amazing deal (And i have never been that lucky).
I only buy DVD for the tv shows and movies that love most, and it's very minimal. I'm extremely picky on my entertainment. All else can just be streamed.
Hey Jason, I’m a new sub and I’m also a massive fan of DVDs, I’ve mainly ever collected the Doctor Who dvds? Would that ever be something you’d get into, there’s some amazing episodes out there
Funnily enough I've never seen a single episode of Doctor Who. I'd like to watch the classic stuff from the 60's, however I know there's around a hundred episodes lost to time. My girlfriend loves the rebooted series from 2005. So I might start there. What would you recommend? Welcome to the channel and thanks for the support 🙏😀
@@jasonbrettyt as a fan of the show who started from 2005 I’d recommend starting from there with the episode 'Rose' it’s a great introduction, however if you’re more into your 60s era then 'An Unearthly Child' is your best bet as that was the very first episode of Doctor Who back in 1963, it’s all down to preference, however you can get them all on dvd for quite cheap prices and there’s even Blu-ray collection sets for the classic era but, they are quite pricy
I personally think dvds are better for older movies from the 80s and 90s i prefer the classic look. Blu-Rays look too clean and saturated. So i still buy dvds for old movies only though. Newer movies i just buy them on google tv since they look exactly like Blu-Rays to me anyway
I don’t really bother with Blu-ray at all because the price is just silly and DVDs look absolutely fine to me tbh, even the old ones Even the seriously old ones that look a bit like VHS, to be honest. I think that that gives them a charm
Could somebody recommend any lesser known horror films that are similar to ‘Session 9’? Its become one of my favorites since i found it. But its difficult to find much else like it.

I really like and support your line of thinking on that one! Good job!
Great points. I still have the odd DVD
Cool man. Thanks for watching
If you get yourself a crt tv and dvds look great. I also dont mind the resolution on my 65" Sony Tv. Sony handles the upscaling well.
Nice, yeah there's just some films I don't see upgrading, especially when I've got them so cheap.
I sell DVD on ebay. For the most part blu-rays do sell for much of a premium.
I still buy dvds in 2023 for the same reasons! In my 42 inch plasma they look awesome.Last month i bought 15 dvds, about 5-6 euro each, brand new.
Great stuff. Dvd are still worth it. Thanks for watching 👀 🙂
I’ve never stopped
Awesome. I did years ago and swapped out my dvd collection to a bluray one, but now I've got back to dvds due to their affordability :)
@@jasonbrettyt Yea, I get it :)
It is still always a lot of hassle and if there is space for storing DVD's in their original boxes and cases then it would be better.
Charity shops I've been going too lately are doing 6 for £1 which I am loving.
That's awesome. Can't got wrong with that. Thanks for watching
Great video, mate! I wish I had as much luck in charity shops as you did! 33p a title is a bargain! I completely get that about the Braindead DVD, I paid a big price for the Blu-ray 😂 you make some brilliant points, Jason and I loved this video, mate! 😃
Thanks so much Leon, Yes Braindead was an amazing find :D
Hey Jason, some of the movies you 'showcased' here, I didn't even know about. I'm definitely gonna have a butchers at 'The Ugly' and look for some other obscure titles. Thanks for this enlightening video.
That's great. Glad I could shed some light on some unknown titles. Happy hunting
Also telly's these days are HD so you can watch dvds in HD
Great video pal, youve earned a new subscriber.
I still buy DVDs especially for TV shows. I only buy Blu-rays for cult films off boutique labels
no! why dont u buy movies on dvd and shows on bluray
Ah, that's a shame John. I've just been lucky I spose with my charity shops. Thanks for watching my dude
@@jasonbrettyt yeah Jason, I've stopped looking now, every one is really poor for physical media..... unless I was 50 copies of Twighlight on dvd 🥶🥶🤣🤣👍👍
@@MondoChelloveckMovies oof that bad huh?
@@jasonbrettyt haha pretty much mate 😲😲😱😱🤩🤩
Your editing is tight!
Looking forward to seeing you on Playtendoguy stream tomorrow. Best wishes.
Thanks so much. :)
so far ive charity crawled felixtowe ipswich colchester mersea bethnal green and brighton, 100+ films so far, probably spent less than £100, amazon that's probably £500
Upscaling makes keeping DVDs around worthwhile and like you said, you can't argue with the price.
charity shops are great where i live, one place does 20 for a quid! i'm addicted to dvd hunting at the mo!
yeah, unless the bluray is super cheap. just go with the dvd. im just gonna throw it on my 50 inch walmart tv who cares lol.
however i will say that if you have a scuffed dvd, chances are it might still play.
but if you have a scuffed bluray...forget about it
Those DVDs are crazy cheap!
That's fair mate, thanks for watching as always :D
Jason you are spittin' facts why shell out when you can get an abundance of titles for pocket change. Winner Winner Chicken Dinner! 🐔
I don't collect VHS due to space reasons, but secretly really want to lol
Thanks so much for watching!
I bought stargate sg1 complete 1-10 and the stargate 3 films dvds all for £10 on Facebook market place I do try to buy bluray or 4k but couldn't turn stargate complete for that price
That's an amazing score!! Nice one :) TV Shows are definitely something I didn't consider for my video, maybe I'll do a follow up.
I still buy them at goodwill 2.99 each and I often find them brand new
i start long ago
i have things you cant get and out of print and hard to find not only dvd but more 😉😉😉
I just buy DVDs for special features like The Lord Of The Rings Appendices which aren't on newer box sets.
I love TV documentary on DVD because some of them hard to find online 🙂
Because when the internet is down
You can play with CDs
You make some very strong points.
I'm now starting to collect TV documentaries on DVD 😃
What setup do you use to play the dvds?
I use a ps5 and a hisense A8G Oled TV and I think dvds look great.
I like the thought of trying movies on the cheap 🤙
I feel like it is rare nowadays to collect DVDs without having a single blu-ray. Thats my situation.
Exactly, finding som,e great titles only on dvd, especially in charity shops is great :) Thanks for watching
The feast films are awesome even the bonus features are great
I didn't like Feast unfortunately, I thought it was a bad. Thanks for watching my dude.
Its not supposed to be good
I still buy old WWE DVDs as WWE have stopped doing blurays unless theyre for big events now, WWE have so many great dvd set releases from when SilverVision released them with runtimes of close to 8 or 9 hours and now sets released by Fremantlemedia are around 6 and a half hours long and still 3 discs. I think thats cos they want to push the WWE's streaming platform.
I'd love to get some of the older WWE shows on dvd. thanks for watching
Great video, 100% agree with you on all of that 👍
Thanks so much Tom, Appreciate the watch and support!
My local charity shop does them 10p each and another one does 12 for a pound
Fantastic video 100% agree!
I’m the same really. I love picking up tv shows or animated stuff cheap and the charity shops have been terrific for that. Just finished off the rest of a tv show spending £1 per set and getting the final 4 of them. Otherwise would have been more expensive
TV shows are great finds in charity shops for well cheap :) I found The Pacific for £1.50 for example
6. Special features that aren't on the blu-ray edition
7. Some films aren't worth the upgrade
That is a really nice edited Video
But i will never go lower than Blu Ray Quality
EXCEPT there is no and will not in near Future be a BD Release of a Film and i have to get the DVD if i want it in my Collection, which is Pretty Fucking Rare
That's fair man. I'm enjoying hunting Dvd's in charity shops because I can get so much for very little and a lot of the dvds look great up-scaled.
nice video. what size tv and dvd player do you use?
I have 49" 4K TV and play my films using an Xbox One
What 4K blu ray player do you use?
I just have a Xbox One S
I love DVDs. I will always buy them.
Fun video I love collecting dvds and blu rays nice to have on shelf, extras, no censored content or cut content.
I get most of mine from charity shops, most charity shops dvds are £1 each lol. Some i get 50p in some.
So you have a good one at 3 for £1
Plus with charity shops they good causes.
I paid £1 for single disc memento. Got 3 disc shawshank for 75p.
But I picked up first 2 mummy films and scorpion King for £1
I volunteer in a charity shop so sometimes my boss gives me free dvds that didn't sell as we last port of call and rag man can't take them. I sometime get my pick for free, but I will pick 3 and give £1.
I did once get bly ray 3d extended hobbit films in the complete box for £5 and all 5 jurassic Park films on blu ray for £5 thanks to eBay
I have eccentric tastes, obscure anime and old SiFi
Many titles aren’t found on blu ray or 4k and will never be released again physically since everything will be digital. People haven’t caught on yet.
Makes sense now, i never see DVD's for less then £1, however my mum did say she went into one charity shop and saw them doing 6x for £1 which is an amazing deal (And i have never been that lucky).
i never stopped.
@@jasonbrettyt as a fan of the show who started from 2005 I’d recommend starting from there with the episode 'Rose' it’s a great introduction, however if you’re more into your 60s era then 'An Unearthly Child' is your best bet as that was the very first episode of Doctor Who back in 1963,
it’s all down to preference, however you can get them all on dvd for quite cheap prices and there’s even Blu-ray collection sets for the classic era but, they are quite pricy
I personally think dvds are better for older movies from the 80s and 90s i prefer the classic look. Blu-Rays look too clean and saturated. So i still buy dvds for old movies only though. Newer movies i just buy them on google tv since they look exactly like Blu-Rays to me anyway
Selling my dvds for 50p and doubled dipped on blu ray so let me know ow if want any decent video again
did people forget about the high seas?
I don’t really bother with Blu-ray at all because the price is just silly and DVDs look absolutely fine to me tbh, even the old ones
Even the seriously old ones that look a bit like VHS, to be honest. I think that that gives them a charm
Could somebody recommend any lesser known horror films that are similar to ‘Session 9’? Its become one of my favorites since i found it. But its difficult to find much else like it.
"30p" what? you pay in resolutions?
What year did thedvd comeout
Wve you ever smelled charity shop dvds though? I prefer paying £3 on eBay for a dvd that doesn't have the charity shop smell.
Holy Giant DVD Boxes. LOL!
Arachnophobia? It’s got a new blu ray release.
